There was a productive meeting yesterday with the members of WUSA at PVR, some points were raised by the members and will be raised with the club by the elected committee and chairman, there were some commercial updates and community input which could be the start of something really exciting and positive.

If you give a toss about Welling United and you want your say to be heard and hear how the the Supporters are trying to better things... Then see Ken and the guys outside the club shop on a match day and join up, if you havent renewed but plan to, then make sure you do.

Some good guests at the meeting yesterday and probably was the best WUSA meeting so far with promising things on many fronts.

Once youve joined if you PM bruno he will make sure you get access to the WUSA members forum section on here.

Point taken re: sharing information and everyone in the world getting to know.

But, every Welling supporter should be entitled to a voice. I don't want to communicate with the club, but it would be nice for the club to communicate with me, given I pay 100s if not 1000s into it annually. I shouldn't then need to give up more money and my free time, of which is scarce, to know what is going on.

Unfortunately, I had to send apologies for absence as I was out last night, but Ken will send out the minutes to the members and from what I've read above, it will make interesting reading.

Ok, and non-WUSA members ?? Welling fans interested in what was discussed ??

Before someone says "why dont you join the WUSA" ... non-members don't have input obviously, but all Welling fans, WUSA members or otherwise, should be given the courtesy of knowing what's potentially going on with "their" club I would have thought ??

Kev, We cannot share the information in the public domain, this is due to sensitivity of the subjects discussed but I still don't understand why you don't join. The reason a supporters club was put in place was to give YOU and other supporters to use this as a mouth piece to communicate with the club to improve our club and it's environment. You attended WSU meetings in the past so why not join this one? Matt

I too put 100's if not 1000's over every year, my free is scarce 2 kids, job and all that. The reason this works is that 100 voices is more powerful than 1. £15 for a year peanuts my friend, that's probably drop in the ocean to a powerful property mogul like you. Just for your knowledge we meet one a month, you even have to attend all the meetings or even any if you didn't want too. We have someone on the board to get your point of view across, we have never had this before

It's great we have someone on the board, don't get me wrong. Even if it is you Mattt but all the same, my point is, every Welling fan, casual or hardcore, should be entitled to know what is going on without having to pay for the information.

It wasn't so long ago that there was a real risk there would be no club. We get 500-600 every week. I think it's a little harsh to the "casual" supporter that doesn't go as often as you or I that they are having information withheld from them effectively.

Members only to have an input fair enough. Everyone should be entitled to read the minutes.

After Saturday I couldn't be bothered to attend the WUSA meeting, having fully intended to go. I'm sure I'll get over it though.

Why anyone join if they will be told what is going on regradless. WUSA is not the club - if you want to know what is going on at the club you need to ask the Hobbins. If you want to know what the Supporters Association is up to then join it. Why do people expect to be able to have a free ride. At my work I am not a member of the Union so I do not expect to be kept informed about what goes on in Union meetings - if I want to know I need to join.

I happily ask the Hobbins about issues at the club regularly, and will continue to do so. I have never had a problem with Barrie or Piggy discussing things opening, other than the sensitive tax/ownership issues recently. I also chat to Daisy's Dad in the Guy Earl of Warwick fairly often and he is surprisingly open as well.

I do not expect a free ride, nor do I expect to be subtly mocked. The WUSA does a lot of good work, and many people give up their free time. Well done. Without people like that we would have no club. My point is not that I expect input, nor to give an opinion or have a voice without membership, my point is that as a long-standing supporter, and every other non-WUSA member, I/we shouldn't be effectively "shut out". Who knows what skills, money, etc non-WUSA members could bring to the table.

You are not a member of the Union at your work you say, but if the Union were discussing strike action and it kicked in, I am sure the first you knew of it wouldn't be when you turned up for work to find no-one else there.

Communication is key.

That is what you were suggesting in your original messages. WUSA is only one clog in the wheel. I am sure that if other people had skills/money that they could approach the club directly. People already do.

You orginally talked about the money you put in supporting the club and how they should communicate with you. You are right, but it is not for WUSA to fill this void which you also seem to suggest. Maybe I have got you wrong but that seemed to be what you were saying from your messages.

My original post was asking if non-WUSA members can get an idea of what was discussed. That remains my hope. Hey, it might even encourage people to join, even me !

Unless something top secret was discussed I'm sure these minutes could be readable by non-WUSA members.

Its a shout for people to rejoin or join the WUSA as people are trying to improve things and new projects and initiatives are being discussed. More numbers will make the WUSA stronger and bring more ideas in.

I can draw you diagrams if you like to describe the purpose of the thread?

If you can point out where i said i cant tell you anything, i would be much obliged. Ta.

If you dont care about the WUSA or supporters trying to improve things, no need to comment on a thread that doesnt interest you or pop at an association trying to make a difference..

Hang on a minute, why did a non WUSA member find out about this web site before me?

I spend millions of pounds following the Wing's up and down PVR so I expect to be made aware before those who only spend thousands.

