As a retired person with time on my hands I could certainly deliver in my local area. This would be Russell Park/Bexleyheath Academy, Long Lane heading towards Northumberland Heath. This may of course not be your target area, if so, give me a patch and i will attempt to deliver. I hope this is helpful.

In three words I can sum up everything i've learnt in life; it goes on.
Need a map and to colour roads and try and check them off when done otherwise you are just doing a street here and there. Would be good to try and get people doing them the same day. Next Sunday? or the flyers will be out of date? try and get two people in groups doing one side of the street each and then doing the next one. Its a bit rushed as we have decided to push the Non League Day (wouldnt have been my choice unless we had something happening before 2pm to attract people and not sure the hook is there for people that have never been to PVR before but well done on trying something and its getting our name out there at least.)

Thanks to the handful of people that spoke to me today and took leaflets - much appreciated !!!!
Moo - Thanks for the offer I can drop some off if you wish
Could spread the word far and wide even to the far reaches of Kent with some offers today(You know who you are)
but not so close to home maybe some people could just send them via social media as thats obviously easier
Screw Barnet, promote Welling, if anyone would really pay £15 Just to be at the game as Edgar Davids is there they are mad. Hes not exactly David Beckham. IMO
Anyone with a mild interest in football knows who he is - largely due to his glaucoma glasses. You need to grab their attention in the first second, otherwise it goes in the bin with the other dozen pieces of junkmail they've had that week. He'll do that. Even if they don't turn up that week, they'll at least become aware that we exist.
Get them in the ground, and produce an entertaining game/a shock win and they'll hopefully come back. But you need to get them in the ground first. To do that, they need to read the flyer.
When we play Charlton or Arsenal XIs, do you think our attendance doubles/triples because everyone is there to watch Welling?

I remember when Harvey from So Solid Crew played for AFC Dons and a group of about 20 kids from school went to the game to watch him play. I am of the opinion that Edgar David's is more of a pull than him?!? Let people know he's there and people will come. I remember us promoting the fact we had legends at the ground last year(Kerry Dixon?). If we are to believe you then what was the point in that? I think promoting one of the most iconic footballers of my generation is worth a shout

I picked up some leaflets from Paul earlier, and managed to leaflet one of the streets by the ground. Quite a few people were outside making the most of the weather, and the response on the doorstep was pretty positive. The pre-2PM entry deals went down quite well as did the U12s going free.
I believe there are quite a few of the flyers left, so if you can give a hand putting a few of them through letter boxes please message Paul and let him know.
Alot of the improvements to the club that people have asked for on this forum require money, which we simply don't have. To generate money, we have to boost attendance and gate receipts. The only way we can do this by promoting the club. The club doesn't have the money to do a massive promotional campaign, so we have to promote it ourselves. Whether this be by leafleting, using social networking, inviting friends/family to games, or a combination of all three, please do something.
We're not going to get attendances of 7,000+ like Luton overnight, but as the attendances do go up, so will revenue, and as finances improve THEN we can look at other improvements.
P.S I believe there are still copies of the Salisbury programme available as I picked one up earlier from Paul. So if you are heading to the club to pick up flyers and also want a Salisbury programme, let Paul know beforehand.

As the current leaflet emphasises, it's about supporting your local team. Not turning up to watch the Crazy Frog play for ten minutes and then never come back....

oooh im scared, see you at Hereford unless its raining or is that too far away?

I challenge you to find me a post where I've slagged a player off this season. Last year, my only (constructive) criticisms were directed towards Theo - didn't see you cry any tears when he left.
Edit: That'll be my last post on this thread. PM me if you want to continue slagging me off Tom. I hope Polo leaves all of this up so people see you for what you are.

Paul do not know if a good deal or not but went past a printer by well hall roundabout today, they got a deal advertised at the moment 5000 flyers printed for £99 - maybe some help to keep cost down ?
You may have already thought of this but if not, can I suggest that we do some serious flyering for the Barnet game in the week leading up to it.
Have a full page image of Edgar Davids on it and really make a big deal out of his visit to PVR. The fact he probably won't play himself needn't matter. He's an instantly recognisable figure and with all due respect to our players, locals who have never been to a game aren't going to see a picture of Blaine Hudson on a flyer and go "Oh, we'd better head there for the next game". (It might be a different case if you put a picture of his missus on there...Phwoar ) Just a thought.

