Eric, as a regular contributor to this forum I wondered if there is anything you can update us all on re the takeover ?
We all understand things are progressing well but with less than two weeks to D day it would be great to hear something official from the club before tomorrow
Lou, I fully understand everyone is anxious to hear any updates on the takeover situation. I have had no recent updates, and can only repeat what Barrie has told us all so far.
Last Saturday, I had the privilege of entertaining these gentlemen who are involved in the talks, and found them to be very nice people with a good knowledge of Non League Football. It was a pleasure meeting them, and I came away from the game convinced that with their involvement, Welling United F.C. would be a much stronger and successful club, offering so much more to the local community.
With this in mind, I am very confident that the talks will soon be completed, and we shall all then be able to say together "It was certainly worth all the waiting, and now we can move onwards, to better times ahead".
I would say considering I led a group of investors who had the money to pay off the debt and make a key player purchase or two to push for promotion this season and we were shut out that they are very close to a deal. I really hope they are or it would be a shame.
I would say have a word with your chaps, cos you may get a couple of days notice if the deal doesnt go through. But we are only taking your word for this, also if it was recently or when they were in discussion with the current people then you can see them saying "no" to you.
