Now before it gets out of hand, I think Blyth will have to contribute to travel/accomodation of the Wings staff if it means an over nighter. I think Welling may claim that the hours on the coach after the game could mean the players getting back very late and some (Clarkey and Gleds plus others would be at work the next day), Asking for a 2 hour bringing forward of the game (If we do at all!) ,surely isnt unreasonable and doesnt need a large handfull of their fans whingeing and moaning. Fact is we are in the top 3 or 4 in the league above them and i see they say there will be some geordie tackles flying!! Have they not seen the size of our players?? and do they not know we put it about a bit too? We are the better team and will win after a professional performance. We will enjoy any hospitality afforded to us but dont need all the up yours Welling and watch out for the tackles posts coming from oop north. Our lot will spend a lot of money in their bar, sing very loudly and would welcome the oppo back down if it went to a replay.
Aggro before the game takes place will only put more steel in our better squad of players than theirs and mean we dont let the lower league team cause an upset. Keep it real guys. It should be a cracker, make sure it is played in the right spirit on and off the park because if Blyth put some tasty tackles in you can be sure they will come back with interest from Welling.
Welling will far from mind a physical game. Im sure Welling will have Blyth watched a couple of times by their scout Ash. I cant see Welling making a mistake so keep on Winding them up and slagging the Wings manager if you like. Roll on the 14th January
Come on you Wings!!

I think people are getting carried away. I have taken my seven year old (first game at 26 days old) and four year old to Blyth on a regular basis. The club is always friendly and welcoming.
Yes, we will probably be underdogs but the wind off the north sea and the colder climate may cancel out any away advantage.
That certainly eases my mind a bit. As a single dad to 2 lads i was thinking what a nice treat this would be for them. Then i saw the venom and general attitude of the Blyth supporters on the message board and thought maybe not. I am all for banter and even at the stadium, partisan support but being arsey and unwelcoming generally is a sign that things may not be so comfortable for visitors on the day. It would be a hell of a lon way to go to encounter unfriendly nuisances of home fans, who certainly have not shown themselves in a good light Going straight on the aggressive. Hopefully this will die down and a few more Wings fans will travel to the North East come January 14th.
If that counts as bile this forum must lead a very sheltered life!
I think a lot of the anger seems to come from some of the comments regarding the kick-off. I don't know where that's come from but I can't see anything changing- we've had Maidenhead up here one Saturday a couple of years back. We lost a lot of money when Aldershot travelled and the heavens opened- the resulting postponement cost a fortune. It's the nature of the draw and the game. I think we'll be very cautious, if the forecast is adverse, chances are we will try to sort things out before it gets to the travelling stage.
I am particularly keen for the game to remain untouched as I have been booked to work part of the morning in the picturesque village of Middlesbrough and I will probably not get back to the environs of South Northumberland until two.
I'm not sure what this talk of aggro is- it's a non-league ground not Millwall v Cardiff.
Blyth has a large social club alongside the ground (proper social club too- all the drinks are wierd prices like £1.17) where you'll be sure to find a well-priced beverage before or after the match.
For those of you taking the opportunity to make a weekend of it- get yourself into Newcastle- Whitley Bay is alright if you like obnoxious stag/hen party hoardes but I prefer heading into town (ie Newcastle). Don't go on a night out in Blyth. People may speak of a north/south divide but the UK is united in the danger of 'medium-sized-town' nights out.
In Newcastle if you like cheapness (drinks and women) head for the Bigg Market. It does however, smell of piss and vomit. No, really.
My tip is to head to the central station area where classier establishments such as The Head of Steam, Revolution, The Apartment and Centurion are complemented by a Wetherspoons (to get them in early). A good online guide is available at www.pubsnewcastle.co.uk
Hotels are pricey but if you can get into one of the Travel Inn-type places- there are a few dotted around. If you're really cheap (or want to save all the cash for drink) then try the Hotel F1 - it's one of those with a swipe credit card thing and it's all automated. Its twenty-odd a night but I can't imagine it being roomy! F1 is a taxi ride out of town.
For familes looking to make a weekend of things- I cannot recommend highly enough a trip up the Northumberland coast to see the castles at Alnwick or Bamburgh. Holy Island is possible but wrap up very well. Walkers are well served in the Northumberland national park while those after a bit of history can enjoy the Roman Wall or one of the forts at Segudunum (Wallsend) or Arbeia (South Sheilds). In Newcastle the Centre for Life and Discovery Museum are pretty cheap if you're kids are keen on that sort of thing (I never was!)
I think it would be a great crack and after all, what would the crowd be, 600 tops? I dunno.
We're a friendly bunch (though not to each other,) and I think there is some room here to accept on our behalf that this is the game. For Christ's sake, the bloke aove has to work and it is his home game.
Going up/playing that early is not much of a help for either set of the fans either.
The table still looks good, we still pay £100-350 per game, so let's take it on the chin.
p.s. I have just read "pointless" about E.Stirling, so I have fallen in love with the club once agin.

I take my 2 boys(4 & 7),all the time to blyth away games.
Please bring your boys, they`ll have a great time i`m sure. All your supporters will be made to feel very welcome in the clubhouse.
This is like Bolton and the African Nations Cup. You sign the players knowing what they can do and when they can play.
the competition is supposed to be played at 3.00 on a Saturday and after the bloody farce of the coming away game at Thurrock, lets not moan and just get on with it! It should be obvious to just about everyone that all we were going to achieve is to wind up the locals.
Didn't have any trouble the previous time I went to Spartans so not expecting any this time.
If anyone from Blyth reads this, anyone got the latest gen on whether the Saturday rock night at the Newcastle Arena did indeed cease a couple of weeks ago?

We are not either. If you're guessing based on that, I say 539 fans.

20 or 30 cant see many going, lower league opposition all that way 3pm kick off. I imagine most will sit and wait for updates of a comprehensive victory and save their time and money.

Looks like 0-0 then with 10 open goals missed. Have a safe trip Muggy along with all the others flying/driving or training it up to the North East, bring back that entry into the next round!
