The Wings fly upto the North East this Saturday in a big FA Trophy match and potential Banan Skin vs lower league Blyth Spartans, a proper non league club steeped in history. The Wings still have a lot of injuries and more worryingly have lost their form. Can the Wings cruise to a win or will the recent trend continue and another lower ranked team knock them out?
Vital match as a large fee and possible glory tie is there for the Victors, this will add to the Cup winnings kitty for an assault on the Conference South next season (If we drop out of the play offs and dont go up this season). I am going for a 2-0 Welling Win and hope that at worse the Spartans are brought down to PVR for a replay where we can finish the job.
Thoughts welcome , before , during and after the match. Updates of the latest news and score will be in this thread from kick off time on Saturday.

Blyth Manager was at St Albans. I have a feeling he will be surprised on Saturday, good job he saw Wellings worst match of the season! Interesting he still saw that the standard was higher than his league.
From the Officail Blyth Spartans Website...
Manager Dunn’s absence was a result of him travelling to see St. Albans take on Saturday’s opponents Welling in a top of the table Conference South fixture which finished 3-1 to the hosts.
“ It was a good game,” Dunn reported. “The pitch had a slope like at Spennymoor and with St. Albans kicking down it in the first half they were all over Welling like a rash.
“The home side’s first goal looked offside while their second was from a deflected shot. The third was a bit of a fluke with a header after a shot which had hit the bar.
“The second half was a completely different story with Welling having 90% of the play and looking a completely different side. “Day, in the middle for Welling, ran the show with the two lads up front looking like tidy players. The overall standard of the play was above Unibond Premier level with both sides enjoying knocking the ball around.
“From what I hear about our defending against Ossett we will be whipped if we play like that again on Saturday coming. Every team has a stinker now and again and we just have to hope that the Ossett game was ours for a while”
Dunn hopes to have several players back from injury for the Trophy tie including forward Liam Gildea, midfielder Christian Graham as well as influential defender Gareth Williams who missed the Ossett game through an incident in training last week.
Dunn concluded “We will have to be on our metal on Saturday and both Graham and myself will be working extremely hard during the week to make sure the lads are raring to go. This is a big game for us and we want to put Saturday behind us and put on a performance both for our own pride and for the Croft Park crowd.”

Christ, they're taking it seriously if he travelled all the way down here for the match! I wonder if the hobbits would even cough off the £3.50 for Ade to go and see Greenwich Boro?

The spirit of the FA Cup is alive, in the FA Trophy. If I drink less than 18 pints in Whitley Bay, I'll give the fare back to my job who think I'm in a meeting on Friday night.
Congratulations on beating us today, I can see why you are a good team, we missed an open goal in the first half and then you scored your two goals. You got your third just after the re-start and then we fought back well and scored a great goal but the match was already over by then.
Combination of both mate, plus supporter wars lol with some reading only and not posting due to factions in the camp.. Did the Wings bring many and make some noise. Professional performance, did the job. I think we are all a bit relieved we have 5 or 6 players out injured and played people out of position due to necessity. Good Luck for the rest of the season.

You had about 30-40 supporters at Croft Park today I reckon, very vocal especially in the first half, loudest and best supporters at Croft Park since we hosted Alfreton on the final day of the 2003-04 season.
As you say your team put in a professional performance (but you didn't p**s on us), is that the overall standard of the Conference level 2?
Barrow 1-2 Cambridge City Blyth Spartans 1-3 Welling Boreham Wood 3-1 Gravesend Canvey Island 0-1 Salisbury Carshalton Ath 2-2 Accrington Stanley Crawley Town 3-1 Worcester Dag & Red 2-1 Kettering Exeter 3-2 Histon Halifax 0-1 Hereford Kidderminster 0-1 Grays Athletic Stafford Rangers 1-0 Morecambe Stalybridge 1-0 Solihull Tamworth 1-0 St Albans Weston-S-Mare 1-1 Worksop Woking 1-1 Northwich
Well Boreham Wood or Salisbury at home will be good. Crawley or Stalybridge or Stafford!!!! at home good too. We dont want Exeter or W*king AWAY or Grays. Mind you the way the Conference teams treat the trophy, maybe we do!!
By the way... OH DEAR, Gravesend!!!

It'll be away to Stafford at some point and we go out.... or meet them in the final and win... so I still wouldn't be able to say I'd seen us win at Marston Road.
Trip to Salisbury would be a nice day on the lemon squash!
