I thought the poor challenge was clumsy at best, I thought the VCD forward was over the ball and clipped Sambrook across the ankle. I think the ref should have told the VDC forward to stop being a **** and play football. he tried to impress by putting himself about but only showed he has no class.

there's just no need for bad challenges in pre-season - what a c**t and I hope he injures himself in teh near future when he is trying to do the same to others

Although the consensus of opinion was that the long grass was too blame, the challenge was not great. The referee spent a long time talking to the chubby assailant while the injury was being treated, whether it was a friendly chat or suggesting he should calm down, who knows? At the time I thought that it would have been met with a yellow card in a league game and as he continued to put himself about I thought a classier manager might have replaced him. The game was a friendly!!

I agree with what Russ said yesterday, in that games like that are very dangerous.

The pitch at Thamesmead was poor, yesterday the grass was too long, and who knows what we can expect at Erith tomorrow. They have already had one pre-season cancelled due to the state of their pitch.

County league tends to mean a combination of agricultural pitches and agricultural players - never a good mix - and we're playing three of them in five days. As has already been mentioned, Erith Town have a less then perfect pitch and rumours yesterday were that Beckenham's game on Thursday was abandoned because of a fight. Why take the risk? Welling United needs to put Welling United first and cut out all these favours to mates and journalists.

In order to make stupid comments like this you have to attend the match and view the incident live. Then you can cast  judgement on a player instead of going on heresay like you have done. Think before you type keyboard warrior.

I agree with people that these Kent League friendlies are more trouble than they are worth. We appreciate the likes of Charlton and Gillingham supporting their local neighbours such as ourselves and we should try to do the same for local clubs at a lower level to ourselves. At least when we play these higher ranked teams we play on a decent surface and attempt to give them a proper game of football.

However some of the surfaces produced and some of the industrial tackling I have seen in the last two "friendlies" makes it very risky. I think we don't play our tenants anymore pre season is down to some of the challenges dished out in previous years.

As Danson says we need to look after number one and if that means upsetting a few people then tough. Let us hope/pray we don't suffer any serious injuries at Erith Town and Beckenham this week.........
