New ground for many of you, Artificial pitch and decent home team. Would be good to see us score a few on Tuesday and be ruthless in front of goal.
Hopefully a few Wings fans there to join the regular fans who have turned up at the away friendlies so far. Numbers have been strangely sparce. If you plan on going, get there early and sit in the stand as the terracing is small and not great.
I predict goals, Wings to win 4-2 or 5-2.
There is a train back at 9:48 to Bromley South so as long as the ref doesnt play silly time it should be fine.

I believe its a fiver for adults on Tuesday at Maidstone. Fair play to them, should be a decent crowd and a few of Parkys youth team have broken through to the fringes of the first team. Charley Robertson a Gareth Bale type player that i hoped would be on our radar, Parky's Brother Dan and also Sully the right back.
We were much the better team, played some lovely stuff, looked fit and the youngsters looked good and worked Maidstone.
Interviews with Jamie Day and Malik Ouani plus highlights will be up over the next day or two on WingsTV. Freeview will be up with Jamie Day on official site also.
Off the pitch it looks good. but they screwed up the visitors list for several people and the co owner was rude and ignorant to our case and didnt listen at all, he also said we weren't on the list and he didnt care (he said he wasnt interested in what we had to say more than once) or want to see the email on my phone confirming it.
Having hit a brick wall we paid and as i had filmed there a few times for their youth team and also a ladies game, i went to the media level where he came to us again saying we cant film, we arent media and we arent on their list.
Bill Williams however is a man of great class as were the match day officials/announcer who eventually sorted it while we were on the end of another rant from the co owner in the press area, Bill Williams and the Match Day announcer came up and apologised as it was Maidstones fault (and thanked us for the money in paying to get in as they needed it), the lady on the pass gate apologised later on to Spills when she heard that Maidstone had confirmed it but not added us to their list. The co owner didnt apologise however and the whole experience left a nasty taste as when trying to explain we were being talked over with im not interested. I feel if he had looked at the confirmation it would have shown we werent trying it on as thats how we were made to feel.
No problem with Maidstones administration error, it happens, but not being listened to and being talked over and told he wasnt interested in seeing the confirmation on my phone when later others apologised and admitted their fault was not nice. Off the pitch they need to improve and its important to listen to someones problem, then make an informed correct decision.

Played some good stuff in parts and yet again some really good youngsters on show, young Corne looked a player in the first half. Clarkey up front worked well on this surface. Wasn't a Stones player who you thought would enhance our side to be honest.
The ground is smart, but a lot of overkill in parts. Seems like an architect went a bit bonkers and forgot to think about potential further development.
Highly professional set up off the pitch and can see them pushing on. The 3G pitch played well, but you always winced when a player went down in case they turned an ankle or knee.
Pitch is superb, it looks in a right state from a height but when you are on it its a carpet. I dont agree with them as i think Stones have a huge advantage on and off the pitch. If all clubs had one i have no problem with them. But its the haves and the have nots with clubs being forced to pay 500k if they want to compete on a level playing field.
Im convinced if Maidstone go up soon that they will have to rip it up and play on grass or defer promotion.

And I am convinced that they would never had spunked the money on installing it in the first place unless they felt they have a watertight case to continue to use it at a higher level......
Interesting, As you currently cant use it in the Conference or higher or the proper rounds of the FA Cup, i dont see any water tightness. I think it was put in to make money in the belief that the FA would allow them and other clubs to play on them at a future date without restrictions by leagues.
There is a lot of lobbying by them to get the surface allowed. I think its a gamble, it maybe a good gamble but its a gamble non the less.

It's only a gamble if you don't think you will win....

I read that Maidstone United head a group of clubs under the banner 3G4US who are lobbists for artificial pitches.
Maidstone have been wrecked before from a strong position...with that co-owner sounds as if eventually it will happen again...unless someone reels him in!
