Any floating supporters are likely to be diverted by Charlton (at home) and Gillingham (at home) and, if they live in these areas Dartford (at home) Gravesend (Ebbsfleet at home). What a terrible bit of fixture planning - surely we could have stopped the Charlton fixture clash by sorting out a solution pre-season? I am sure we have avoided clashes with Charlton in previous seasons. What's gone wrong? The other home fixtures just add insult to injury.
I reckon we would have got a crown of aboput 1,200-1,500 if we could have avoided playing at home the same day as Charlton. Next season will be a nightmare, from a fixtures point of view, if Dartford come up and Ebbsfleet are relegated.

Don't worry my dear Exec lounge Bertie. Although I only live just outside Elland Road (the home of Leeds United just 225.4 miles away), I've made the decision not to pop around the corner to pick up the bus to Yeovil, but instead I'll make the difficult journey (1 mile) this afternoon to cheer on the Wings.
The home crowd sadly lacking lacking in encouragement today for what was a fine effort second half. Daisy and Clarke played their socks off throughout and Mitten was great as usual.
Dartford got just over 1300 today, surley Charlton playing at home affects them as well, if we are to compete in this league we need to up the support, not sure what the crowd was today but what would it have been without the Dover supporters, and why can Dartford get such a big crowd when they are a league lower ok they are top but we were pushing for the play offs
Whenever a club gets a new ground, nice spanking facilities, people go and check it out - thats their in - people enjoy it and keep going especially when the orginal crowds are so big.
If only we had a council who gave a **** about their premier club.
Also regarding Dartford, they moved back to the town having been away for a while meaning a lot of younger people may have started going having never really had the oppourtunity to do so.
Iam guessing here with all this but in my opinion all these factors would play a part. If they had got relegated in the first season of the ground opening I would bet you top dollar the corwds would have halved instantly.

Completley disagree with this Spitey, I thought we were clueless in the 2nd half and we went down with a real wimper we had no ideas on how to break them down and on that showing deserve to be missing out on the play offs. Dover outclassed us in every area of the pitch with out hitting top gear. On reflection we were two or three players short of a firm play off side. However I dont want to knock the lads as they have done bloody well to get us this close its just dissapointing to be bowing out of the play off race having been so near.
p.s Mitten was top quality agreed!

Interesting that the Charlton Valley Express coach picks up at 64 points in the south east (sad I just looked on the CAFC site) but not in Central Dartford. CAFC probally affect teams like Hastings, Folkestone, Dover and Gillingham more than they do Dartford. I also noticed they have already sold six thousand season tickets for 2010/11. Perhaps Welling could offer CAFC season ticket holders a Welling season ticket for £35 which I believe one of the BSS teams did this season with Portsmouth. (Possibly Havent a clueville but I can't remember)
I am getting sick of Wings63 undermining us all the time and saying Dartford have a bigger willy at every chance he gets.
Heres some facts for you,.
The reason we play Dartford once in a blue moon is for Decades we have been playing a higher grade of football
How many years have YOU played in the conference?
How many football league sides have you played in the FA Cup?
How many of these 1300 people you attract were there when you were without a council ground?
What was the score this season at your ground?
Why are at least 2 players leaving Dartford in the close season to come to Welling, if Dartturd are so ****ing bigger and better than Welling.
Why did your best midfielder walk out when on contract to go to such a lesser team, even if they were in a higher league?
Listen son, and yes that was meant to be patronising, when youve competed at the same level as us for YEARS, when youve beaten us regularly, when you proved over seasons you can play at this level.... you might be a club to compare with us.

JGFC, I am a wings fan through and through and it annoys me that a club like Dratford can aatract more supportes than us which is what I orginally said, and all the reasons you give above is why WE should get more support than them,
I will surprised if more than Adam Gross comes from Dartford to us, because if your honest they can pay more wages than us and that is because they get bigger crowds and get help from the council unlike us,
I would be intersted in who you think is coming to the wings from Dartford, I have said who I think we come so I think you should do the same, I remember you having ago when I said I had heard Jamie was coming to be our manager and yes I do have some inside information where Jamie is concerned
My friend got a copy of the Dartford programe from Monday, and it explains a few things to me why they will over take us in league standing, there is a bit about pre season attendences last year they played five clubs at home Norwich, Gillingham, ourselves Millwall and Folkestone Invicta, them games attaracted just under 8000 before Monday they they had attaracted 21567 fans in 19 league games giving them a average of 1135 which is the higest in kent bar Gillingham plus they have had 3202 fans attend thier home cup games giving them a total 32563 fans through the turnstiles with 2 games remaining which I think even JGFC will admit is quite impresive for the level of football they are playing and with them most likely be playing in BSS next season I can only say I think there crowds will grow, Also they have arranged pre season friendlies next season against Dagenham& Redbridge, Gillingham, Millwall and Tonbridge Angels which once again is 3 league teams who apparently have said they will send their first teams, I am not having a go but my point is if they can do this why cant we, who have we got pre season games aginst for next season we need to act fast and get the word out thier that Welling United are a bigger club and advertise the games better, I have driven around Dartford when there has been a massive banner outside the KFC Shop advertising the next game why cant we do this in welling, we need to act because lets be fair they will overtake us and attract the better players because they can afford to do so.

