at least its only a few K . We should hang fire until Monday. The good thing is if cleared then we are all upto date with the taxman. Our gates were good towards the end of the season so hopefully they really are close to clearing it.

From my reading of the web site I don't think they are asking WUSA to pay. In order to do that they would have to approach the WUSA directly and this could only be agreed at a meeting of the WUSA not at a meeting called by the Club and to which other people are invited.
So at this meeting are to we expect some financial transparency? Some indication of a structure to keep this club alive? Plans for the club going forward? A new constitution?
We need answers, not statements every year about fighting off the taxman.
"A meeting is being held on Monday evening at 7.45pm to which all members of WUSA and the lenders group are duly invited where more detailed information will be available and the Club will seek to answer any questions that Supporters / Lenders will have"
Is that only WUSA or Lenders are invited? Also if Lenders are invited its not a WUSA meeting is it and also the only people who could call a WUSA meeting are the committee or its members?

It does look like only WUSA and lenders are invited. It clearly isn't a WUSA meeting because you are quite right that only the WUSA can call that. They can't be asking the WUSA for money at the meeting - well I suppose they can ask but they can not expect an answer.
A few weeks back we were much worse off (see the questions below) so why didn't the club didn't raise the issue of more funds required back then? I think we need to ask the club;
1. We've had about an extra 600 people through the gate on the last three home games - has this 'extra' unforeseen money already been earmarked for the next tax bill? If it has, why did we rely on it? 2. If we hadn't got the higher attendances what would have happened then? And how would we have managed an even higher deficit? 3. Why did we not state a few weeks back more money was required to pay the bill on the 18th? Possibly extra fundraising could have taken place. 4. The end of season do was held at the club (unlike previous years) - were the bar takings projected funds for the tax bill? Risky if it was, extra funds if not. 5. Knowing there are insufficient funds - why have the club not been actively encouraging commercial opportunities? 6. 'and is close to having the necessary cleared funds in place to clear the balance due on 18 May 2011' - How close is close?? 7. Why is the meeting only for lenders and WUSA members? Shouldn't it be an open meeting to ALL Welling Utd fans? Unless of course there are specific questions from the club that only WUSA members and lenders can answer?
And further to question 6............................where is the money coming from to clear the balance? We cant have much money incoming now that the season is over.
Also, what happened to "the goal, sponsored by.........was scored by..............." that we could hear a few home games ago? I didn't hear it after the FOUR that went in on saturday.
AND! How much bloody money are we having to fork out in solicitors' fees!
I don't mean to critisise the club or the Hobbins', but they are all valid questions that require answers.

I suspect that the majority of lenders are members of WUSA. So, even though it's not a WUSA meeting by name, in reality it probably will be.
I don't think we can assume anything. Also lenders who are not WUSA can not be party to any discussions about how WUSA money should be spent.
In answer to Gary H's valid point above about the timing - have you not noticed that all these things happen last minute. The result is that it appeals to people's emotions - or a form of blackmail if you like. Help now or its the end of the club. There is no time for us to say we will help but we want something in return - like representation and a greater say
Unless I see some sort of efforts from those in control, I cant see why anyone would want to put money in in the first place, let alone now a second time around.
We're all thinking this, imagine what the players must be thinking when Daysy says to them "sign up again for next season".
thank god its "only" a few k and not like it was. I think the players will realise that, will be interesting to see just how much they are short and how theyve raised or pulled up the rest of the money.

I'm pretty sure it was still happening on saturday...

At the moment I dont believe that all lenders are WUSA members. I hope there are not any conflicts of interest that arise indue course. Hopefully once representation at the club is sorted out this should be covered.
Do the Lenders reps and the WUSA reps liase or are they one and the same?
Russ is a lenders rep so is Malcolm, I had reservations before the reps were appointed but have none now having heard them both talk at meetings and out of meetings,

Spot on Chelwing and as Wingnut said, ' emotional blackmail' When will the club realise that they have f****d up and cannot rely on the supporters to bail them out again. Getting a commercial manager onboard is good in theory, but let's face it, what local business would want to be associated with the club with their history of alledged mis-management? As others have said on here, what have the club done to help alleviate our financial situation? No doubt the club will try to get money from WUSA and claim that if they don't get it, the club will fold. What if any of the previous investors wanted any of their money back? Afterall, it was their money given to the club, interest free, that saved them. Where would the money come from to repay them?
I just hope that Jamie and the rest of the squad have enough to believe that we can survive another season without having to struggle with the budget.
Another pint of John Smiths - sorry, run out
