Personally I would take the Dockland Light Railway from London City to Woolwich and pick up a 96 bus from there. I have checked the tfl journey planner and it agrees with me for a change (I spent 35 years working for them). Journey time is shown as 45 minutes.
Sorry forgot second part of your post. Kick off for evening games is 7.45

Taxi will be a nightmare as will go via Greenwich will be about £40 in black cab. If you got under the river via the foot tunnel at north woolwich then the fare would be about 15 quid i think to Welling. (Plus a fiver in a cab from LCA to north woolwich foot tunnel)
If you land on time and book the taxi to pick you up from Woolwich you should be able to do it and save money. Or just pay the £40 from the airport to welling in a cab if you want to save hassle.
Theres a few cabbies on here who might do you a fare at an agreed price.

Can anyone tell us how long it should take to get from London City Airport to the ground and the best way to do it - looking at coming for the Aldershot game and flight times r tight, can you also confirm if you know what time evening kick off is with the mid week games - cheers
A taxi would need to cross the Thames either through the Blackwall Tunnel or via the Woolwich Ferry. Both can be subject to queues and considerable delay during the evening rush hour.
Regardless of cost, Squarevanman's route is probably your most reliable bet for making it in time for kick off. There is also the option though of picking up a taxi in Woolwich. I used to work there and there was a cab rank by the side of the station which I guess is still there even though the road layout in Woolwich has been changed a lot in the last couple of years.
That DLR from London City to Woolwich Arsenal is so quick and efficient it would be madness to not take it. It goes from inside the airport terminal, takes about 5 mins, they run every 5 mins and it costs about £2.50. The other options from Woolwich are the 51 bus or a minicab (about £10 I'd guess)