All this talk about which club has the best support or the loudest support or the supporters with the most axes to grind or the supporters with the biggest egos is, quite frankly, pish (To use a quaint old Scottish term)! I'm noticing that when Welling start to have a bit of a dip in form then out come the moaners.
Why?
What exactly do we want? Blue Square National football next season? More notice and attention from a seemingly apathetic council and populace? More money for players if and when they go (with signing-on clauses)? More effort from players who have already given us all a lot of pleasure this season? A manager who isn't going to attract the attention of other clubs (always going to happen when someone like Daisy comes along and starts to make a name for himself.)?
Some of these things? Other things?
Get a sense of perspective. You could be a supporter of Chester City. Or King's Lynn. Or Harwich & Parkeston. Or Weymouth. Or Salisbury City. Or Northwich Victoria. Or Portsmouth. Or Farsley Celtic. Or Merthyr Tydfil. Or Willenhall Town. Or Bromsgrove Rovers. Or Harlow Town. Or Gretna. Or countless others whose fans have had to endure the nightmare of not knowing whether or not they're actually going to be able to watch there team ever again (including, it must be said, our esteemed opponents on Monday - Dover have had their problems in the past).
Well now..........wasn't that an undignified rant!
Wings 63 i did it in the past when Parker and Aidy were managers but i wont do it again, alerting other clubs that we are going to sign players is not on. You have named one of the two players anyway but thats not a secret is it.

Regarding council help. I dont think that taxpayers should have to pay their money towards a football club. I live in Dartford Borough but support Welling. I begrudge the fact that some of my council tax went towards a stadium for a team that I do not support.
Fundraising for clubs should come from voluntary means and not through funds that could be better used in improving public services.

Yes that is no secret about Gross, but he will only come if we can pay the wages, friendship with Daisey is not enough, other than players that Dartford will let go this season I cannot see any other players making there way to PV, and do we really want players that they deem not good enough for BSS, Im with you on certain players we have to get them on contract because make no mistake some of our players will be touted by other clubs and to be fair it will only be our best players it would be good to hear from the club which players they have signed up for next season as soon as they are allowed to. I know I keep on about Dartford and it winds me up because my friend goes there all the time, I just want the wings to be bigger and better than them, nd from what I have heard they are looking at a new goalkepper and I would not be surprised to see Mitten go there
Probably a bit pointless now seeing as this argument has moved on but some of the reasons why Dartford got such good pre season friendlies was to do with link ups/selling players.
Millwall play reserve games at Princes Park and have an official tie up with Dartford. Also 'Wall had their old player Dave Martin on their books - who they've since sold - which probably helped relations. Dartford sold a player to Naaarich too - think it was Cody McDonald - and so a pre season friendly was part of the deal. And we played the Gills.
At the end of the day I stated a good few reasons why they get better crowds, and traditionally since I've been supporting the wings anyway we have never been the best supported club - attendance wise.
But we can help change that with a bit of success on the pitch and good marketing. regularly getting 900 people is easily within our grasps and I think this would mean we'd break even every home game (maths has never been my strong point though!!). Which I think should be the aim before we start trying to out do Dartford.
Jamie might be able to get an Arsenal X1 down that will bring a crowd in. Gillingham and Charlton will be shoe ins for a friendly. Any league clubs sniffing around players then invite their first team for a friendly and they get a first hand look at the players.

Friendly with Jamie old club - AFC Bournemonth as according to Kent schools fa site he played 20 games betwen 1999 and 2001 when i think the present manager Eddie Howe was a player
Try something different have a weekend away play a game on the Friday night and then one on the sunday.
Something like Truro and Falmouth or Saltash, good bonding trip and a couple of different opponents.
If my memory serves me didn't Parker have a week away in Norfolk where the team played 3 or 4 games. Personally think its a good idea, but if something like that is done would ned to be advertised early so that supporters could book hotel/B&B rooms.
