Nothing Odd about Bodkin! Sat Oct 08 2005 Matt Bodkin scored an 87th minute winner to secure Welling's place in the Fourth Round Qualifying of the FA Cup. Harrow Borough were a stern test for Adrian Pennock's Wings. Danny Kedwell had his penalty beautifully saved by Keita Karamoko in the first half. Jamie Turner had to be on top form to save a number of Harrow chances. Fortunately in the 87th minute, a Wings throw was headed across goal and fell timely to Matt Bodkin who fired the ball past Karamoko.
This is my first post on here. I joined when charlton played you in the friendly i listened to the radio service and loved it. can we listen to it again?
i think there is a saying like 'odd bodkin' or something like that (edit:well thats what my dad said but he says alot of things ). Bodkin is a good player i saw him play portsmouth for the gills in the fa cup last year i think.
one more thing can someone help me get the games going cause i get like a funny error, do i need extra software?
I am going to show my age. I remember a character (who I cannot remember) saying ODDS BODKIN in the television programme Rentaghost. If memory serves me this was to another character who was called Bodkin.
Please feel free to correct me if my memory if failing
1 The Radio, glad you enjoyed it, its on hold due to circumstances totally out of our control, the Club put up posters in the ground threatening to eject anyone giving updates or Live Commentary to Radio Wings. We Emailed the Conference who said um er ow erm um erm pass. We asked for clarification but they havent responded. So its not A Conference Decision. The Club havent responded or said anything to us directly merely told certain in the know fans who then posted on the Forum that the Club were intent on stopping the Radio. Not wishing to have a fan ejected it is on hold but can be resurrected at short notice. We will do this if and when the club can be ****ed to reply to us. Or contact us to tell us directly a) we are banned from doing Live Commentary or update shows. Perhaps the club are planning something similar or onr of their prefered supporters are? After all WOTW were the first to do live updates and video highlights, they were copied so why not the Radio. Bitter...?? Me?? Too right!
2 The Games should be fine, What specs are your pc? Have you got the latest JAVA and FLASH updates? Just search google for update Java and macromedia flash player. Install and you should be fine.
Let me know if you have any more trouble. I see you guys are playing superb, keep it up.

If the club want to eject someone with radio transmission equipment fair enough. However I believe that the radio thing was done from mobile at a ground to JGFC who then posted the updates, I stand to be corrected if this is wrong. On this basis will the club eject everyone with a mobile phone?
I feel that a service is being robbed here. I am a season ticket holder and have an annual jolly boys outing to an away game. I then spend the remainder of the season when we are aware trying to look at sky sports, looking at various sites, ie here, wie etc to find out how we are doing. By taking away what was I feel an honest attempt to try and keep the supporters updated makes life more difficult.
On a more personal note, Tom I feel you do a great job the majority of the time, you obviously have the wings at heart. I dont want to go into all the various things that have gone but I have followed most of them and it takes a decent bloke to put his hand up and say that he was wrong on occasssions so fair play to you. When I look at the timings of your postings, ie middle of the night early mornings etc you have stated you have had your problems and I for one hope that things have turned the corner. If I can offer you anything it would be to say you dont always have to react when someone throws you nuts. Maybe its time everyone drew a line in the sand and moved on, god knows you have offered an olive branch and not had much response.
From an outsiders perspective the only thing that unites everyone is a support for WUFC, its such a shame that the various camps cant see that and move towards that "goal" whatever happens.
Keep up the good work mate, I'm sure it occupies a lot of your time but certainly at the moment we would have little up to date news.
Correct the Radio was done via Mobile Phone at my expense. It was a free service to Wings fans and popular, Over 50 different listeners tuned in at one time for the matches we covered with simultaneous connections in the high 20s. Its purely spite and the Hobbins being awkward, they have taken certain fans into their arms and this was a way of discrediting and stifling another fan from providing a service. Who told the Hobbins about the Radio? One of the supporters who are close to them now?
The simple answer is to ask the Hobbins directly.
From my communication with John Moules' office i can tell you it is NOT a Conference rule or directive. No Matter what the club may say to save face. Thanks for your message. In the cold light of day it isnt hard to see what has happened. As i said it can be resumed at a moments notice, the lads we used do not want to piss of the club which is understandable. Two young teenagers who were happy to commentate LIVE.
Criticise the club and you are public enemy number one. Sorry but i say it as i see it.
The Commercial arm of the club is as useful as a chocolate fireguard and scrapping the youth and reserves was a bad move. The 20 years of decline and poor Cup performances also were fair in my opinion. If they dont like criticism then its simple RECTIFY the problems. (Which this season they seem to as the Budget has not restricted the Manager)
The factions are clear. We have.
1 Those who dont give a toss and post on here as they Support Welling
2 Those who support the breakaway/behind the goal fans who boycott POSTING on here
3 Those who are too scared to post because people will send them to Coventry
4 "Anonymous" stirrers keen on keeping the divide open to inflate their ego and "standing" with the Club.
It all started with abuse on the WOTW forum by anons, agendas took over. We are still here, we support Welling, we will not lick backsides or be two faced.
Those that wish to post feel free those that do not then no problems. To the Hobbins, GROW UP! You are stopping YOUR Customers receiving a service which has only brought positive praise, it cost YOU or them NOTHING.
Thats all i have to say on the matter, BKK Thank You, i have tried and will continue to do so. I have had many emails and PMs saying people can see the whole picture, if i was paranoid i would have jacked it in long ago. Forum Membership grows, Forum views increase and the Rows and aggro have subsided since we have gone registration only.
Come on you Wings

Stick with it buddy you are doing a furcking great job for your love of the Wings ,I know what its like to have the shoulders to take all this ****e for a belief. Its a bit like when a couple of us guys stood by our principles, morals and history when our once beloved Langney Sports was swipped from under our noses by a handfull of people. In the end,as you know, we were driven from the club not by those who wanted us to leave but driven by our own disgust for what the club was becoming .
Now looking back I can say it was the best thing myself and Grant ever did ,but at the time it was scary some days.
what has happened to the loyal behind the goal gang ? seems like they have been driven apart in to groups of militia, what the hell are they doing?? Surely they have the brains to realise that they have to be United in the cause, not petty infighting. and If they cannot then leave the club. I always saw Russ an an intelligent guy ,easy to talk to and dedicated.Like yourself and plenty of the other guys. I would be very surpised if Moo would do anything thats not in the interests of WUFC , Matt ..what do you make of all this ****e mate ?
at the end of the day the club (hobbins) can't appreciate the time and effort put in by Jgfc, okay there have been a few **** ups in the past but why they move on and forget?
how many clubs below the conference have their own radio shows? not many i guess.
so why can't they appreciate what Jgfc's doing and let the bloke get on with it, he's showing love for his club and the club are denying him to love the club, where's the sense in that?
