Many of you will have seen, and no doubt admired, the display board which has been on show at the WUSA table and was first prize in the raffle at last night's Acoustic Band Night.
For those of you who have not seen it, the board measures approx 40" x 29" and features a team photo of this season's squad surrounded by 18 separate photos featuring individual members of the squad. All but two of these individual photos have been autographed by the players concerned. All are in full colour.
I was the winner of this prize last night but have nowhere to display this board which would remotely do justice to all the time and effort which have obviously been put in to making it.
Patsy has told me that there has been a great deal of interest from fans in winning this item and I have therefore decided to auction it via this forum. It would make a wonderful present for any young Wings supporter or would be a great item to have for any collector of Wings memorabilia.
I do not wish to benefit financially from this item so whatever the amount of the winning bid, I intend to retain just £2, which was the cost of the raffle tickets which won it, with the rest of the money being donated to the Help The Heroes collection at the Farnborough game on April 9.
All bids should be submitted to me by PM. Bidders should show their maximum bids. The deadline for bids will be 6pm next Sunday,3 April. I will try to update the amount of the leading bid on here each day (the bidder's name will not be shown). The bid I will accept as the winner will be a figure from the person with the highest maximum bid which is £1 above the next highest maximum bid (hope that makes sense).
It should be noted that the winning bidder will need to visit my house in Bexleyheath armed with his/her cash to collect the board at some agreed time before the Farnborough game in order that the donation to the charity can be made on the day.
If anyone has any queries about any of this, they can post them on this thread or PM me. Any raised today I will answer tonight after I return from Chelmsford.
If your look very closely you will see ALL have been signed but not all where they should have been.
You are, of course, quite right Patsy. There are clearly a couple of our players who do not like to play by the rules!
Many thanks to the four people who have placed bids today. There is a reason why I am not divulging the amount of the highest bid at the moment but I will say that the second highest bid made is £30 so there is now no point in anyone bidding less than that amount,
Keep the bids coming. The money will go to an excellent cause.
Many thanks to today's bidder. The leading bid is now £75.
Due to a busy weekend including a trip to a certain town in Surrey I will be unable to post any further updates on the leading bid before the deadline of 6pm on Sunday.
I suggest that anyone interested in going above £75 makes sure they bid their maximum offer as the winning bid will be £1 above the second highest bid.
I will PM the winning bidder during Sunday evening to agree arrangements for collection and payment.
Many thanks to all of those who made bids in the auction. Thanks to you a sum of £72 will be donated to Help for Heroes.
The winning bidder requested anonimity at the time of placing the bid and I will not therefore be releasing the winner's name unless they authorise me to do so.
