I went on the brewery tour at Shepherd Neames the other week.

The name Bishop's Finger came from the old road signs that pointed towards Canterbury. The signs were shaped like a hand with pointed finger.

For those that like Bishop's Finger or Spitfire, they're selling it in Lidl this weekend for £1 per 500ml bottle. Sainsbury's are doing Courage Best for £1 and Tesco are doing Spitfire for £1. Lidl also had Fever Pitch by Marston's for £1. All very good value.

From Wednesday, Makro are doing a deal on 330ml Efes which works out at £1 per 500ml and 275ml Carlsberg for 80P per 500ml. They're also doing a deal on that Spanish p*ss San Miguel.

Morrison's are doing Grolsch, Becks and Bud, 3 cases (15's) for £18.

I loved Faversham. Brilliant day out. I went on a Friday when the market was on and had some ****les and whelks at the seafood stall. The Wetherspoons is very nice too. 

Just checked Morrison's website and they've got some terrific offers on.

Most are three cases for £18 and I've done the maths for you and it equates to a price per pint as: -

Stella (bottles) 80P
Carlsberg Export (bottles) 82P
Carling (cans) 65P
Strongbow (cans) 65P
Gaymers Pear Cider (cans) 65P
Guinness Draught (cans) 78P

Now it doesn't allow "salt water" as one word. I suppose if I type S****horpe it will block it.

I tend to use Wetherspoons when there is nothing better. I tend to like pubs with a little more character. My favourite pub there was the Elephant, which happened to be the only non Sheps pub I drank in!

We have toyed with a Wimbledon stop off on the way to or from Woking.

 

I was drinking with a mate on Saturday night and he was drinking a beer - I think by Shepherd Neames - called Late Red - an Autumnal beer. Now that to me sounds like a sensible name!!

Also a beer that is kept in the fridge and served cold - I think I may try that one myself. I used to like the real ale, and Shepherd Neame beers were a particular favourite. I found I got fed up with warm beer - Late Red sounds interesting.

Innis & Gunn Oak Aged Beer - very nice but can't have too many. Ive also got a limited edition Rum Cask version (one of the original 250 bottles), all sealed but i might break it open if England win the world cup! otherwise it's going on ebay

 If The Elephant is the one with the small drinking area out the back of the two good ones on the back road out of the station I seem to recall a 'How hard are you' drinking session out the back before\after a New Years game at Dover with some of you (certainly a green coat was involved!) when it was sub zero.

Anyone tried the new Old Brewery in Greenwich? I went there a few weeks back - very good choice of beers, some local ones, brewed on site etc. Not a 'proper' pub but great beers. Pricey though!

Actually quite a good call as it was a long session and I was working the next day. Drinking the beast would have meant I was not at the races the following day

Quite simple:-

8 pints @ 3.4% with work the next day = fuzzy head but functioning

8pints @6.6% with work the next day = polaxed and a day off feeling line the back end of an ape
