Yeah I got that as well. Certainly didn't see any signs or notices :O Don't really care where I enter the ground, just would be good to see a sign up or something :)
and I sat in a stand half full of Cambridge supporters, with money to spend, sitting above a closed bar, next to the chap who was recording for the Cambridge website but who had been denied access to the press box!

Not that I know much but I do sit in front of the press box and it was overfull tonight. One member of the press who was sitting without the benefit of the table asked about the clapping. I explained the reason but come on folks hardly any clapping in the main stand-lets take our cue from the lads and lassies behind the goal on Saturday.
At Charlton game got served after EIGHTEEN MINUTES and was near counter for all of that, it was utter pandemonium. They were queueing 3 deep, had 3 bar staff on who were very slow, except the younger woman, they were running out of drinks (bottles etc) and it was a shambles, the glasses looked dirty, not dried as they kept running out and were recycling them. No pre pours where done in plastic glasses for the rush hence a huge chaotic bottle neck.
Im not sure given their organisation they could do a stock check and hence a split profit deal with Welling on Match days, theyve opened the bar for Charlton games before so its not as if they didnt know what was coming. It was pretty poor but they are used to 40 people going to their games and probably 10 people in their bar. If we put two cabins in between the new stand and park end on the back as a bar it would be better than their old bar at their old ground, thats not going to happen so maybe we can do the outside pumps again.
In a 1000 crowd you dont need the Erith Bar open, people cant just turn up at 730 and expect a drink. If its Luton or Aldershot its a 2000-3000 crowd and it will be segregated so the "away"bar will be ordered to be closed. As for the gate issue, there should have been posters or notification in advance, agreed ....but the gate people were directed to was next to the turnstiles, try arriving at away grounds and being told you need to walk round the whole ground and go in that gate to get your pass when they could have told you what gate from the start.Going in through the main gate is also faster than going in through the turnstiles, surely thats a plus for season ticket holders?
Some times the club gets stick and its warranted , other times people want to have a dig over something thats no biggy and want to hang them,In this thread people have been grunted at and others have been asked politely... says it all.

The situation with the bar is a farce. The Wings bar was packed at half time. The only good thing is that the burger bar queue no longer blocks the entrance. Let us hope that common sense prevails and that a deal can be reached with E&B&Q to use their bar on matchdays. I won't hold my breath!

Several supporters also had their umbrella's confiscated they were the golfing type with a BLUNT metal tip, when I challenged this, the flippant reply, I got from a steward was a supporter has been stabbed with these in the past.
Yes I agree that any instrument can be used as a weapon, but the clue of holding an umbrella is the rain landing on our heads. (I suppose next will be when the winter comes scarfs, will be removed in case we strangle someone with it)
I also got told off for not using the main gate, so from walking from the gate to getting in the ground I am naturally P***ed off by have my umbrella taken away and told off for using the now wrong entrance.
No communication from the club about any by law changes to it fans, as a result winding up the faithful who have seen them through the dark times. Had I been a new fan coming to welling for the first time I would not have come back with the lack of customer care shown last night.
Oh we also sell umbrellas in the club shop but if you bought one at a game because it is raining, working on last nights rationale, it would have to be confiscated as you leave the shop as it the golfing type with the metal blunt tip and collect it from the shop after the game. - Quality!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I had a similar experience at the turnstiles as an exec lounge ticket holder. However, the lady concerned was very polite. I do hope that signs are displayed in time for the Grimsby match. Regards the E&B bar, we must overcome differences and make a mutual arrangement for this facility to be open when we expect large crowds so that both clubs can make some money. The problem, I suspect, is that more people would be tempted to use that bar rather than our own.
As regards the clapping tribute on 25 minutes to Adam, I think we fell down a mite on this - perhaps there should have been a prominent notice in the WUSA programme notes? Even I, for a moment, wondered what was going on until I jogged my memory from a post on this forum and joined in.
sounds like the usual farce and they just have to open up the e+b bar but it won't happen. Missed yesterday but will experience all of this first hand on saturday.....
Considering the lack of numbers and funds off the field, I think the club, and especially the volunteers have done a decent job by getting the club shop moved and a food bar put in.
(Although the success of the team has driven this, when usually it should be the other way round....)
It looked organised round the back of the main stand rather than the usual scrummage.
The mobile bar thing that we had last season is surely the solution if we can't sort out anything else. I was asked to use the main gate but I wouldn't say I was told off. Did have my bag searched though...
There'll be plenty of scrummaging all the time those cars park there. Three people in the queue at the burger bar at a time and you can't get by.
Once The London Borough of Bexley get the wall repaired either themselves or by the owner of next doors property the the harras fence will go and cars can park closer to the wall. That way additional space will become available.
I think the season ticket holders issue is sorted for the Grimsby game as season ticket holders now know that they have to enter via the gate (unless this get changed of course)
But what is bag searching and confiscation of personal items all about?
at Wrexham the stewards were seen and not heard, but several supporters including me thanked them as we left the ground.
I was also ordered to gate the gate rather than the normal turnstyle and I asked why this had not been communicated our signage put up, but I just got a vacant look.
this is probably as a result of needing more turnstyles and welling decided to try to use a gate rather than actually solve the problem and build more

Your first two posts suggest you are a troll, interesting you used the word Welling not we. Good trolls ease their way in, otherwise they last 2 minutes and new name needed.

Bag searching? Really. This is all very mickey mouse isn't it. The rules are no different this season, just more people. Why the sudden change in procedure. Jumped up jobsworth's I suspect.
At the end of the day it was only the first home game of the season. Things will (should) improve as time goes on. Lets hope the club learn from last nights experience and take on board some of the constructive comments made here so far. Lets face it we all knew that this season was going to throw up some challenges for the off field organisation side of the club. Lets give it a little time to settle in first. After another say 3 or 4 games we will then have a better idea what problems need to be acted on by the club.

I had no problem at all entering the ground with my season ticket at the turnstiles at around 7pm, and nobody asked to search my bag says the missus. she does have a problem with the dour faced barmaids though. :)

Head to the bottle bar at half-time on Saturday where Kevin and Polo will happily serve you with a cheeky wink and a smile, and maybe a glimpse of cleavage

I must look a bit edgy then, I take that as a compliment!
