At first sight the announcement indicates that the immediate target of raising enough money to pay the petition debt next week looks to be within reach. The balance in the solicitor's account stands at £29,250 with a definite £4,000 pledged from the supporters group. However from the minutes of the meeting it appears that £15,000 was already in the account at the time of the Court hearing. 35 supporters have apparently pledged loans (of at least £500) but what is not clear is how many of these pledges are reflected by the increase in the bank account of roughly £15,000. It would be helpful to have an idea of the value of the outstanding pledges as this has an important bearing on the balance still to be found.
Good to know what's been paid in so far. Good, detailed set of minutes from Patsy, too.
As we're edging ever closer, I hope that some other fans will see that we only need a few more loans to get there and will contribute. I know some people are thinking about the sustainability of the club in future, but the new transparency and promise of a supporter on the Board should help abate those fears a bit. Think of giving a loan as a bit of a gamble, the prize being the existence of Welling United; only bet what you can afford to lose. If the gamble pays off, the short-term future of Welling is secured and you'll get repayments / season tickets in future years.
Excellent that individuals can enter the sponsorship draw. Would be fantastic if a link to the form could be put onto the main site so that supporters (and businesses) can sign up.
I think 22 completed the forms, but not all have actually transferred their money / handed in their cheques yet. I suspect we'll see that total grow significantly by the end of the week.
a big thank you to those you have been in a position to spare some cash to the club, I like everyone else am oppomistic that we can get through this.
Wouldnt be great at half time at Luton to see a cheque handed to the club for the full amount - win lose or draw sunday there would be no greater feeling than leaving the ground and knowing we have a future.
fingers crossed .
