Wings dominated game but went behind on 35 to a Lee Clarke header. Scott Cousins then should have made it 2-0 to the Visitors but somehow missed the target. Kedwell fired home the equaliser in first half stoppage time. On 52 Matt Carruthers fired home to put the Wings 2-1 , St Albans had another little spell but failed to score. Kedwell got his second late on to make it 3-1. Seconds later he latched onto a Turner kick and lobbed Bastock but his hatrick attempt went just wide. Great Start for the Wings who strangely for a squad of 20 only had 3 subs one of which was Darren Ibrahim the back up keeper.

i don't think we dominated the game but were the better team. i actually think st.albans shaded the 1st half and looked more threatening when attacking. but the 2nd half was a different story.
we controlled the 2nd half more. we didn't create a bag fall of chances but took the ones we did have. it was very positive and the best performance in a while. considering moore and perkins played at center half, in the absence of shearer, for the first time together looked solid.
a st. albans fan said on the conf south forum "St. Albans pissed all over Welling in the first half and Welling pissed all over City in the 2nd. City need to sort our defence out!" a nice summary.
we have a squad of 18 and stadhart, shearer and marsden weren't playing. since we have no second string i hope ibrahim finds himself a sunday league team to get some match pratice, otherwise if we need him in in 3 months he will be ring rusty.
a good start and i'd take a draw on wednesday. is it my imagination or do we always perform below par on mid-week fixtures?
From my perspective to say that we dominated the game today is a case of rose coloured spectacles. The first half was a pretty dour affair with the balance of play slightly favouring St Albans. I believe the turning point for both sides was Kedwell's extra time strike.
We controlled the game for the best part of the second half and Kedwell was very unlucky to not get a hat trick. Thought Perkins did a good job as a stand in centre half and Daisy played a more attacking game than pre season games and still undertook his defensive responsibilities.
No man of the match awarded but it would surely have gone to Kedwell.
