This question has already been raised but I dont have any answers from the club officially. Its a simple one, how much do we now owe?
I can see all the hard work being done, the auction night, the club kit sponsorship etc but I cannot see any official word from the club as to the current state of play. Yes if you ask Barrie he will tel you but it needs to be in the open, not a guess from a member of the forum in that "we owed, we have raised therefore..."
Are the funds raised actually there in a bank account or a promise? Is the bank account seperate from the every day running of the club. Who has overall responsibility for the monies raised?
Every effort is applauded but I dont know where we are, we need to be better at getting messages out with enough notice eg meetings etc. With proper communication we could achieve greater things potentially
I bought a two-year season ticket for the executive lounge at the end of last year- £500 plus. I put £100 into player sponsorship at the fundraising meeting. I buy scratchcards. I have always bought my drinks in the club bars. I pay £1 a go for sponsoring goals. Yes, this is probably not exceptional but I am not putting a further extra penny beyond these efforts until I hear what is going on in terms of investment and sponsorship.
I did not even realise that the club had problems with debt from last year until we heard the Club's statement about the Conference hearing where they were deducted five points.
Yes, there will be the ever-optimists who slap me down, yes there will be those who say I should be positive and not rock the boat. Yet all we are after is information, and that is in short supply.

bkk has echoed the comments i made on this subject some time ago, but has expressed his thoughts far better than i did. i hope he doesnt suffer the same accusations and abuse that i did from one member of this forum.
Can someone pass this on to Barrie then ... they must know what is owed. Someone, the accountant or solicitor, must have a figure ... or is that part of the reason we are in this mess, that no-one seems to be properly accounting for all these monies.
- you and BKK speak for the vast majority of the supporters I believe
I think that is a fair statement chelwing. It's all very well being told to attend meetings after some home games, but not all of us can even make the games, let alone the meetings. I know this is a public forum and sometimes things are better left inside the realms of the club, but there must be a way of keeping us up to speed.

There seem to be lots of people who can't always make the game but are willing to put their hands in their pocket to help. For example the good people who paid for WIE. They need to be told how their hard earned cash is to be used. You can't keep taking people's money and their good will and give nothing back.
I want to know that the money I have given is going towards the debt and not into somebody's pocket.
I meant in wages - I can see that looks harsh. I am giving money to pay off the debt so we have a club into the future. But with the lack of information I don't know if that money is paying the wage bill now

Hengist, to the best of my recollection you started posting on the forum around the time that Welling Reserves stated appearing in the green and white of Corinthian and there were all sorts of rumours concerning the interest Corinthian might have in taking the Welling United name and therby gaining admission to a more senior level of football. The chosen name at that time was simply Hengist who, for those who know their history with his brother Horsa were the Jute mercenaries who led the first Anglo Saxon invasion of Britain. The event for which he is most remembered being the 'Night of the Long Knives' when his Jute army massacred all but one of the Princes of Britannia having attended a peace feast with concealed daggers.
Subsequently you changed your user name to Hengist aka Old Man Billings after it had been suggested that you were he of Corinthian, something you have never confirmed or denied.
Taking those two things together the implication is that you are in fact a member of the Billings family and that you wanted the Welling United name and were prepared to get it by any means.
Now to the point football is often described as tribal though I prefer to think of the supporters of a Club being a family. Often within a family one can say things which are either regarded as unacceptable when said by somebody outside of the family or provoke a lesser reaction than when said by somebody outside of the family.
If you are indeed a Corinthian Billings do you think it acceptable for a person from a family who own one local club to make posts which can be interpreted as having been designed to promote unrest within the supporters of another local club without some potentially vitriolic posts by return? (On several forums any posts where there is the slightest suspicion of this being the case the posts are deleted) or perhaps the family is football and any such posts are intended to be seen as avuncular?
There is also always the possibility that you are masquerading as a member of the Billings family which I sincerely hope you are not.
Finally and to lighten the mood there is of course the possibility that you are using a corruption of the old English name Hengest meaning stallion and boasting of your prowess.

thanks bruno but whats your point? are you saying that its ok for someone to call me a 'coont' and to make untrue claims that i said the club was hiding something because they believe im old man billings and therefore not a welling fan and not part of the welling family? if in your opinion my forum id is not acceptable please let me know and ill change it. perhaps we could then move on as this, im sure you agree, is rather tiresome.
