But he did not play for Welling United against Dartford so apart from the fact that he cannot play for us if we reach the latter rounds, no harm was done.
Jake hobbs is a nice player, but volatile i believe mr day stated at meet the manager evening that he wants a big man for up front. We have whitnell pugh lawson clarke and a new big striker who know doubt mr day has someone in mind,so i am guessing jake hobbs wont be here next season. I hope mr day is talking to whitnell already about a contract for next season. onions for tea ,thats shallot
Dogkiller and Ben, with the greatest of respect, you are both talking bollocks.
Hobbs was our best player in the first couple of months of the season. Since then he has played out of position (on the right wing) and has been limited to a handful of breif substitute apperances. For me he has a great chance of getting a contract for next season.
Good luck at Sittingbourne, Jake.

I ain't talking bo llocoks, just giving my opinion on the player. That being that whenever I've seen him play he's shown that he's a talented player but also petulant, angry and spiteful, which can at times do more harm than good. It's a valid point.
The point about his petulance is a valid one. It just seemed to me that you were both kicking a man when he was down. Don't forget that these younger player are more susceptible to lapses in confidence and have been known to visit this forum.

"Hobbs was our best player in the first two months of the season........" Erm, no he wasn't that "accolade" goes to Charlie Mitten by a country mile.
I don't think Hobbs is a first choice player at this level (yet) Gets too disheartened too easily and also has Lee Spiller syndrome (he runs around a lot and puts plenty of effort in but ultimately doesn't achieve an awful lot)
Hope the loan works out for all parties and maybe he can come back and be effective off the bench for us later in the season.
I agree that he has been playing out of position and has had little opportunity but I can't see him being offered a contract unless the loan works really well. Obvioulsy hope it goes well and he turns out to be a great player who can control himself - then it will be one less player for Jamie to find. I just don't think he can achive all that in the time left.

You his mate or something he runs around like a headless chicken most of the time and has a suspect temperament.
my dear chris its DOGKILLA not DOGKILLER also i stated jake hobbs is a nice player. chris you stated he was our best in the first couple of months can i ask where he as been for the last four and half months ( dropped to the bench and suspended )there are other fprwards in front of him and like i said MR DAY wants a big man up front. jake hobbs get a contract i doubt it.
In Sittingbourne's KSC game 17 year old loanee from Dartford (local lad who I have only seen playing in the midfield) played all game and scored 2 goals Jake played 57 from memory and scored nil.

A good point by Wingnut our best player in the first couple of months of the season, and the season as a whole, has been Charlie Mitten.
Spitey I am not his mate. I just have respect for him as he always gives 100%. You say he runs around like a headless chicken, but what is he supposed to do when he only has about 10 minutes on the pitch and is no doubt told by the management 'go out and show what you can do'.
I agree we could do with a big man up front but getting someone half decent (in the mould of an Abbot or Kedwell) on reasonable money is near impossible. The only other option is a loan. Whitnell and Pugh have been a quality partnership- if we can keep Pugh until the end of the season then we'll be in with a great shout at the play offs.
I still maintain that Hobbs was probabley our best outfield player until he was switched to right midfield in late September. Anyone who witnessed his goals at Thurruck, Bath and Staines will be aware that he is no mug.
He's only 18 and he reminds me a bit of a young Dean Standen whom I rated at the time. But he can't even get a game for Cray Wanders now, so what do I know?

Statistics may say that but for all we know Hobbs may have been stuck out on the wing and the young bloke may have scored two tap ins and done nothing else. Hobbs hadn't had a game for weeks anyway, so would not have been at his sharpest.
I wonder if Adam Marsh would get the nod over Jake Hobbs if something happened and we needed to draft in a striker at the last minute!!!

Taken from the match report "Dent, who was a revelation in this match, found Hobbs with the goal seemingly at his mercy but again the new boy fired his effort wide."
"Bradbrook lashed a shot goalwards that Williams could only parry out to Dent who struck it back with ferocity straight into the back of the net and Sittingbourne had deservedly levelled."
"Dent found himself in acres of space some 25 yards out from the Bromley goal and he let fly with a fantastic shot straight past Williams and into the top right hand corner of the Lilleywhites net to put Sittingbourne ahead."
I have seen him play several times and in my view has lots of potential as has Ibrahim the Sittingbourne keeper who is also on loan from Dartford. Both are knocking on the door of Dartford's 1st team and I'm sure Daysy is aware of them.
As far as Marsh goes I would give him the nod over Hobbs as I think he brings more to the table.

That'll be the Ibrahim that used to play for us Bruno !!
I think the major problem with Jake Hobbs was his attitude. Reminded me of Dean Standen in that respect. They were both crap at taking penalties as well.
He is a trier though, and deserves a bit more than some of the things said in this thread.
I'm happy for people to have a dig at those who clearly could not care less, but not players who will run their socks off for 90 minutes, and who will give all for the cause.
and time travel as our former reserve keeper gets splinters on the Homelands bench Sittingbournes loanee is helping to keep Abbo's hopes of a play off place alive.
