Angels should have scored but mistimed a three yard volley

The ref had quite a good game for Tonbridge.

A solid point against a determined Tonbridge. A game we could have lost so happy with the point.

Thought we could have lost that but defensively we dug in, we lose a lot going forward with no stella, but Jordan did well defensively but we know he can slot in there and do a good job. The ref let their 4 kick us off the park and he could have been booked many times. Interviews with Jamie Day and Jack Parkinson up later, filming position not great so may just wait for Angels own highlights. The mini gantry has a floodlight slap bang in in the middle of the goal !! so chose wrongly to film pitch side, will have a look at the footage later and decide. Will upload pughies goal hopefully later whatever happens.

Well done lads battling performance when not as fluent as we can be and keeps the unbeaten run going. Lets get to East Thurrock and get behind the boys in a massive game next week.

From Silent Madge on the Tonbridge forum, clearly at a different game:-

No big target man for most of the game meant we had to play out of defence instead of hit it long, which meant we had more possession and less of the ball coming straight back at us from hoofed clearances. A bit laboured at times but it made it harder for Welling to use their height. Disappointed at how dirty Welling were - a less measured ref would have had the red card out..

Cant believe he thought we were dirty their number 4 must have committed 6 fouls worthy of a yellow, very limited player who just fouls. The free kicks at the end around our box looked soft to me. Poor ref and i understand he was a late replacement. Danson knew the score and said pre kick off he thought Ben Knight had previous with us and was poor.

He can't have been that late a replacement. He's listed as ref in the programme - just above the Bishop's Stortford team...

All we want is a bit of consistency but to book Jordan for handball when it was slammed at him from five yards and then not book their lump for deliberate handball having signalled such was ridiculous.

They weren't quite horses, they were in honour of the ref who was absolute pony. Great turnout from Welling fans today and to be honest we never played like we can. Missed jack and loui. Tonbridge not a bad side and we could have lost it with the last few crazy free kicks the ref awarded - even arthur c Clarke would have had trouble explaining those.

Great game today and a well earned point. Lee Clarke was emense today back to form of last season today. Felt we lacked width mainly due to the missing full backs. This lack of width meant Pughy tended to drift wide a lot which didn't help him out much. Loick didn't have his best game and Cumbers' form is concerning me now. No end product from him pretty much all season so far. Sure he will turn it around as his work rate is second to none.

Well done boys ground out the point today against a strong well organised team.

Luis Cumbers work rate and assists make him a great asset.

Yes he has struggled for goals but then Pughie had a lean patch at the back end of last season and couldnt score for quite a few games. Think for his efforts I am comfortablewith the 4-3-3 we play

Agreed. The official team sheet sheet had a referee crossed out and replaced but it was probably just an error being rectified.

I had not read this when I wrote my version of events. Even though we were in different parts of the ground, the number 4's(in)ability was clear to both of us. I thought his tackle on Joe Healy was far worse than Luis Cumbers' foul on 3 for which he was cautioned. Before anyone says number 3's behaviour ensured the yellow card, I think Knight was going to book him anyway.

Then Andy Sambrook fouled 4, and 4 had to be held  back from retaliating.

3's behaviour showed how bad habits have cascaded down from the Premiership to Non League football. 4 was just a disgrace and was lucky that Knight's inconsistency allowed him to stay on the field for 90 minutes.

Mark i think we only got some decisions because the offence was right by the camera, i truly had that feeling during the game when a foul was committed. I also go back to eastleigh away, they commit two bad fouls and i mean bad... nothing healy gets done for pulling out of a challenge and making no contact Then yesterday Olarunda goes in crunching about 5 or 6 times taking man not player and eventually gets one caution.

It doesnt make sense, yep ok the ref can miss a challenge, but to let it happen all the time and then to clamp down on us for far less  and for first offenses by our players makes you think is the ref crap or lacking integrity, it most definitely gives a huge advantage to the other team, sometimes you think with refs is that the plan.

Fortunately the times you think they are not being fair arent very often but refs like Knight are either crap or hate welling. Id love to see refs interviewed after games i might even suggest it to the conference in a bid to support the RESPECT campaign, you never know the fans and players might get some respect from refs....

i also note a manager calling the ref a ****ing melt is apparantly not a yellow/warning or sending to the stand, yet they dish out yellows for dissent to players when they give a shiit decision.

Respect.... yeah, nice one.

I liked Tonbridge's ground - covered terraces at both ends - heaven. Travelled back with a Tranmere supporter who came along as they didn't have a game. Lives in Charlton which is some dedication week in week out. Was impressed by the atmosphere and the match but wondered what happened to the Welling fans at half-time. One day all football clubs will change ends.....

Whilst I accept the ref was inconsistent on Saturday I felt that the abuse, and in particular the person who shouted at him as he left the pitch "you're a f...ing disgrace"was unfair and did not paint a good picture of the excellent away support we take to most fixtures.

If Pugh goes to Hartlepool Im a Dutchman. Of all the league clubs in the land why move to the one pretty much furthest away ??
