The naming of Friday was odd as interested teams could make their move at any time until 31st August and if the bid was good enough I would not expect the club to block opportunities for the player.
Clubs may even check the players out in the first two or three league games if they are prepared to risk someone else coming in and gazumping them.

Does the 31/8 cut off only apply to Blue square Premiership and above ?? Please enlight
Believe " the friday cut out" is an internal instruction - so Jamie does not have to worry with regards replacements
I was under the assumption that Friday was the deadline for people going on trial. Therefore from now on no players will be going out on trial or left out of put team in fear of injury (jack Parkinson in both the gills game and margate game), however clubs can still offer for our players and deals can still be done. May have it wrong that was how I read it though?

I am delighted that they are staying but I don't think the article goes as far as to say that they made the decision to stay.
I think Pires staying gives Jamie a problem. I think we look at our best with Pugh and Cumbers up front. As Dogkilla has said, Jamie seems to be building his team around finding a place for Pires and that tends to be up front with Cumbers pushed out wide. To be honest I don't think we look as dangerous with him up front. I would have have Faz on one wing with One Joe Healy on the other wing, and that doesn't leave a place for Pires. What do others feel?
I dont think we are at our best 4 3 3 and i think Pires can play left side midfield if he can get his consistency up. Healy is class left midfield and great passer. Probably better suited having Healy in side if Stella is going to bomb on.
Leave it down to Jamie, he knows what he is doing. Hes got a few games left to try a few things and he aint done a bad job. Pires and Healy both good players and offer different things. Healy probably more consistent but Loick did become more consistent second half of the season and some of his passing in midfield was superb. Remember they are all young and developing.

Have to say i think Pires looks best up front as he is a handful but can get a bit lost on the wing. The problem is with 4-3-3 Faz has to hang back a bit which negates his chances of getting crosses in, which is perhaps his strong point. I thought we looked best at 4-4-2 last year. Nice problems to have though!
