The Hound as heard on WFMU

Interested in Blues, Original R&B, Jump, Swing, Jive, Doo Wop/Acapella, Country, Hillbilly, Rockabilly, Rock and Roll, and even a few 60's/70's tracks or am I alone?

Even if you have only a passing interest in any of the above its well worth visiting The Hound as heard on WFMU site.  Basically it is an archive of a The Hound's radio shows on KFMU broadcast between 1985 and 1995.  The archive is still being added to and you can sign up to receive an email as and when shows are released onto the internet.  Rather than calling up each show you can access a track via a database organised by artist or title.

Simple URL  http://thehound.net

Some of the tracks include the hiss and crackle of obviously well worn 78's/45's - I can't believe they got away with it on air.

Loads of obscure recordings which have never had UK release as well as the well known classics of the genres.  There are even a couple of Rolling Stones and Kinks tracks which I had never heard before.  Taking just a couple of 60's/70's classics you will find Diddy Wah Diddy by Captain Beefhart and the Magic Band and Jack The Ripper by our very own, now deceased, national treasure Screaming Lord Sutch, whose bands included at one time or another Richie Blackmore, Nicky Hopkins, Jimmy Page, John Bonham, Jeff Beck and Noel Redding.

Got this far and haven't a clue about any of the above?  You could do worse than looking through the database sorted by artist and trying a few tracks - you may be pleasantly surprised.

Not sure its legit because many of the tracks are still copyrighted but they can be saved to your hard drive by right clicking on song title and clicking on Save Target As.  There is a more fiddly way to save to your hard disc if you have listened to the streamed track and don't want to go back and use save target as.  If you want to know how to save this fiddly way PM me.
