His first pass.... people were moaning then he hit a decent pass and had the balls to hit it. Hes a wide man/winger. Hes there to take on players, turn them around and push teams back, have shots and hit crosses, not ponce about dinking balls around in midfield IMHO. Healy and the Gaffer are there to ping it about then Clarkie and Jake.
His first pass was poor, the crowd starting moaning at him ffs , his second pass was decent despite the stick he had just had. He had only been on the pitch seconds. Wind him up, point him at the goal and let him scare the **** out of defenders, i consider him passing the ball around, one of the least important things in a 4-3-3. Just run and run and run and ping balls at goal and in the box imho and win set pieces.
To expect him to be Glenn Hoddle is a bit much in a 4-3-3. If hes playing in a 4-4-2 in midfield of course he has passing and ball retention duties but that wasnt the case today surely?

Aitch did ok to be fair he just came on when people were moaning. Put it behind us and have a right go on Tuesday at getting through.
Steve, the gaffer has said JT is here to fight for the shirt with Motty and JT will play (in some of) the cup games to give Motty a break. Lots of teams play their other keeper where they can. JT is a decent keeper and since hes been back playing he hasnt done a fat lot wrong.

.. you're sharp , hold the ball well and are pretty much unmarkable , however might I suggest that when you come on the pitch that you recognise there are other people on the pitch (other than the opposition) who .. I dunno .. you might (and this may be controversial) pass the ball to?
I just did not get it at all , Theo made himself open so many times yet it was totally ignored .. also , step-overs in our own half .. what the hell is that all about?
Only opening up for debate JGFC , what you've said are fair points , but all I can see from "the moaning crowd" position has been quite familiar .. like I said at the top , he is sharp , holds the ball well and pretty much unmarkable , but Theo was clear , nothing was blocking a pass .. its not the first time I've seen him hold the ball for longer than necessary , he.is.quality there is no doubt

With all due respect, why not single out one player - why not talk about the way that we approached the game? Did we suspect that Thurrock were an easy target because of their lower position? They weren't - they played to win and we didn't. Let's break it down a little. Did the full backs overlap and attack the defense? Did Obo get shouted at loads of times, the same against Dover and still didn't listen, did Kinch give the ball away loads, etc etc. IMHO, the game plan was wrong. We treated the oppo with too much respect.
Turner was to blame for their goal - why wasn't Motty in goal from the start? The ref was crap today and deserves to be officiating in the lower leagues, but we need consistency. Roll on the replay.
Its just frustration on my part .. Moderator please delete my post , I resorted to "3 pints" wisdom and in retrospect Baker was probably one of our better players on a very frustrating day

No your top comment is true, yes the team had a bad day and i think from their faces in the bar after they knew it. But if you want to start a game then why not come on and show yourself instead of just adding to what was already going on. If you want to be a hero it can be the pass to make it that counts to!
Selection was a puzzle for me too. Three cup ties now and JT starts all three?? Now I know he is decent cover on the bench but is there some reason we have to play him in cup games?? Mott made a fantastic save second half against Dover to keep it at 0-1 yet he is "dropped" to the bench for this game. I am very interested to see who starts between the sticks tomorrow night.
None of the subs made any impact on Saturday but, in their defence, they were coming into a poor game and a poor team performance. My main criticism of Baker is that he tries far too many "Hollywood" passes when there are simpler passes available. If he could hit those sort of passes successfully all day long then he wouldn't be playing for us! Theo got the nod against Dorch and Dover and, for me, didn't take the opportunity. He has pace to burn but seems reluctant to take on the full back especially as, in both games, they had been booked and therefore couldn't really touch him. Like most I think he has bags of potential and could be a real weapon for us, but he needs to have a bit more belief in himsrlf and be prepared to attack more rather than passing the buck.

I can't see how Jamie can be blamed - their man was totally unmarked 3 yards out and put it in the corner. It wasn't the only time we failed to pick up players - their disallowed goal was another example - I think there were two unmarked on that occasion.

I completely agree with Chelwing - I really don't see what Turner could have done differently. Perhaps if we'd cleared the ball when we had the chance, stopped the cross being put in, or had someone challenge for the header we would have prevented the goal.

God yes.....JT had NO CHANCE with that goal....simply poor marking (yet again) at the back post....there were also numerous occaisions when they had one or 2 spare men at the back post and if only they could find them (thank god they didnt) then we would have been knackered

I agree that JT is a decent keeper and that our defence on the day was woeful, but my point was that JT appeared to be rooted on the spot on a few occasions in the first half and didn't come out to meet the crosses.
