Having seen the exchanges in the Trophy Away to Woking thread I thought Idmake the following observations about opinions.
Im sure that we have all expressed positive and/or negative opinions which have subsequently been proven to be wrong. What has to be borne in mind is that an opinion is just that, it is the view of the person expressing it at that point in time based upon what they have seen (or possibly what they have been told) and on occasion is subject to the knee jerk reaction. Some months later subsequent performances may well have revised those opinions either positively or negatively. To harp on about what someone may or may not have said in the past seems to me to be a pointless exercise.
If we are being critical it is obviously far better to do so in a constructive manner but maybe we can see nothing about which we can be constructive at that point in time and that shouldnt prevent us from expressing our opinion.
Just my opinion.

We have to remember, these werent opinions saying Red wine is better than White. Thats not going to offend anything other than a few grapes.
These were several players and several very young being regularly slagged off and told they werent good enough by one person over a number of weeks.
Thankfully in the main hes been proved to be wrong.
Just my opinion.
Opinions yes, constant picking on and slagging off of a handful of players when not even at some of the games.... bang out of order and quite stupid. it was almost every week and very boring.
Absoloutely laughable that two of those stirring (both posted personal abuse on here of late) are straight on here agreeing... how sick is that and again LAUGHABLE.
Furthermore this thread is extremely ill advised, you were only going to get some of the same old crawlers from under the stone brown nosing and stirring again after recent threads and you gave them the opportunity of an open goal. It also seems a bit of taking sides which could be lumped in wth some of the finger pointing of the other threads.
There has been some personal abuse on here of late and this thread only keeps it going. Maybe when we disagree with someones posts this is open season to start threads highlighting it.
Just my opinion. Get behind the team and dont be proved to be clueless by berating youngsters non stop.

Very philosophic, an opinion is as you say...just that, and an opinion read by a player about himself could have an effect, being thoughtful of what is written here is important. Confidence can be effected I think. A few moments thought is all it takes to change what could be damaging to encouraging.
In the main most of what we write and read is good and long may it continue.
The mood of opinions will change depending how well we are doing.
Lets be clear I'm not taking sides nor am I defending the berating of players young or old but the right of individuals to have an opinion and to express it which I believe is the cornerstone of a forum.
I happen to agree that being over critical of young players who are still learning their trade is not desireable but then again so is bigging up a player on one or two performances and we have seen the results of that in the past too. Part of the development of a young player is learning to deal with both criticism and praise and I'm sure that Jamie and his team are fully aware of this and are giving the appropriate advice.
As you have said JgFc there is not a flood of critical opinions posted and that in itself puts the matter into perspective without challenging the right of a poster to express their opinion.
I have to say that the comment about 'personal abuse on here of late' from one of those who has been an active participant is somewhat 'pot kettle black'. With all participants adhering to the principle that 'he has had a pop at me and he ain't getting away with it' the situation is inflamed and overtakes the subject of the thread. I'm not sitting at the computer screen 24/7 waiting for each post to be made and as with yesterday I will declare enough is enough when I catch up.

I wont say i will never respond to it, But you yourself have deleted personal attacks from Muzza, Mahoney and others in this little group. So my point about people starting personal abuse is valid. If you feel thats not the case, i am even more confused by this threads contents. More finger pointing and not quite accurate.

I'd be very concerned if any post of mine, or anyone's for that matter, were ever deleted unless deemed libellous and/or illegal and/or abusive. As mentioned before, an opinion cannot be wrong.

I am so glad that I am totally stupid and not clever enough to even have an opinion. If I ever did have an opinion, I probably wouldn't agree with it anyway!
