The club did say there is a bit of chinese whispers going on and everyone is welcome to call them personally to find the latest if they have any questions.

Well, It's Tuesday - would love some good news for the wings today - PLEASE!
Are we awaiting the results of employing the services of Mr Loophole after relooking at Ben Greenhalgh's contract, finding that Sky TV and Rafa owes us £1m plus sign on fee?
To allow Ben to go off down this route was a very credible and outstanding thing to do, and I fully support it, but in hindsight we are a very nice and kind club sometimes.
Come on you wings (and investors)!

Doesn't the first message in this thread say Tuesday or Wednesday? The worst thing the club could possibly do would be to make an announcement before whatever is happening is settled and jeopardise what may or may not be going on.

It would indeed be a miracle if 'Mr Loophole' could find something in a document which could never have existed under the FA rules.
There being no contract what very creditable and outstanding thing did the Club do?
However, knowing that we are in dire straits at this point in time it would be nice if Sky TV made a contribution to the appeal fund. However we know Sky TV aren't really interested in football itself merely the revenue generated by their exclusive broadcasting rights of matches played by the 'elite' clubs so I think that is extremely unlikely.

Sky must be interested in football otherwise they wouldn't charge so much to watch it. It's more likely that, as we are not a prem club, they haven;t heard about our appeal. It's even more likely that they dont even know about non league football
Dickie to be fair i dont think Fordy wanted to let Ben go at all but he couldnt force him to stay. Its very romantic to think Sky or Inter would stump up a chunk but its a million to one it happening as they dont care and probably have never heard of us or aware of our plight. Could we get a friendly of their reserves and developement squad? possibly if we tried. They go on tours etc.

I was only really joking about most of my post but I am hoping for good news soon! However, I always understood the situation to be with Ben was that he had signed a contract but the club was good about releasing it.
After a bit more research, I find this, which explains...so, there was a contract, but the FA rules came into play.
Ben said: "There were a lot of problems because I had just signed a contract with Welling before I took part in the competition, but because I was under 18 I was able to get out of it. In the end Welling were quite good about it, but it was quite stressful because it still hadn't been sorted out the night before the people on the show needed it to be. I joined Welling because the manager (Jamie Day) said that a professional club would see me and sign me up, but I felt it was a much better opportunity to take part in this competition."

Not sure where the quote comes from but at the time that the competition started the Manager was Andy Ford, Jamie didn't arrive till November. I have no doubt that Ben may well have signed a piece of paper put in front of him by Andy Ford but very much doubt that he was registered as a contracted player with the FA.

Nothing yet, but note they HOPE to make a statement Tuesday or Wednesday. I am sure the Club will post an update soon. I take it no match or friendly this weekend?

If there is no match on that pitch on Saturday it is a massive own goal.
Efforts to get a big friendly are great, but realistically it doesnt look like its happening, and even if it were announced right now this very moment, then what crowd would it pull in at less than 72hours notice ??
Even if it meant the supporters playing on there this Saturday rather than in New Eltham it would surely bring in £750 across the two squads of players and the bar afterwards.

I hope we continue looking for friendlies one or 2 games vs League XIs would bring in £10,000 or more combined as a minimum and more if we could market them. A substantial amount.
Can we get a friendly vs AFC Wimbledon? That would bring in a fair gate?

Ben was still at Darrick Wood school - so would not be binded if the contract had been forwarded to the FA
C 1 A (i) A Player under 18 years of age and in receipt of full-time education may not enter into a contract of employment with a Club in membership of The Association and/or an Affiliated Association.
(...full-time education refers to a child who is of compulsory school age within the meaning of the Education Acts applying in England or who is over the school leaving age but is for the time being attending a school or in full-time education in an establishment of further education.)
More Corinthian than Welling. He was at their opening game of the season against Sporting Bengal.Said he was going on loan to Monza, although he seemed keen to come home.
Just pointing out that he spent more time at Corinthian, than Welling.Sorry if it upset anyone but he did. As for all posts being negative, well i think we are all allowed to have an opinion on Wellings current plight and some of those opinions might not go down well with others, just as Hengist posts have with you Tom and you to Kevin. As for being a Corinthian fan, abit i suppose. I stopped watching Welling about 18 months ago, after 28 years, for reasons id rather not go into on here and i probably wont return until things change.
Actually, Sue has a point. Don't we want things to change at Welling - a secure financial future, more boardroom involvement for supporters' representatives ( ie reps drawn from a subscription-based supporters' association) better facilities (and bar) for supporters and the means to fund ( and continue to fund) a good team?

Well perhaps so, but all the same I dont understand the negativity. If someone is that aggrevied about an incident that has ended 28 years of support then why not just walk away completely, why keep coming back to post "moans".
Negotions continue and the club hope to make a statement tues or weds regarding developments. This is from barry after the final whistle.
Any news yet? As for the ' Commercial ' twosome, what has been done so far? I know of two people that might be interested in taking on the challenge if they were invited to do so. They have the time and inclination to get results and would, so I'm lead to believe, take on the work at the same rate as the ' others ' We need results and we need them now.
I agree. What worries me is the longer these negotiations take the more concerned I am. We were unable to arrange a friendly against a big team on a Saturday when there were no Premiership, Championship or international games in the UK and therefore missed out on paying off a large chunk of the debt. It seems these negotiations really are our only hope.
Does anyone have any inside knowledge ?
Eric - I know you are a regular on this forum and although appreciate there are certain things you have to keep confidential is there anything you can tell us ?
The longer it goes on the more the "investor" calls the shots as we will become increasingly desperate. Also, these commerical managers ... why do we not know who they are ... four weeks in and we dont even know their names.
sibsey? and pleydryll from bexley borough fc they are Kev their proper names will be on bexley borough site. But i am not aware they have raised any money or even what their plans are., which is a bit crap seeing theyve been there 6 weeks or 2 months?

The commercial manager is a Richard Playdell according to the club information on the main site. They came over as keen at the last WSU meeting but also would be interested to see what they have done.

They can be as keen as they like, but are they getting anywhere? I know that in this downturn of our economy things are not so good, but feedback is essential, not only from them, but the club too.
It is understandable that supporters are becoming anxious waiting for news updates and I fully appreciate the frustration that is building up daily.
Barrie has kept me updated throughout the negotiations with all the latest developments, but has also requested that he will make the announcements via the website when he feels it is the right time to do so. I must respect his wishes on this, as it is his prerogative to request this, being one of the owners of our club.
I can tell in the tone of his voice that it is his wish to announce the outcome ASAP, but equally, these kind of negotiations do take time to reach agreement.
Be patient, although it is getting us all down each day that passes by, but very soon our club could be in a much stronger position than it has been of late, if both sides do reach an agreement.
