Our next FA Trophy opponents have just signed James Smith. Don't know whether or not he played in 5-0 hammering at Margate last night.

Top player in his time at PVR. Important player in settling the side down in the Parker era I seem to recall.

Chased the pound note and has ended up playing at a lower level than he should be.

and lost his hair horrendously quickly. Was a stand out player for us to start with ... capable of a lot more than he has actually turned out to achieve.

A good bloke and was a top player for us in a poor side.

Better than East Thurrock United

I seem to recall he went to Ebbsfeet or was it Grays in the conference national - not sure how that makes him money grabbing - wishing to do well in his career. Will we say the same about Jack Parkinson or Andy Pugh if they move up the leagues?

He went to Grays when they were throwing the money about - FACT

He was England C captain and left Ebbsfleet to join King at Farnborough two levels down from where he was playing - I wonder why he did that......

Farnborough from Ebbsfleet was why he was a money grabber in some peoples opinion. I really think he could have been a great player had he applied himself and stayed at a club at the best level he could for a period of time.

Liam Daish took him to Ebbsfleet or Gravesend as it was then. I didn't see this as money grabbing as it was a step up. The Farnborough thing is certainly different.

I stand corrected on the Grays link.

However he has never fulfilled the potential he showed at PVR and signing for East Thurrock indicates that.

I am sure he is not the only footballer to chase the pound note either but maybe not quite so obviously as he did.

Agree he hasn't met the potential he showed with us.

He can't be a young man now I would think. Reaching the end of his career?

Think Adie Pennock inherited him. Seem to remember he went back to Cambridge United only to return and then upset Adie by going with Liam when he got Gravesend job. Had a fair spell there, including winning the FA Trophy.
The Farnborough move probably had something of the Steve King factor about it. Surprised he is at a club struggling in the Ryman Premier as he was a decent player and would guess he is only about 27.
