Very sad to see Charlie go. I think it was predictable after going out of the cup that we would have to look at the wage bill and non contract players would be at risk.
Lets hope the new keeper signing doesn't fall through otherwise we'll be down to emergency loans. Unless Charlie was on a huge wage then it's not the easiest decision to comprehend. Good luck to all three of them in finding new clubs and thanks for all they have done for Welling, particularly Charlie.
Appears we can sign players though ... thats good.
Sorry to see Mitten go full-stop, and I guess this is purely money related. Also, shame to see Cracknell go, but I imagine he is on reasonable money and when everyone is fit he isnt in te starting XI. Surprised it was done this week and not next though as Parkinson is still banned.
Billings, surprised, cant see the money saved there will amount to much.
Good luck Charlie a top bloke who was a good keeper for us and we will do well to sign a better one, Even the occaisional rick or loss in concentration in games were soon cancelled out by a world class save.
Whitehouse is number 2 at Dartford and i would say he would be our new keeper but wouldnt think he would be on less than Mitten. Good luck to Crackers and Ben two good players who will have no trouble finding a club.
Well done to the club for realising they cant go over budget any more. We have to cut our cloth. I think this is for the future rather than to find any money towards the HMRC debt as its money we were leaking.
Id like to know how we have signed acheampong if we are in embargo and how a keeper can sign but if the club have sorted it then superb. I guess we will find out soon in the press.
At least we know the side wont be dismantled as most of the starters have stayed.
Now bloody win the league boys.

How can an embargo still stand when we have signed Acheampong and are signing a keeper? the squad limit of 16 is different from an embargo. An embargo is a restriction on signing and registering any new players.
I can only deduce the club have said to the conference let us juggle our squad to cut the budget and they have complied or they would be restricting us from cutting our spending.

It looks like the league have relented to some degree by letting us sign achempongBarrie said we would have been able to bring in a keeper if Charlie had picked up an injury, whether the same rule applies seeing as we have released him I dont know.
Does anyone know if a Mr Turner is on Non Contract by any Chance?

Signing keeper from lower league is a gamble when you are goin for promotion. Maybe we are getting Ross Warner from Charlton on a season loan or their youth team keeper? Randolph werent bad.

So we have given up the right to have 18 now and are stuck with 16. BUT the point is we had Clarke and Pires and werent allowed to re register them and had to have 3 on the bench, So how can we now have Acheampong and a keeper?
We should have asked them to take pay cuts as Jamie said they would take them and kept 18 players. Weve shot ourselves in the foot again.
Can we now sign who we want asong as we only have 16 registered? Thats not an embargo as we can release people on non contract and replace them now.

watched some of sevenoaks town this season the lad in goal for them simon overland is no mug played for dagenham last season could be in the frame for charlies shirt . on that point good luck to charlie best keeper in the league for the last couple of seasons
I would have got rid of any other player rather than Charlie. He was worth a good few points every season. I bet he goes to a higher placed team. Good luck Charlie.
shocked Charlie has gone...must be because he was on a higher wage otherwise it's madness to get rid
all good teams build from a keeper up and the key to success is a decent keeper - I fear we will get someone second rate in and our results will be affected
This is the reality of where we are though. We have to live within our means. The Court will need to see that we are managing our affairs properly. If we go to court saying that we are still spending more than our income, then we are done for. We have to be able to illustrate that we are a going concerns, even if we pay of the tax man. Don't forget we owe loads more on top of that too.
Living within our means is crucial and not trying to chase tomorrow is being realistic. Whilst we all want the club to do well, the budget and income must govern our outcomes. If that means this season isnt ours then so be it. Not being negative but I would prefer survival rather than promotion
Clearly with the budget we have we have been punching above our weight to get to our current league posiiton. That is credit to Jamie, his staff and the team, a fantastic performance all round
I don't know the financial ins and outs, buy could we not have offered the plays pay cuts, rather than drop them, vastly reducing the size of the squad, and potentially what will probably be inferior players on less wages? Or are we that brassic?'
Ben i said that we could have asked the players to take a cut, i know for a fact one would play for nothing while we sort ourselves and hes on a fair wage. This way we would have kept a squad of 18, now we are down to 16.

The players released yesterday will get a warm welcome whenever they return, and rightly so.
We do get a bit precious about the players who choose to move on though. As an example people got a bit fed up when Sam Hurrell opted to move to a club who train close to where he works (forget about what was written in the Surrey papers, it was big time manipulation of the facts) yet had he stayed it might well have been on non contract terms and he would have probably got chopped yesterday.
It is only the ones who are untruthful (Trebble, Fat Wallet etc.) that I do not like to see come back.
I am sorry to see Charlie and Crackers leave, however the future of the club is paramount. Although sad to see them go lets live within our means, I just hope a new investor can be found quickly and we keep the momentum going.
Owing 55k by December 1st and about the same on a non-time limited debt and we haven't made a profit in the last 2 years on roughly the same gates and commercial income.
I think the answer is probably yes and then some unless you know differently!

Am I right in saying that if you drop the wage of a contracted player then they have the right to leave?
Im not sure you can do that. What is clear is Jamie has kept our strongest eleven and 5 for the bench or rotation and stayed within the budget. It is NOT a cut in the budget it is the budget we were on at the start of the season so we need to get the crowds up to cut the losses.
I have been told by Barry this morning that the budget has not been cut it is the budget that was set at the start of the season which Barrie gave the amount at the supporters meeting.
I think its ss you were chaps no reason for any negativity we still have a strong squad and its all systems go for progressing and keeping up our great league form.
