Just a reminder that for those not attending the quiz night there will be a benefit match in memory of Welling legend Stuart White who sadly passed away this summer.
The Welling United Legends XI will be made up of players from the era when Whitey was such a favourite including the likes of Tony Reynolds, Mike Rutherford, Terry Robbins, Duncan Horton etc.
Ashford Town veterans will provide the opposition with the Stuart White Memorial Cup presented to the captain of the victors.
Kick off time is 19:00 at the Homelands Ground in Ashford with admittance set at a bargain £4.00.
Mark, Directions to the Ashford ground are as follows. Come off M20 at junction 10 and follow signs for the A2070, straight across at the first roundabout you come to and at the next roundabout turn left, at the next roundabout go straight across and you are now in the village of Kingsnorth and only about two minutes from the ground which is signposted "Homelands", the kick off is 7.00pm and there is a disco in the large bar afterwards. Should anyone wish to pay their respects at Stuarts grave then when you are in the village of Kingsnorth you will come to the public house called "The Queens Head", turn left there and proceed up the hill to the church on the left hand side, just after the entrance the path splits in two, take the path to the left of the church and Stuarts grave is in the first row. At the moment it is too early for a stone so it is marked with a wooden cross with his name on. Come back down the hill to the crossroads and turn left and you will soon be at the ground. The Welling team will involve players from the 80s/ 90s era including Nigel Ransom, Phil Handford, Gary Abbott, Terry Robins, Tony Reynolds and many more.
Regret it is a day late for me. I am in Whitstable at present (so easy to get to the ground) but need to be back home on Friday due to family commitments. Hope all goes well and a lot of dosh is raised
The game has survived a pitch inspection and is on at the moment.

Re: Stuart White Memorial Game Update « Reply #32 Today at 4:25pm »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry to disappoint you but im affraid Friday is now a no go . After speaking to Wellings manager it is not possible to field a side so soon .This game will be played but now looking for late November
This is the week before the second auction so it doesnt clash this time with a WSU event. I wonder if we could get a coach sorted.
If people want to go by coach if they post in this thread and we get over 20 i will look into getting a quote and running one for those that couldnt get back after the game. If people wanted to pay their respects to Whitey and support the Memorial Cup.
Just put your names in the thead and how many and if inside 2 weeks we get over 20 i will look into it.

Yep i know they do 23 seaters so if we get 20 we could be be able to do it and i will try and get their quote down seeing as its for a charity night, might even be able to get them a mention or advert in the programme to sweeten the cost too. If we get 50 then obviously its a full coach.
Would be good to get a coach down there.
So far
