OK...A football thread only!!!!

So...we are currently in 5th.....Some teams have games in hand... we have to play...Braintree away, Eastleigh home and away, Farnborough Home, Chelmo Away, Woking Away, Bromley Home.....So what do we think?????


can we make the play offs

I have to say that if we do....

A) It just sounds like one BIG Piss Up

B) It would probably be the best effort by any team and management for ages....16 players....Embargo.......Financials......etc etc

Personally i think it maybe comes down to 2 Games....Eastleigh Home and Away

At least 4 points and we can do it

I havent seen a group of guys playing as a real TEAM for many years...I think they truly want to do it.

Up the Wings.

We can do it. The other teams at the top have a lot of games against each other ... we need a lot of draws elsewhere and Welling wins and we are in the hat.

Dover did us a favour and beat Eastleigh tonight, rather have the teams below us than above us. Eastleigh would have gone ahead again had they won.

Look at your matches from mid March onwards , virtually every one a "must not lose" match. By then some may have become "must wins." If Welling get to the play offs they will be one of the form teams at the time. I hope those five points don't prove crucial.

Thurrock, Weston, Dorchester and Basingstoke all to come at home
St Albans and Stortford Away Win 4 of them minimum not unreasonable based on this season so far

Farnborough and Ebbsfleet at home Win one at least

Woking Away (beat them 2-0 and 5-0 last two games)

Braintree Away (Everyones getting toshed by them)

Eastleigh home and away Get 4 points

Beat Bromley if we have to replay (70 points) and thats allowing for losing to Woking AND Braintree and either Farnborough and Ebsfleet where id fancy us to get something from either of the 3.


I think thats a more than acceptable run in myself... Im confident the way our players have performed we can get in the 70s in points at least.

As for must not lose that would apply to all teams in the play off areas from now on.

Our record against the top 10 has to improve for us to make the play-offs, starting on Saturday against WSM. I'd back us to get maximum points against the other 12 teams though. Next three games:
WSM (H)
Bishop's Stortford (A)
Dorchester Town (H)
all have to be won.
Either way it's been a brilliant effort by the players this season

Good call Tom - we can do it.  The frogs did us a huge favour tonight and it appears that any team in this league can be beaten.  We have no-one to fear, we just have to believe in ourselves and play our natural game.
The guys have performed minor miracles and will continue to perform to the best of their ability.
We will make it to the play offs.

What we have , that the others have to prove, is team spirit and guts, no other club can deny that, its there for all to see.

Weve proved it, i am backing us to continue to prove it. Weve had players out, not allowed to have ONE sub vs bromley and still outplayed them. Our boys do it week in week out.

We have equal home and away games vs play off rivals and then 4 very winnable home games and 2 very winnable away games, then we have the mixer games.. Eastleigh H and A and Woking, i see those as bonus games as im backing us to win 4 of the very winnable games. If we win 5 or 6 then the other play off teams are in trouble... BIG TROUBLE... Win the winnable games and the pressure is on our rivals for the games versus them.

Come on you wings, Let them worry about us. We have players back back soon.. Two players who have played superbly this season, what a bonus that is for the run in. We also have a proven goalkeeper now whos won titles. Acheampong and Bellamy have stepped up to the plate too.

I agree with Cynical, we WILL make the play offs and if the conference bring in a rule that all our players should be called malcolm and deduct us points...we dont, we will piss the league next season with no embargo or 5 points off, Jamie will continue to improve us if the players stick around next season, only needs one or two of them to come out in the press and say i want to sign for next year and the rest will.

If we get in the play offs or go up then I would sign all of them for next season.

Get behind them, they will reward us. All for One and One for all.

Fear is for the other teams, They havent run through walls , lets see them learn how to do it as games come thick and fast, we will just carry on smashing through the walls.

We have a team brought together by a good player and management team, We see the footballing philosophy this team believes in week in week out.I think this Welling side is the best team to watch in the BSBS bar none.We have difficulty picking any one player as player of the match or month or season so far, showing they all have talent and all want to do well.
In the bar after last saturdays game Loui walked in to applause after his great winnig goal.
An example of the good humoured great team spirit they have all developed.
We can make the playoffs, We can win the playoffs.
Our support will help, we must not let them down, we must show we appreciate how they have dealt with all the problems faced so far.
Surley our luck will turn in our favour.
So its onwards to a successful most enjoyable season.

Definitely the best time to be watching Welling for many years with the team showing true grit and determination with a widespread of individual skill but should we achieve the impossible and dare I say it get promoted can the club afford it? The Conference Premier is completely different to the one we got relegated from what seems like a lifetime ago. It is nice for this to be a genuine topic for once as this team can go places if we keep them together - Discuss!
