I have just re-read your reply regarding sponsorship. I may have mis read it. Raising money as a sponsorship is what I thought you meant, however, are you referring to outside companies sponsoring it via advertising and they pick up the costs of improvements?
Either way, it is a good idea.

Our tannoy is a joke - I (amongst others) had no idea what the minutes silence was for on Saturday. As soon as you get a half decent crowd its impossible to hear anything. IF we go up then frankly you may as well turn it off and hold up hastily written notes telling you who scored etc - it's probably about as much use. I'm sure it could be sorted out for a couple of thousand, is it something the club and WUSA could jointly fund?
I too had to ask about the reason for the minute's silence, and have often thought that the sound quality from the tannoy system was questionable. In a perfect world the club would invest in improving it. However, I would imagine that things have to be prioritised and with an extremely limited cashflow the tannoy system has had to be put lower down the list of things to do. I suppose the question has to be "is it fit for purpose"? Maybe the answer is yes.......just.
I have no idea of the costings involved, but if we take a hypaphetical amount of a couple of thousand pounds. That amount would have be on top of any operational or fixed costs associated with running the club, be it wages, rent, fuel, re-paying debt ect. If we do get promoted, what if any are the outlay costs involved in ground improvements?
I feel that there is a need for improvement in the speaker system but I can understand why it has not yet been done.
Good idea, but it may still come down too priorities. A. New tannoy system. B. Set up costs of any new in house food wagon. C. Upgrading the Wings bar to account for hopefully much increased volume of people. D. Upgrading of medical facilities. E. Toilet improvements.
Possibly, getting a couple of companies in to give recommendations and costs could be a start. Would not cost anything and would give an idea of monies needed to upgrade rather than replace.
Would you believe the tannoy system is fairly new. If I am right it only got installed last season. It is fantastic and can be heard everywhere at 12.30 but not at 3 p.m.
Gents , it's not a new system !! Some new speakers were put in the main stand I had the quotes drawn up at the beginning of the season for a new system around the ground but other uses were needed for the cash Believe me if we can get sponsorship for it we will
Surely as its safety related there is a grant somewhere towards the costs , Maybe Wusa could have a fund raiser for the tannoy if they dont want to vote on paying for one outright?
I would have a new loud tannoy with new speakers in all parts of ground way ahead of refurbing the bar or tea bars in priorities. How would you feel in a big crowd if something happened and people couldnt hear the tannoy directing people in a direction or giving safety advice?

If the tannoy works perfectly and can be heard around the ground at 12.30 but not at 3pm would it not be possible to dupe the system by putting its digital clock back by 2.5 hours ? thus it thinks its 12.30 at 3.00 pm when we need it to work ( ok slightly sarcastic )
I like a good few others could not hear anything from the high street end before the game,in fact it seemed quieter then usual but it actually seemed louder than normal at the park end at half time. I am assuming that because it has been like this for the last 2seasons that there are no specific rules concerning the levels of sound in all parts of the ground?
Is it possible that with the number of people attending PVR to watch football the tannoy system is more of a communication device rather than a health and safety tool? I would imagine that who ever is in charge of health and safety issues has a duty to abide by whatever requirements that are laid down either by the FA our local council as well as the health and safety regs. I'm finding that I'm swaying on the side of the club, which is not my intention as I am impartial. I would imagine that we have to provide adequate numbers of stewards who are able to communicate with each other in case of need.
If the risk of a hazard is not reduced significantly by upgrading the tannoy system, then why not channel any spare money elsewhere to enable increase in profits. This in turn could then assist in funding any other issues as need be.
On another note, prioritising where monies get used is extremely difficult for those that actually have to make the decision. For a complete idiot like myself, telling others to make the decision is very easy.

This is exactly why I keep banging on about bringing catering in-house. It's no good continually saying "we don't have the money for this, this and this". Unless the board recognise that we actually have to make short-term investent for what is a huge long-term gain, then we will always be in this position.
