I'm not saying its a bad thing its off, it can work in our favour (although its rearranged for a tuesday night in january which isn't likely to be any better for attendances). But I've just walked past again all of 5 minutes ago and seen that there is no standing water on the pitch - just a few puddles along the touchline where water is running down off the roof of the main stand. It looks playable to me

Have you seen the pitch Kevin, or just your mystical insight?
No obviously I havent, but I've seen the weather forecast and heard there is an inspection so I assume my comment isn't so shocking it warrants a sarcastic response.
Looking out the window I can understand why - looking at the actual pitch however, I can't. I refuse to believe that lower level pitches at games that are still going ahead are in better condition than ours
According to my twitter feed, all blue Square games in Kent are off, Locally Pheonix Sports game off but Bar open, further afield Maidstone United game is on at the Gallagher 15:00 Kick off.

Its not going to get better is it and it had standing water a couple of days ago and then more rain, weather is poxy. Crowd would probably be poor as weather is poor and its 3 days from Christmas. Tonbridge dont bring many either.
Lower clubs probably need the money and are used to playing on bogs and cut up pitches so getting their pitch chewed up will not bother them, lower level refs are usued to park pitches and playing on a paddy field.
Shame weve lost another festive fixture. Hopefully get 500 plus for the rearranged game and Tonbridge can bring 50 or so.
Can Eric sort a bouncy castle type inflatable roof over PVR for the winter to keep the rain away?
There is a positive... it gives some players a rest and allows others to recover from knocks.

I got to the ground at about 11.30 and wondered why it was off as from the PVR end it looked ok. However the Park end was very bad and not playable without a wet suit and flippers
I would love to know if todays ref did that. I reckon they should do a knee slide, run from one goal to the center circle, then do a knee slide, if you end up in the goal then the pitch is too wet.

All Blue Square, Kent League and Ryman games (except for Maidstone on their plastic pitch) in Kent were called off today.

20 years ago most of them would've been on - Runcorn anyone?

1/1/83 Welling 7 Waterlooville 3 and it could have been a few more if it hadn't been for the paddy fields in each box (No, that was the name of the centre backs!!!)
The deluges at Forest Green and Southport also spring to mind
I know the debate over 3G pitches has opened up again but until the FA use some common sense and lift the ban on them being used in the Conference and above, then we can't even contemplate having a 3G pitch.
It's a real shame as if the ban wasn't in place then having a 3G pitch in place for clubs our size would be a no-brainer
Maidstone United are raking in a small fortune from hiring out there pitch throughout the week without having to worry about the condition of the pitch. They also don't have to worry about having to throw a load of match-day programmes in the bin when it starts raining the day before a game. Although they will have worries if in several years time they become promotion contenders to the Conference....
