Welling United Academy 0-2 Cambridge United Academy. at The Club Well Hall

The top of the league Wings go down to a sucker punch from 2nd placed Cambridge.

Jamie Day who is coach/asst manager at Cambridge United Academy got one over on the Wings as the U's nicked the game when they scored against the run of play in the second half after the wings started the second half well after a fairly even first half ended goaless. The wings then lost their way and sloppy defending from a set piece gifted Cambridge a 2-0 lead. Both teams were reduced to ten men late after ugly scenes of bravado saw some agressive words and pushing and shoving as a good game was spoiled by poor discipline.

Very young wings team probably a bit behind last years second years but they have a year to develop and at times we actually played some nice stuff, if we could have got the lead when on top i dont think Cambridge could have come back, its all a learning curve.

Got to say the surface at the club is excellent and the best 3g pitch ive seen games played on. Our man of the match probably Nathan Palmer but the keeper did ok aswell despite one error he made a few decent stops.
