Do we have, or are we likely to get, a main sponsor for the forthcoming season?  Surely we cannot go two seasons without one.

Bertie, it is easier in this climate to maximise the gates for the charlton and arsenal friendlies.

If we can get an almost full house for arsenal this will equate to double what a sponsor would pull in at the top end. They have thought outside the box and pulled a rabbit out. But have to maximise this with press and radio announcements and liase with the clubs visiting us to get them to advertise it on their websites and to season ticket holders.

I am sure the club are trying all fo their networks to sort this out. I would have had a business raffle as i said before, but its a bit late for that now, could have charged £100 a ticket and each entrant gets a small box in the programme and comp tickets to a match and entry into a draw for the shirt sponsorship. But you had to attack it from the end of the season and get plenty sold to local and national businesses for it to have a chance of working.

I do think that the press should be a little more realistic though...I note the NewsShopper ...i think....have put a picture of Theo Walcott and said that he 'could' play at PVR

there is 0% chnace of that...for starters Wenger will NOT allow his top players to play in this kind of game and also he will not be back in training yet as he will be at the World Cup

I think it would be great if Arsenal would send 'some' of their Carling Cup Team who of course are very very good kids!!!

Even better if they would actually name who will be coming would maximise the gate

Dont get me wrong ..a couple of fringe first teamers would help too...maybe Djorou or Gibbs.....

BUT

Wouldnt it be great if someone like an Arshavin played for 30 mins

Mark you sometimes get a few stars making isolated appearances for a run out.

We can be thankful we will have a decent arsenal team of youngsters and MIGHT get lucky and get a run out from a well known star for 30 mins.

I think closer to the date Jamie will announce if Wenger is coming or which players maybe in the squad. But i firmly believe we need to go a bit mad on the promoting of this game as it will make up for the sponsor issue.

I'd be ok if the only known name in the Arsenal team was Liam Brady and he decided to have a run about for 10 minutes at the end of the match :D

Am i right in guessing that we don't need to worry about a sponsor now until the 2011/12 season?

Oh and about season tickets. How much revenue do season tickets bring into the club? Does it make a big difference?

The gates for these games will get more money than a sponsor JGFC sure, but lets get a bl00dy sponsor as well, the more money the better for all. Poor financial climate I know, but everyone else manages, why cant we ?? (retorical).

Kevin

The Arsenal game is more than we have had before, so i am saying we could get 30k from a full house. I would guess a sponsor would be between 7 and 10k for a season.

Therefore the Arsenal game if maxed crowd would equate to more than an excellent sponsor. For that reason IF the game is marketed well, i dont see the big panic for a sponsor, we could lower our asking price for a sponsor and sell the shirt sponsorship easier and maybe get a 2 or 3 year deal.

If we hadnt had the Arsenal game lined up i would agree we need a sponsor badly, but i see what the Club and Jamie have done here as more than making up for a lack of a sponsor.

Maybe from when the season starts we can have a year long sponsorship raffle and sell these to all the local businesses by advertising on a flyer also sell them at at golf days, wsu events such as an evening with, or live bands etc. But we will have to increase our networking.

By having a year long campaign we could even get more than the going rate for next season's shirts (If we dont sell it this season in a longer term deal).

I think we have to see the huge difference the Arsenal game could make and see it as more than making up for the sponsor issue. I feel it gives us leeway to get the sponsor sorted rather than just taking 4 or 5k for the sake of it.

Just because we have Arsenal en-route doesnt mean we should turn a blind eye to another money making opportunity in a sponsor. We need one, apart from money its bloody embarrassing.

Surely the Arsenal game makes it more appealing to any potential sponsor!!!

I still think it needs some Arsenal NAMES that have been divulged to the fans BEFORE the game

It isnt like the Charlton friendly when we get loads of Charlton fans.....we cant count on loads of Arsenal fans

There's loads of Arsenal fans in Plumstead and Woolwich, so adverts could be put in local newspapers in the area.

My son has got a membership at Arsenal i will get him to go onto the clubs main messageboard and advertise the game on there. I think we could be suprised by how many Arsenal supporters would like to attend this game.

It depends what Arsenal team it end up being! if its a youth team its not going to get alot of interest! its not on there web site as a 1st team fixture and these games often end up being there youth guys. Which is good in its own way but we have to be carefull with over hyping it!

Looking back over the last few seasons they only seem to advertise pre season games against Barnet  ( where the reserves play ) and Boreham Wood (where the ladies play) but with our match being played on a saturday a week before the Emirates cup we will have to hope two or three players who didnt go to the world cup will get a run out.

I can't understand the negativity expressed by some about the Arsenal fixture.  Whatever side Arsenal send down everybody knows is that we will be guaranteed a great afternoon's football with our guests, be they youth or not playing football the Arsenal way.

Though not an Arsenal supporter I went to a Worthington Cup game last September where a reserve side which included 16 and 17 year olds gave a demonstration of how football should be played and enthralled a crowd of around 22,000 on a weeknight.

We have one of the top clubs in Europe sending a side to Park View Road for a psf on a Saturday afternoon and it sounds as if some regard it as little better than a game against Micky Collins and Julian Leigh's Erith and Belvedere.

Its the best Friendly weve had for decades. Its one of the best clubs in the world sending their youngsters and maybe a face or two, maybe not.

The Arsenal kids get more first team action than any other team and who knows in future if they have a good day at Welling it may become a permenant fixture and we may get a few first teamers in years to come.

Arsenals kids would beat charlton. They beat everyone else.

Its a magnificent friendly. Lets maximise the day. Lets welcome them, be thankful and enjoy it.

Jamie did well to get the Arsenal friendly - I bet quite a few other clubs in our league are green with envy. Even if Arsenal send a youth team you can bet your life that a number of them will be Arsenal first team players in future - many of them may become foreign international players.

I think there will be a bumper turnout for this one, and we owe a big thanks to the Gunners for agreeing to play us.
