As stated by others in previous threads we have no money to do major revamp of bar - granted
But we could probally do a Claire Sweeney TV Show type of make - over ourselves.
If we have a make - over day or two in the closed season - paint/ artex the down stairs bar - white with a tint of Red - If Bruno and his team can hold back some vintage shirts - we frame them and hang the on the wall along with a framed photos of past welling players and welling memorabilia etc .
We could even have photo's of the youth teams as a star of the future?.
it may end up looking tacky but at least would make it - look like a Wings themed bar.
If we can not have sky at present we make sure football focus results on H/T & F/T or we play dvds of past welling games - iE if are playing Staines we play dvd highlights of past Welling Staines games - their supporters would feel welcome and probably opposing fans would appreciate it - I am sure JGFC must have an archive of games. Classic Welling games on at other times until we can afford Sky
The sad reality is once again the onus will end up on the fans goodwill would probally come in play yet again to do the work, (although I would suggest that we advertise for help with the Bexley Council Volunteer Service if a goer).
It would probably mean we ask people to turn up with a paint bush and donate a tin of paint or bag of artex etc.
In my view at least the volunteers to be rewarded with vouchers for a free drink or two, which can be redemmed in the bar on a match day
Any Thoughts
Please note this is not intended as a solution - but as a starting point suggestion to generate more income.
However major stumbling block - we need permission from Barrie

Whilst this may help I don't think it is the answer. I have been in many dingey (non football) club bars over the years that have been very busy.
Would a 'Happy Hour' from terrace opening time until 14:15 be an answer with drinks sold cheaper? Would simple things like cheese rolls and ham rolls help? Does the bar sell crisps and peanuts.
Obviously more than two staff of which one is collecting glasses would help at peak times on a busy day? I saw people walk away due to not being able to get served and others saw the scrum at the bar and did not even bother trying.
Incidently, for those who did manage it, the St Austell's Tinners Ale was very tasty!!
Mark has hit it one, Rolls, Pies can get a heated cabinet on ebay cheap as chips , Variety of Drink (Real Ale EVERY match for those that want it), Get 200 bottles from LIDL at £1 a pop and sell for £2.40 make £1 a bottle after VAT, Happy Hour to end an hour before kick off, Raffle/Prize for all who spent over a fiver, Sport on TV or DVDs until 30 mins before kick off is the way to get it moving, lick of paint and photos wont bring people in. I would even put the WSU/Supporters desk inside the bar too to bring people in.
Where the bar suffers is its obviously not run as an operation, so stock is below required levels as money from takings goes elsewhere, variety of drink and little things like mixers not being there every time isnt good. Running out of different beers all the time is going to harm attendance in the bar.
Obviously the club has been skint so its understandable why this has happened. I would guess the brewery is a creditor and we need to pay that off then get another brewery in when the new constitution is running.
We also need someone overseeeing the bar and TELLING the club what is going to happen, not the other way around.
Lot of people have had a good time in a dive and if you increase custom then you build funds for improvements.

I like Morph's idea of decorating the club bar in the close season.... most of you will have nothing else to do on saturdays TBH I cant see Barrie minding the place being done up as long as it doesnt cost him anything...
I take it that welling do not wish to pay for more bar staff... so the other idea is to use plastic glasses (like league clubs do) and then the bar staff can concentrate on serving instead of collecting and washing glasses...
If someone asks Barrie about permission to refurb the bar now. He might come back with a Yes or No answer sometime around errrrrr........ 2014ish. That`s if he can be bothered!

Morph, whilst I appreciate your efforts, tarting up the bar by re painting and putting up a few shirts is about as pointless as rearranging the deckchairs on The Titanic in the context of the club losing £50k a year. The bar is too small, the floor area too small, the furniture crumbling and out of date, bar understocked etc, etc
Would n't WUSA be better drawing up plans for a full re-furb of the clubhouse? This needs to include the downstairs bar, exec lounge and catering facilities- all of which to be staffed professionally. Then seek ways of finding the money.

Some excellent points being raised, and I bow down to all of them. However, just a follow-on from Chris' very good suggestion. Could we bedeck the ceiling in gold, the walls with mosaics and have parquet flooring. As well of which build a 300 square-foot terrace with stunning views of Park View Rd.
Just to clarify to all: - this was a personal suggestion in response to threads saying how shabby the club house looks and recognizing we have no money available I tried to suggest an idea to do something within our means. - and not a policy or thoughts of the WUSA.

Good to see you at the game on Saturday Trigger. Shame that you were strapped into your Bathchair and handcuffed to the Warden. It was amazing to see the Warden and your two nurses getting you up the stairs to the executive lounge - even funnier seeing you come down
Indeed sir (Cynical), I get taken into a little room behind the upstairs bar where all the bottles of beer are kept and keep company with other mentally unstable people.

I think thats a great idea and I am up for travelling to the ground to help!!
Its a start like all the other ideas we have to start somewhere
I think that the auction night had some hot food.......Chilli and Pasta....why not have that in the clubhouse during the cold weather and then the guy outside could provide too
All these ideas are fantastic and will go some way in helping take more money on match days but wont doesnt help is when your drinking in the bar and get served and the barman turns round and says you best drink it quick as we are shutting. Now the bar is in theroy where we should make some serious money, now i realise people have homes to go to but at 6pm??? if people are spending money in the bar cleary you dont throw them out. There was 1500 + there yesterday and probably 50-65 in the bar after the game at most and a lot of them are players and officials from boths sides that should tell us something. I think Sky is a great idea but costly, paying a couple of decent looking young ladies £30 a shift to keep people in the bar after the game is a viable option, no offence to the 2 blokes who obviously are giving there time up for free but that sort of attitude is one of many reasons the bar isnt taking the money it should. Thoughts???
Having decent looking barmaids in the bar seems an obvious idea to me, and the club would take in a lot more than it would cost to pay them to work there.
My dear Patsy, I have found the perfect cost efficient way to get past you. I contacted 'Models R Us' and for £300 hired a male model to go into the ground a minute before myself. I also gave him £5 to use on buying scratch cards. Whilst you were transfixed by his looks and charm I sneeked in and got past you. Thereby saving a hard earned pound.
Fantastic I thought, then I got caught by 'Blondie'.