LOL to think people would come just because Davids is there is mental and completely disregards the problem that the community do not know who we are, where we are and what is on their doorstep. To pin all hopes on Edgar Davids bringing in new Welling United fans as he may be at a game watching from the sidelines is frankly... mind boggling.
We are on a drive to up gates not see if a fraction of the local community want to be in the same ground as Edgar Davids... who many youngsters would think whos he.

Once again you've just chosen a part of my comment to dissect, ignoring the rest.
When the leaflet comes through the door they need to read it. That way the community will know who we are. If they read it and then don't attend that particular game, no big loss, at least they've read it. And the reason they've read it is because they've seen a face they recognise on it and wondered what it's about. Otherwise, it's straight in the bin without a second glance.
We're delivering these door-to-door and your concerned about whether the youngsters will read it. Youngsters don't pick up the post in a normal household because 99% of the time the post is for their mum or dad, so they leave it to them. Dad recognises the player, he doesn't attend on Saturday, but he knows Welling have a team, he knows they're in Barnet's league, and when he does have a free Saturday he might pop down for a game - and bring his kids with him.
I hope you've read all that. If you didn't, maybe I needed to grab your attention a bit better. In which case it highlights my point.
You might have to check he doesn't have an image rights deal before you plaster his boat race on our flyers!!
That had crossed my mind as something that would need looking into. Just thought I'd make the suggestion, it's up to Paul whether he feels he can make it work for us.

Self explanatory, flyer our local community with a full page image of Davids... PMSL
That will help get us new fans. Lets hope it doesnt rain on the day.. people might sack off football.
Don't be so deliberately obtuse. Obviously it will have details of game, location, league table, prices as normal on it.
Funny how you completely ignored my second post again. Gonna revert to the old argument of "it's not worth my time reading it"? The reality is you, as usual, can't come up with a counter-argument.
I'll leave it up to Paul. I was only trying to be helpful with a suggestion, whether he goes with it is his choice but I'm sure he'll consider it on its potential merits rather than just casting it aside out of spite.
Still you need something to get people through the door so that you can hook them! What qualities do we have that would make fans go....oh let's pop off to Welling this afternoon? It's was only two weeks ago that an away fan asked 5 people on welling high street where the ground was and they didn't know.....I wonder how many of them would know Edgar Davids if they saw his picture?! 4 spurs fans for a game is still £60! Something which a club in our financial situation can't turn their nose up to!! Ill take the 60 quid it'll pay my Wings TV subscription!!

Getting back to the reason for this thread, Paul has produced a large quantity of excellent flyers, so if anyone would really like to help encourage new fans to Welling, the best thing you can do is to volunteer to deliver some.
I'm sure Paul takes on board what people say I'm here, hence why the flyers were produced. Maybe some of the comments here will give Paul some ideas for future, but let's see how this batch of flyers does first.

From the man who warned me what would happen "next time I get personal with him". Also from a man - and I use the term in the loosest possible sense - who went, what, 5 years without attending a game?
Apologies in advance to Polo who will have to delete all of this. It's been dragged down from what was a perfectly innocent suggestion, to Tom's usual slagging match.
Thanks to all those who have taken flyers and distributed today and yesterday
Still a few flyers left , but not that many
I wish more effort was put into the distribution as there is in fighting on here
If this leafleting campaign is successfull then we keep trying but lets stick to the topic and put some positive vibes back towards the club
on and off the field.
As the flyer says SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL NON LEAGUE CLUB

Very many good points above, and some open for much debate, but positivity is whats needed in the public domain, and lets not undermine Paul's excellent work. AWOOGA !!!!!
Am I reading this right and it would cost a 13 year old NINE quid to come and watch us ? I cant imagine there's many if any clubs in this league that would charge this. That is a joke.

I don't believe for a moment this was written by / you are 13 years old. Nor that you are a fan given its your first post. Don't like it? Don't come

I'm sure Paul's shopped around but having looked on google I've found some companies doing online offers of £50 for 5000 flyers with free UK delivery!
If anyone's in a generous mood and fancies going on a one man leafleting spree then if flyer templates are put up here then people can order a bundle of flyers themselves and leaflet the whole town.
Otherwise, message Paul if you're interested in joining future leafleting campaigns.
A big well done to those that helped promote the club prior the Kiddy game via leafleting, social networking, and word of mouth.

Apparently, Davids has already missed two away games so there is no guarantee that he will even be at PVR.