LOL.

I agree the WUSA concept and the work and projects they have achieved are a good example of what can be done.

Having attended the last WUSA AGM I am not sure however that the club are in the same space or pulling in the same direction. The WUSA still has my support but unless I see valid evidence that the club has moved in its stance I wont be re joining in the imminent future.

I wont go into details or rationale here but if you refer to the minutes of the meeting I think there are a number of matters that outline the above.

Sorry for the slight delay, I don't want to give the old excuse that I have been busy with other meetings but........ I was on my way to print the minutes off when they flew out the window of my car and got sqashed by a steamroller then ripped apart by a t rex....honest

I have, in posts above, praised the work of those giving up free time and money for the club and the other fans. I have also said the same to Mr Mein many times. Their efforts are not unappreciated. Without them there would be no club (again, as mentioned by me above). No-one is aiming to slag them off. Anyone that takes my posts that way is a fool.

I refer, one last time, to my original request, which I still fail to understand being such a problem ... Can none WUSA members perhaps get more specific information on what was discussed ?? I didn't ask for full minutes originally, someone else raised that, just a few bullet points would be nice. That is all I ever wanted. From my own personal curiosity, and from the possibility I might want to join the WUSA one day soon. Given the lack of evidence that its going to benefit me or the club, and the drama of this whole thread, I think I will steer clear. What a sorry state of affairs.

I'm as big a critic of the lack of communication between the association and its members as anybody else as anyone who was at Saturday's meeting will be able to confirm, however, name and dob's post is misleading.  Last year's meetings were minuted and copies sent to paid up members and though it would be very nice to have received minutes from Saturday's meeting by now when recollections are clear to expect to have done so is unrealistic.

As far as the circulation of minutes to non members goes I firmly support the view that minutes of an association are for members of that association.  I'm sure that many, if not all, of us visit and spend money at places where an association exists but not being members we are not privy to minutes of its meetings.

The outcomes of decisions taken at meetings are visible to all and they surely provide enough information for non members to determine if you want to be part of the association or not. Not an exhaustive list but examples are the successful negotiation of a place on the board, the organisation, contribution to and the management of the Boost the Budget Scheme, the Beer Festival, attendance at the Danson Festival, the perimeter boarding around the pitch, the end of season presentation night, band nights and other events at the Clubhouse, and the running of the Club Shop.

 Hang on a minute.

You said earlier in this very thread that your own free time is scarce yet you expect people to attend meetings (one for members on Saturday and another last night for the committee) and produce minutes for you to peruse at the drop of a hat. Like yourself I am sure a lot of Welling supporters have precious little free time so please cut a bit of slack to those who devote some of it to their club and trying to make it better for all concerned.

As has been said before WUSA is now getting some input at board level and a larger membership can only increase the standing withing the club.

With regards to the minutes from Saturday's meeting, I agree that minutes need to be sent out as soon as possible. However, seeing as that the meeting finished after 7pm Saturday, and that I along with the rest of the committee were in another WUSA meeting until 10pm last night, it may be a few days before the minutes are edited/sent round.

With regards to non-members being allowed to see the minutes, if that was the case then why would anyone pay to join WUSA? I certainly wouldn't.

As Wingnut stated, WUSA now has a place on the club's board and the larger our membership, the louder our voice will be.

WUSA Meeting Minutes

1. Apologies for absence
All committee members and WUSA members made their apologies for not being able to attend the WUSA meeting held on Saturday 20th October 2012.

2. Health & Safety
Due to WUSA not having a health and safety policy there was nothing to report.

3. It was thought about but not asked about the toilet seats. What shade of white should they be? A choice between 'pure brilliant white or pure bright white was not discussed.

4. Another point that wasn't raised was about the window cleaning. Should the windows in the Wing's Bar be washed as regularly as the Executive Lounge ones?

5. An issue that would have raised a lot of discussion, but wasn't, was the issue of lightbulb supplier. Even though another supplier was found selling the exact same ones at the same price, it was decided that a working group be formed to assist in obtaining more facts and get an answer for the next meeting.

6. Another point that wasn't raised or seconded was knowing what CIC meant for the club and it's future. As there was no one at the meeting it was unanimously agreed that that further information was needed to find out what the three letters stood for.

Financial
At this point, representatives of the club did not enter and ask if their proposal of 'twinning' Welling United with Barcelona or Roma had been given the green light. This would mean many trips over to Spain and Italy funded by the WUSA budget until a decision could be made.

AOB
Communication to WUSA and non WUSA members was not discussed.

Date of next meeting
Email to be sent out to all without email accounts.

I'm sure that people don't join the WUSA just for the honour of being able to read some minutes.

Irrespective of membership volume, there is one voice on the board. It would be easy to out vote that one voice if required if the WUSA were to want to do anything the club were against.

In fact, "if that were the case then why would anyone pay to join the WUSA", were to be taken literally then it only confirms my current stance that it serves little benefit.
