Absolutely. as last season you had a deal for two matches cut price admission, this season its the chance for outsiders to come and sample cheaper football.
My concern is that in a deal like this AGAIN.... you have offer the discount for the next game... to maximise the impact and chance of keeping them, offering the discount on a game months in the future lessens the success of the offer greatly. Yes its Dover but i dont think they have many Millwall season ticket holders and they will bring 80-100 maximum, plus the people getting the voucher come back to a game with a better atmosphere than the Staines game.
Also, i think offering family offers rather than season ticket ones would be more productive, Weve done the season ticket one before, it didnt really have an effect. Family for £15 or £20 and same again for one more (the next game) could bring in new supporters. Would also like to see a secondary school a week given 200 free tickets. Thats how you bring the kids in and the future supporters.
Community club, you have to hit the community and keep hitting them with offers and news and info ( homes and businesses within a couple of miles radius), look at Lewes. its the only way and when we finally reach out to the community. gates WILL rise.
We need to get the local families and kids and local businesses involved to grow the support base and bring in money, nicking 2 season ticket holders from Millwall isnt going to boost crowds.

A good move by the club to boost attendances now, and potentially in future games, but should I be asked to pay £12 when someone who has potentially never been to Welling in their life, and is a Charlton/Millwall/West Ham fan, can get in for £7 ??
Had a chat with Paul at Danson and before... and said that we have to hit the community. Am fully aware hes working his nuts off getting money in and he cant do everything. Hes doing a top job.
I had thought that when we went community direction. there would be meetings and new areas looked at. Maybe that will happen soon?? We dont seem to have changed at all in the way we operate? We need to have a community blueprint and ethos if we are a CIC club?. With a vision and roadmap of the short term and long term aims?
Have always said as a club we have to absolutely batter the local community with news and info, almost become a nuisance. These people are on our doorstep they will bring more money in and provide the supporters of the future. We still do zero locally to bring in new fans, community isnt just about having 6 year olds coached and visiting a school now and again via Jim Dean. Its about getting the locals hooked to spend their wonga with us and come and support the team?
This is a good idea as is help the heros etc, but you have to get the message out. Putting it on forums and website is only preaching to people who already come to Welling. Which is why the voucher thing last year didnt really have an impact in the short or long term. We will only get the crowds up when we flood the community imho, then we have to hook them.
For anyone thinking it costs big money to flyer 5000 homes...
its £75 for 5000 A5 double sided colour leaflets and it looks professional if the flyers are designed well. You need 6 people to come to get your cost back and youve advertised to 5000 homes near the ground.
If you are a season ticket holder elsewhere you will obviously only come to Welling when your main team aren't at home ... so no matter what we offer, their support of us will be limited to a few games and we'll always be their second team.
We need to be getting people to come to watch Welling as their first preference, show them a good game, and they'll be back every week not just occasionally.
Kevin, Your wrong there. Im an Aston Villa season ticket holder, and have been for the last couple of years and yet ive still attended a large amount of the Welling games in that time....
Yes but the average 'local' won't have a season ticket for a club hundreds of miles away, more likely Charlton, millwall or west ham. We need to attract new, regular supporters and that will generally be youngsters and possibly with a dad. My grandad took me to my first welling game in 1988 v Sutton and I've been a welling fan ever since, that's what we should be looking for.
It's a generalisation sure, but the point remains ... we need people to come to us as their first time preferably, although "second teamers" shouldn't be discouraged of course. As The Trooper says, we need new, regular supporters, more local kids coming to the games and getting hooked like I did, so they support the club for years and years to come ... and not just the odd pensioner that will pop along for a fiver when Charlton aren't playing.
Hit 5000-10000 local houses with a flyer once a month for 3 months up to christmas with news, info and offers (Colour glossy jobby not coloured sugar paper etc)
Offer in each flyer (Money off / BOGOF on entry/ free programme / 10% off club shop/ Family for £20 ) to get them to come to a game, name and address and number and email slip on each flyer which needs to be filled in to validate offer.
Without being vulgar, you need to work on the basis that to addict someone you have to feed them then they come back and pay the going rate. A loss leader or two in the local community will pay dividends and get us out there too.
We need to have a community day in April, with a facepainter, the speedshot, clowns (No i dont mean Dartford FC) and someone from Towie or similar (Hello Pure nightclub....) Charity game before a league game at 12.00 and we need to have blanket flyered the locals and got it in the press and have it advertised since xmas. A 3500 crowd for a bog standard league game and youve reached the community.
Sutton do a community day on a small scale but still get a much bigger crowd in. We could also call Lewes and tap into their experiences.
We've had a good pre season, have a great sponsor, sold thousands in shares, and have sold two players. If we cant spend less than a grand on promoting us and smashing the local community which we have never ever done, i would be lost for words.

Admirable stuff Tom which, I assume, you have already discussed with Paul...? This idea for the Staines and H and Y game is good but needs promoting. Paul has done a sterling job on the commercial side in the few months he has been involved so hats off to him and WUSA, Pat and Sy etc...etc...continue to give their best efforts on behalf of the club/supporters.
However, if left to the club, I think we know what will (or rather won't) happen and the last part of the last paragraph is nearer the truth....
Delivering 5000 leaflets properly, co-ordinated so they dont all go to the same houses, via volunteers just doing the patch where they live, will take a lot of free time for the most helpful and eager of volunteers.

Couldn't have put it better myself. It's time for the club to come into the 21st century and have the balls to be a CIC club. It might well cost a few quid to get there, but if the club shouts out loud that we are offering a discount for people but do not advertise it correctly, what is the point? Credit where it's due, the club are offering a good deal, but let the community know!!!!
Could get more use out of the social media. We have nearly 2k followers on twitter, quadruple the amount that attend home games. It's main purpose currently seems to be tweeting the scores, which is great, but there is a lot more than could be achieved with it. I mean this deal hasn't been posted on there!
I try to follow all. But not everyone is tech-wise. The official account has 1820 followers compared to 87 following the commercial twitter. That's a big reach being missed out on. The more accounts you make, the harder it can be to reach the maximum amount of people.
