Whitehouse might stay, Possibly Coyle. Possibly Andrews, Acheampong Possibly Heffernan. The good thing is that a lot of them will go to tribunal if they want to go so the club will get compensation and our coaches have badges and will have developed the players. Hopefully if the tribunal see a few cases they will stop it being like vultures and come down on the clubs side.

If Pughie and Parky are off you will lose more. Like Cumbers, Faz, Clarkey the squad will be disintigrated.

IF JAMIE DAY COMES OUT AND SAYS I WILL BE WELLING MANAGER NEXT SEASON... you will keep most and whoever wants to go let them go and get on with it.

We need day/Clareke/Pugh/Cumbers and Parky to commit then i think the rest will too.....

I think this team owes it to 'themselves' to give it another go as i think they could actually WIN the league next season

Mark

I agree IF Jack committed and Clarkey they would all stay. If they can tell the vultures to sod off and Daisy can get some of them committing before they are lured then we have a chance. Has anyone tried signing them? Nothing in the press about offers being made or negotiations. Does that mean the manager isnt sure if he will be here? If hes staying you would have thought that Players would have signed given how well the season has gone until recently on the pitch.

If we had got some to sign for next year then they wouldnt have clubs sniffing offering them contracts and we probably wouldnt have played disjointed  against St Albans and Thurrock.

I really hope the players stay i really think that if nothing come of this season we could win the league.

I have a bad feeling tho as iv been told by somebody i know that 2 of the players that you have mentioned have been approached by 2 clubs in the playoffs at the moment and just hope the offer is not to tempting.

There is an assumption in all this that we will have the money to pay this calibre squad. That means either our income goes up (not seen obvious signs of it yet) or their wages go down (which, if it is your only or main source of income may encourage you to look elsewhere).

Until the how is sorted, the who is probably largely irrelevant.

and this is the reason why i wont blame any player who leaves to be honest - how many of us moves jobs for more cash and if there was still the lingering threat of a paycut or not getting paid at all again then i wouldnt want to stay if something better came along

i might get shot down in flames for this post but it's just a sad fact of our situation and the fact that nothing has changed at the club

I agree with that J, if they go they go. I havent seen any commercial drive to be able to have the same budget next year and say come on guys lets go same again and we will make sure that the seasons problems are learnt from. But it does make a mockery of the season and the reasons for staying if they did jump ship. Some will go for more money as you say, its football at our level, Would be a shame after the fans efforts and its the fans who have to pick up the pieces.

Lets hope we get a bit of luck on Saturday, and get in the play offs and get some more cash, maybe go up, but if we dont go up and then the players choose to reject other clubs and commit to us. I am bricking it that we will be right up the crapper with a **** budget no players and a manager. Once one or two commit i will stop bricking it. The leaks of players talking with other clubs arent what we want to hear.

Welling cannot compete financially with the big boys but we can give them a good go on the pitch. It's a shame that we have virtually a new team/squad nigh on every season these days but until we can afford to keep this sort of team that's the way it wil be. I do agree that if Daisy remains the bulk will follow suit but cannot blame anyone leaving for a club in a higher league.

I have to agree 100% with that Trooper.  How can the club sustain a position in the Conference Premier when it has struggled in the Conference South? If it were not for the supporters, the club would have folded and yet still, the old regime is in place and do not appear to have made any progress.  Where is the new constitution? Where are the new sponsors? How much more can the players, management and supports take?

My feeling at this moment in time is this;

We have an excellent squad, so much so that for most of us, we have struggled to decide on player of the season.
Good players/teams don't go un-noticed, it's inevitable that scouts will be watching.
If we don't go up, what incentives will there be to keep our team? What attracts or keeps a workforce?
Job security, benefits and financial reward. Will players have this? Will the management team have this?
A lot of people raised money this year and I am assuming that this money will create a large deficite for the next season so I would think that the playing budget will be affected.
Then, if we do go up (which we will). Players may be tempted to stay as playing at a higher level may improve their marketability. But what is the market rate for a player in this division? Will we be able to afford it on top of the increased variable costs (staffing and travelling ect)?

For me it looks as though we need an investor/s or we concentrate on the most important issue, one of long term survival.

We've played the best football I've seen for several years, we have a higher level of skill at the club, we have a great backroom staff with Ashby and Frost, excellent manager and we've had great support from the fans.

Then you look at the club itself....enough said.

If players go, and worse, anyone of the management team then I'll still be proud of them despite possibly losing most of the points above. If the club doesn't get sorted off the field who could blame them anyway? Loyalty doesn't exist much in any level of football now but it does with me. That's why I'll be there again next season.

I don't see players 'jumping ship' at the end of a season when a contract is up. Surprised many didn't though when wages weren't paid - for that I respect them.

Trigger, I think someone's hacked into your account and posted something sensible.  I was waiting for the punchline...

Gary and Trigger very sensible. If they fulfil their contract then theyve stuck it out and if a contract cant be offered thats comparable then they are free to go. Wouldnt quite last in the memory as a season but not as bad as the players in the past that have agreed to sign like booth or have sodded off mid season after a pound note. And players like Parky and Faz and others committed this season after having offers elsewhere.

Would just be gutting if this team broke up and we had to start again. Maybe its just a young team that have just ran out of steam or not found out how to win things yet. The thing is we dont hear that x player is being tapped up by Welling it always seems to be our players getting unsettled.

Maybe getting stressed for nothing as if one of Woking or Chelmo balls up and we finish in style then its mission accomplished for the season, just a shame its not in our hands.
