General consensus on the Cambridge forum is that he's not being given a fair crack of the whip (he either plays out of position on the wing, or sits on the bench) and will be off in the summer:
"I think he wants strikers who can hold the ball up and threaten in the air as key attributes (as well as the obvious goalscoring threat). Don't think Pugh fits this. I'd be surprised if he doesn't move on in the summer.
I'd be extremely disappointed if Smith walked straight back in to the team without giving Pugh a chance up top
Regarding Pugh, we bought him presumably because he was scoring goals for fun before joining us, but seem surprised that it doesn't work quite as well when he's played out of position. Seems f***ing obvious to me and many others doesn't it? I'm not saying he's the best thing since sliced bread, but perhaps Money might consider that there can be an alternative to 6 ft 6 inch bruiser thug types up front, even in this league Pugh hardly gets a look in, even when we are down to bare bones! I think the reason he hasn't yet gone, is because the Directors paid out to get him. Same with Smith. I'd allow Pugh to go though, he's a good player and if Money doesn't want to use him someone else should and prove him bloody wrong! Pugh will most definitely be moved on. Once management have made there mind up they no longer want a player there seems no chance of changing it. They seem scared to use him incase he does well in his preferred position. It annoys the hell out of me that Money seems obsessed with playing two or three 6ft plus strikers. Give Pugh a go for christ sake see what he can offer
I like Pugh, you could see when he 1st came into the team you could see he is intelligent, made excellent runs"
Those are just some of the dozens of comments being made. I'd take him back in a heartbeat. We know he's more than good enough for that level, so what does everyone think of our chances of getting him back next season if we're in the league above? And would we be willing/able to pay a fee for him if it were absolutely necessary?
I don't really want to answer a question that includes 'if we're in the league above' in it. But whatever division we are in I'd definatley have Pughy back, along with messers Pires and Parkinson.

We dont know what sort of wage he is on now, I doubt our budget will be much bigger than this season.
Agreed, but I think he's the type who would much rather be playing and showing what he can do whilst picking up a smaller wage packet, rathen than sitting on the bench twiddling his thumbs. Plus he would be moving back from full-time to part-time so could supplement his income with another job if needed.
I just think that if he does leave we'd have as much of a chance as anyone of getting him. Jamie can get the best out of him. Would love to be able to sing "We've got Pugh and Cumbers" again.
No chance unless he wants to take a 33% wage cut minimum, Hes getting married next year and is buying a house. Not sure if he would score loads at that level given he played up front till they moved him out wide.
That said if he REALLY wanted to come back and chose us over other sides then would have him back in an instant as a focused Pughy is class.

Parkinson wouldn't happen. Woking are seeing what a good player he is, and it won't be long before he leaves them behind and moves into the football league in my opinion.
I'd take Pires any day of the week at Blue Square South level, but not above that. I don't think he has the consistency or work rate required to play for us in a league in which we would see less of the ball and be up against much more gifted opposition. Whilst he could produce moments of absolute magic, critically his first touch has never been good enough. At BSP level we couldn't afford to continually give the ball away because we'd get punished. Pugh on the other hand seems to play with superglue on his boots. I'm sure if the opportunity to bring Andy back presents itself then Daisy would look into it.
Find me a player that scored as many crackers, won as many penalties, set up as many and further more never stops praising us as a club and that person would be a great signing. He also improved consistency greatly in his second season.
I would take him back in a shot if he fitted in with our budget and Jamie wanted him. Hes got improvement in him still.
We all know Jamie can find players so just leave it to him. He could probably find a youngster he thinks could be as good as players that have left given a few matches.

Would love to see Andy Pugh back in a Wings shirt if we could afford him particularly if we are in BSP. With Jamie's Cambridge connections I'm sure he'll be aware of what the true position is.
As far as Loick is concerned I would not want to see him back (even if he scores a hat trick against us when we play them). To me Roscoe is a much better option - gives 100% every week, just what you would need in BSP.
Its not either or though is it, Loick is a lefty in a 4-3-3 or an inside left foward. Ross is a better striker than Loick but playing Loick as a striker is not the way imho

I'd take Pires back in a shot. I agree Lafayette is a better out and out striker, but Pires gives us something different. I thought he was consistent last season (although agree he was highly inconsistent the season before) and he was immense in the play-off semi-final first leg. Who else would have scored a goal like the one he did in our 4-3 win against Salisbury?
A forward line of Lafayette, Pires and Pugh with Cumbers in some shape or form would give any team at Conference level a few headaches. I saw Pughy play against Dartford on New years day as our game was called off and he played on the right wing. He was neat and tidy and did nothing wrong but seemed wasted having to defend and help his full back.
Seems a shame people have it in for Pires, last season he was excellent and never seemed disinterested to me!
Yes the partnership of lafayette and Reid is good but Reid is a player for Blue square south league but not the primer the real strike force you would wants is lafayette and Pugh that would just be unstoppable.
