Why would he take Warnock and leave behind Baines ?? Warnock hasnt played a minute under Capello this year ...

Similarly, I would take him, but Parker, having not made an appearance under Capello, surely has to be cut from the 30.

It would be nice to see Walcott down at PVR on july 24th if he fails to make final 23.

Can't believe Dawson didn't make the cut. He's been absolutely superb for Spurs this season. Better than King or Terry and certainly better than Ferdinand and Upson. Upson must be jumping for joy to be picked.

Really shocked Walcott didn't make it but in all honesty, I wouldn't have picked him either. He's got pace but no end product.

Not really surprised about the rest but I think Carrick is lucky to get the nod over Huddleston who like Dawson has been superb for Spurs this season.

I feel sorry for Bent but it just looks like his face doesn't fit.

I thought Baines would go instead of Warnock. Also I agree with you Alan - I would have taken Huddlestone over Carrick.

Feels like he wants players with international experience.

Can we win it?

No

I fancy Holland to win and at 10-1 is a damned good bet. I wouldn't feel guilty about backing them either because I've got 25% Dutch blood in me.

I trust the other 75% is a mixture of hobgoblin, old speckled hen, ruddles, et al. biggrin

Taking a half fit Gareth Barry without another holding midfielder to me is a risk and we should not be looking to put the likes of Ledley King in there as a square peg ina round hole.

Scott Parker had a good season in a not so good team. Listening to Talk Sport last night apparantly him and Dawson trained like Demons, did whatever they could but always knew that they would not be going and merely there to please the media selection. Personally I feel Scott Parker has had a bit of a raw deal when all everyone can focus on is the issue of Theo Walcott.

Darren Bent not going is the correct choice in my opinion. I dont compare him to the choice of Emile Heskey but against Jermaine Defoe. He wins hands down in this department.

I think we stand a much better chance now that Ferdinand is out and Dawson is in. Gerrard will be a better captain too.

All we need now is for Terry to suffer the same fate and we'll have an even better chance. That bloke is going to give so many free kicks away and the refs out there won't put up with all the shirt pulling he does in the box. A liability in my opinion.

Surely he wont play Dawson when he chose other defenders ahead of him in the 23?

Its Terry/King for me and if he plays King as a holding midfielder (please dont!) then he will surely pick Carragher or Upson ahead of Dawson to partner the one who cant keep his trousers on.

Huddlestone? Have you seen him in the England friendlies? Way out of his depth.

Parker should have gone ahead of him and Carrick who has had a very poor season.

I think he will play King and wrap him in cotton wool between games

Maybe give him a breather IF we win our first 2 games

The others are too slow to play with Terry who is slow too

Dawson HAS to be in with a shout

Some past England managers have had their best teams forced on them through injury. I never thought Bobby Robson was a very good England manager. His insistance on building the team round Bryan Robson was ridiculous. The bloke could never play more than two games on the trot. I think most of the better teams Bobby Robson were as a result of injuries dictating the selection.

Even Alf Ramsey's winning team was partly brought about through injuries. Greaves would probably have played in instead of Hurst if he hadn't picked up an injury in a previous round which led to Hurst getting a chance. Personally I would have dropped Roger Hunt rather the Greaves but then Greaves was God to me and in the end Ramsey was proved right.

I think the loss of Ferdinand is a blessing. The bloke used to be good but has lost pace and is too undisciplined. Terry is getting the same way too. Good in the air but no pace whatsoever. I keep thinking back to his sending off at Tottenham this season. He's going to be stretched by the world class players he's going to be up against. Carragher and Upson aren't the quickest either. I'm not saying King or Dawson are the quickest of players but they're the quickest centre backs in the squad.

When they announced the 23 we must have the slowest centre backs in the tournament and from what i've seen of them this season both Terry and Ferdinand are not what they use to be like. To Me Dawson was A must every time.

Anyone think he picked Carragher as he running out of options.!! disbelief

I really think Dawson is going to be way out of his depth at this level. Also he hasnt played in any european competition this season which wont help him.
