We've not performed to the levels we expect. We've not defended as well as we can and if we keep giving stupid free kicks away and defend like we did today, it don't matter who you play, you're going to concede goals. We still had enough chances to put the game to bed but at the same time we can't keep conceding and we're saying the same things two months down the line and we need to put it to bed.
At the minute I don't know who to play centre half, I've just said it to them in there [dressing room]. To be honest no one has made that position their own. We're chopping and changing because we are conceding so many goals. People need to start taking some responsibility. We're not panicking, we are second in the league and we've got a good squad of players but at the same time if people keep making the same mistakes, we either go and get someone else or they start performing and stop making mistakes.
I think we panicked in the second half. It's difficult I said to [the players] in there, you come to places like this and you've got to grind out results. And as much as we want to play football, at this time of the year it is about knuckling down and grinding a result out and winning your battles and we didn't win enough battles today.
We've to respond as a bunch of players and management staff we've got to go to Basingstoke and put in a performance. Whether its a point or three points, we need to get something from that game on Tuesday and obviously get something from Saturday's game as well. I'm looking for a reaction now after today's performance and today's result. And like I said if we don't get anything from down there we might have to start looking at changing personnel.
I wish Jamie would say what he thinks and not 'beat about the bush'. Reading between the lines and trying my best to desipher what he is saying, I get the feeling that he is not totally happy with our defence.
he keeps setting a target of promotion, i like that. we know we havent got the resources to be a favourite to go up but he still sets a high target, rather aim at the moon than the gutter.
if we go up great if we give it everything and come up short then at least we gave it everything. we are certainly good enough, i think jamie thinks they are good enough so hes given them the chance to get going again. i think they will respond, its a kick up the backside and we are still in a fabulous position and unquestionably one of the better teams, they just need to concentrate, stand up and believe in themselves.
