Last three games have been piss pooor- 383, 470, 525.
I know there are various reasons for this but for a club chasing promotion to the Conference it really is embarrassing.
Perhaps we, as supporters, could organise some kind of poster campaign for the last 5 games? Getting crowds up to 800 or so would give the players a massive boost.

I saw a Welling United poster in Tesco's yesterday on their community board, it seamed to be listing all the home games - problem was all the trolleys were parked is infront of the community board and people cannot get close enough to read.

Crowds are down across a lot of non league cubs. Money is one issue but also today's lifestyles have affected attendances. People work longer hours, at weekends, kids have a variety of afterschool/weekend activities, people play football at centres like Goals, people go to the gym, cinema, late night shopping etc etc. All things that never really happened back in the 80s/early 90s.
Massive drop on prices worked for Charlton the other week (full house on a fiver).
Perhaps a 'pay what you think' day that's been mentioned before. I just can't see the club taking risks at the moment though.

Disappointing attendances but I have to say that in terms of attendances:-
1. there are only 7 Clubs whose average attendances are up this season and we have attracted the 2nd highest number of additional bodies (91 up on last year and only beaten by Lewes). 2. Our increase in attendance in percentage terms is the third highest at 17%. (only exceeded by Lewes and Boreham Wood) 3. the League average attendance is down by 9.8% which if applied to our last years average would see us with an average of 53 less people each match.
On gates alone I calcculate that Chelmsford, Havant, and Woking are all losing £1500 or more per match on the gate this season though they may of course be recouping some of this via sponsorship, bar use etc.
What does this tell us? 1.Welling has maintained a higher percentage of its hardcore support this season than all bar: Lewes who were relegated from the Premier, who averaged 101 less supporters per match than us last season, and whose current average is 38 better than ours; and Boreham Wood who were promoted, who averaged 368 less supporters per match than us last season and whose current average is 405 less than ours. 2. Welling have managed to account for the decreased average support of other clubs, which will undoubtably have affected away support, far better than other Clubs. 3. With minimal advertising having been done we have achieved compared to other Clubs so if we get ourselves out there in terms of publicity there is surely potential to improve on our current attendances.

All fair points Bruno, but one of the major reasons for our mean average going up is the addition of the Dartford game. If anything our own support has probably gone down a little, but the hardcore are still there. Just get really pissed off with CAFC lording it over Bexley.

If we reduced the Dartford gate to the average of last years Christmas and Easter BH games we would still have an average of 54 more people through the gate at each game. This would effectively add Bromley to those above us both in terms of %ages and bodies by a small margin.
With 11 of the 22 sides in our Division having gates which are down by a figure of between 9.3 and 24.4% it shows just how serious the financial position is for many non league clubs and shows how fortunate Welling United are to have such a hard core support and such a promising management team and squad.

I notice you felt the need to cut, copy and paste Bruno's post, but not the whole sentence, just the bit that would back up your pathetic non-entity of an argument. Id rather repeat the praise of the management squad and team.

Erm... we'll obviously ,Kevin, seeing as though that was the only part of the post I thought was stretching reality somewhat. I certainly have no argument with the 'praise the management, squad and team' bit. Personally I think they've been quite magnificent during the (ahem) difficulties. The hardcore support on the other hand....
Oh, by the way Kev, please feel free to send me more of your abusive private messages. They do so amuse one.

I suppose that it depends what we regard as hardcore support. Personally I regard it as the percentage of your supporters who turn up week in and week out through thick and thin. There has only been 1 game at Park View road where the gate has been less than 75% of the average gate and that was the Maidenhead game though the Weston game came pretty close (but there was a home game in the RBS 6 Nations competition on that day which may have had some impact.) Consider this fact with together with the increased average attendance this season which I suggest indicates that a substantial percentage of those who regularly attended PVR last year have also done so this year. I doubt that there are more than 1 or 2 clubs in the division who can match this scenario.
Perhaps The Shadow regards hardcore support purely as the number of supporters going through the turnstile and not the percentage of the average gate who attend week in and week out season after season through thick and thin .
Added to the above the supporters donated around £5.5 at a meeting arranged to discuss the announcement made 2 days earlier by the Club that HMRC had issued a winding up petition in August. In December the supporters raised almost £65K via loans to the Club within 6 days to ensure that the Club was not wound up by HMRC. With no commercial department at the Club and no rich benefactors supporters have also organised events specifically to raise funds to stave off HMRC's attempts to wind the Club up. Again I doubt that there are many Clubs who could have achieved what Welling have through their hardcore supporter base.
All in all I stand by my statement that Welling United are fortunate to have what I regard as such a hardcore of support.

Support is support through through thick and thin. The financials have proved that and no doubt the hardcore support will be there against Ebbsfleet despite yesterdays loss.
