Following on from other threads on here and, shamelessly nicking the idea from Woking, what about a scheme to increase the budget for Daisy for next season.
Firstly I do realise that we would be tapping the same well over and over again in some cases but it doesn't have to be like that and can include sponsors and such like in the scheme. I sense from the last WUSA meeting and at the presentation evening that supporters of this club have a genuine desire to move forward together and strengthen the club in the short, medium and longer term.
For argument's sake say 150 people contributed £ 10 per month (some could do less, some might do more) that would be £ 1,500 towards the playing budget every month (or 300 - 400 per week)
Of course it should be run as a WUSA initiative and the money should go into a playing fund controlled by them and not by the owners.....
I would be happy to help out on in trying to coordinate and administer such a scheme and I presume that we could collect the monies via Paypal and/or have a separate account to direct any funds to.....
There is a concern out there Wingnut that whilst we do all this work it means the club doesn't do anything e.g comercial activity. It seems to me that we could reach a situtation with all the WUSA activity and an idea like this, that we are practically paying for the club to go forward but still we still have no say in the running of the club. We await the new constitution.
I think we would have difficulty in attracting that many people to pay a regular amount - that is more people than have signed up for WUSA membership. I am not against the idea in principle but would want to see it combined with a a genuine change from the club - a new constitution with genuine say for the supporters - not token gestures or a chance for us to give a view which can be ignored, combined with a a real sign that the club itself was making a real effort to bring in new money though a variety of means and not just to rely on the same old faces.
Next season we will have the sponsor a goal again, sponsor the kit etc (and after paying out for two executive lounge season tickets) I worry about how much money this club is taking from its supporters.
Having said that the football and the results have been great and I would like to see more of that. If Jamie had the money, most of the squad and a level playing field (i.e. no points reduction) I think we could win this league next year

i agree with all of this
i would be happy to contribute a bit extra if it meant we could keep most of last season's squad but things need to change a bit before i do - i dont want to turn this into another hobbin's bashing thread but what serious changes have been made after all the troubles? the answer is nothing

It's hard not to do that though isn't it, seeing as sod all has changed at the club since all that talk about a new constitution etc. And it's perfectly ok for you to bring it up, seeing as the Hobbins family are relevant to any conversation about the players budget for next season. How long have we all been saying on here that there should be a commercial department?
We have to find another sponsor and ****ed up royally doing it for 50 quid cos we rushed it, the true rate is 200+ now youve done it for 50 ... try doing it for 200... no chance.
I think the fans will help again but need to see some action from the club. Still we havent hit every shop in welling, bexleyheath and sidcup with flyers for advertising boards or programme adverts or main sponsor packages. Its not even funny its a minimum requirement to try and bring in money.
If we have this squad and have done a bit to get some money in then the fans will help, buthave we improved 1% commercially since the fans bailed out the club? We havent got a lot of nouse. Ill be fecking annoyed if we dont have 5 or 6 home friendlies and then slash the budget and have to lose players.

I completely agree with some of the points raised on here.
I understand that people are unwilling to act until they see some signs of life at the club commercially. But, under the current regime, that is not going to happen. Nothing happened last season and I haven't seen signs of any change since the s*** hit the fan before we had even kicked a ball last season....
My suggestion was trying to be proactive. If we wait for the owners to show even a modicum of commercial nous then I fear we will be in for a rather long wait.....
A local businessman I know, close to being a millionaire I would have thought, with slight links to the club, and strong non-league links in general, considered buying the club, or at the very least clearing the debts or similar.
Guess what, despite being well known to the current owners, he wasnt even phoned.
Joke.
Pro-active my arse. Hear Hear Wingnut.

The previous sponsorship was effectively for 1/3 of the season, and like you say, rushed. So now it would be for the full season and if marketed better this time, surely £150 minimum per ticket is do-able?

If the one of list in the programme was anything to go by £50 was too much for most as the take up was really poor and so I suspect £200 a go would have been a flop.
As for local businessmen - heard it all before but then at the last moment they seem to change their minds. If we are going to have new owners they need to have the interests of the club at heart, not just someone who does it for a bit of kudos and then jumps ship as soon as they realise it's an expensive game to play.
I think Wingnuts idea is excellent and I'd be happy to join such a scheme. I was gutted to miss out on the playoffs, it hit me harder than I thought it would after 25 years of in the most disappointment watching Welling. We can all sit back and say things have got to change, but if the Club is to grow then we need to be a part of that. Woking have the right idea - it should be what can I do for our Club not what can it do for me.
It's a tough economic world out there and sponsors aren't going to be easy to come by, we made progress at the end of the season - matches were sponsored and gates were up. We should build on that and hopefully the Club will grow and the sponsors of games like Ebbsfleet and Basingstoke will hopefully realise that Welling are a club worth investing in. But if the budget is cut and the best players go elsewhere then we'll be back to square one.
I would like to see the Supporters whatever it is involved in this. Decorating the bar and all that is a good idea and will hopefully increase revenue streams but supporting success on the pitch comes first in my opinion.
I know the club needs to move forward as well - I bugged Matts conversation on the coach to Braintree (ok I sat in front of him) and thought he talked a lot of sense (he was still sober at the time) but to say I won't do anything until we have new owners or such like may mean that last season won't be repeated for some years to come.
I would feel that some of the creditors we have may well be local businesses. I get a feel that our repeuation in the surrounding community maybe needs to be enhanced before we could entice serious sponsorship.
Like all I have seen little action in terms of movement from the club in getting a supporter on board and like all others until I see some progress in releasing the clubs shackles I like others would be reluctant to do anything in thsi direction
