ADRIAN Pennock is hoping the FA Cup will stir his Welling United players on to more success after their impressive start to the Nationwide Conference South season. writes Alex Leach.

Saturday's 1-0 home win over Hayes saw Pennock's Wings fly to third in the table and he is now looking for similar form in the world's most prestigious domestic cup competition.

He said: "It's the FA Cup, it's the best competition in the world in football terms and I want to do well in it, the supporters want to do well in it and obviously for financial reasons, the club want to do well in it too."

Boreham Wood are league leaders in the Southern League Division One East, but Pennock rightly feels his side will go into the away game as firm favourites.

He said: "We are not going to underestimate Boreham Wood. They will be a difficult side to play against, but we are the favourites to go through.

"We'll have to do things right and be 100 per cent focused on what we've got to do on Saturday. It's the FA Cup and we've got to give it our all.
