Just as well friendlies don't qualify for best win and worst defeat records. I certainly can't recall any non League side putting 8 past us.
First half I felt that we weren't too bad although Grays were definitely the better side. At half time they went in with a 2 goal advantage, one of which was a well taken goal by Oli and t'other was due to a wicked deflection.
I don't know what happened during the half time team talk but for the first 30 minutes of the second half we played like junior schoolboys, chasing the ball with no thought to where the Grays players were (often two loose players on either one flank or the other.) Grays took full advantage and put 6 past us without reply. We did improve a little in the last 15 minutes eventually managing to get a consolation goal but Grays were still able to, and did, pass the ball round us as they pleased.
Lets hope that todays performance was the off day that all teams have at one time or another. I'm not as pessimistic as the behind the goal gang who were talking in terms of relegation but we do have to put today behind us.
Even though we scarcely troubled them, on todays performance, Grays looked a very competent, pacy side and I think that they should do well in the National Conference.
