Nothing more than a little cup game. Will be interesting to see what each squad puts out tonight. Could lead to some good money with the likelihood of the winner being at home to Charlton in the next round. should be a good game though. hopefully, some people will be persuaded to come because of cheaper prices
A crowd of 400 plus will be decent, should be some decent players from both sides although Dartford got well stitched up last year so you could forgive them for sending a weak team but doubt TB would would to lose tonight.
I would predict something like this for us, which is only Loick starting who started at Hereford.
I'm quite surprised how many friends and work colleagues I've got coming to tonight's game.
It's amazing how promotion to the Skrill Premier has changed the public's perception of the club. Although the tenner a ticket deal has helped as well.
Although I've mentioned it previously, I'd strongly recommend asking friends and/or family to come along tonight. The worst they can is say "well...Eastenders is on...."

To be honest......I still think this is a quite strong team...which can only be a good sign :) 400 would be good considering what kind of competition this is but would be good to see more than that. This club has developed hugely since we gained promotion and hopefully, the locals are recognising it and are going to want to see it for themselves. See you all tonight. The first of .....at least 3 meetins against Dirtford (could end up meeting in FA Cup). COYW!!!

I congratulate you for getting people down..i just hope the game is a good one and that they would want to come back...we can all talk of charlton in next round but tbh nobody cares about this competition and they are usually poor games. I'd much rather the players be ready for kiddy on saturday.
Mott and Turner unavailable, just not used, or gone?
Working? Injured? Who knows... although weren't people moaning about the kids not being played?...
No, they weren't. They were moaning about not having a full bench.
10 days ago Motty told me he thought tonight would be his first game back. With Daisy's comments about Butcher being #1, I'm not sure we'll ever get a chance to do the MottBot on the terraces.

I was not "moaning", just puzzled as to why some of our dual reg. players could not be used to fill a bench when we had injured or unfit players. Also puzzled, in the light of Jamie's decision to keep Lee Butcher, about the absence of Sam Mott and Jamie Turner and whether that is significant or, as you suggest, a consequence of injury or work commitments.
Ouani man of the match by a country mile, maybe he'll make the bench Saturday..turner was at the game so don't know what's happening there.
Totally agree. Made a couple of errors (one of which Jamie gave him massive ticking off for on the pitch for even though the error seemed relatively minor) but gave 100%.
JT Injured himself in training on Friday Jamie said. Pretty pleased to have lost that, not a great game but if Daisys shot goes in instead of hitting the bar at 1-1 we probably win. Think Dartford wanted it a bit more than us and they probably deserved to go through, we were very weak at the back and between the posts he looked very nervous. Dartford nearly scored 3 times from the lake in danson park.
Positive was was the young wide players Hudson and Ouani, they may not be the finished article but they are a nuisance and they keep going and occupy players
We only had 2 starters play and one of them only played 45 minutes and Daisy, Faz and KHM all coming back from injury or being out for weeks. KHM looked to be injured and struggling/pulling up and limping which is not good news for Saturday.

Have missed out a potentially decent pay day though
Hannington has played well in reserve games recently, and last night was one of the very few opportunities Jamie will have this season to see what Joel can do in a major game. He did make same good saves and does show alot of promise considering he's only 17. However it may have been too much too soon. It was probably his first game in front of a crowd and he got a bit of stick from the Dartford fans behind the goal. Some of the Welling fans weren't that supportive of him either but from what I could hear in the stand, some fans seemed to be under the impression that Hannington was Butcher?!?!
Hopefully Hannington will focus on the positives from his performance and continue to do well for the reserves. I'm sure we'll see him back in the first team again.

I too, think that everyone on this forum should be able to express their praise/criticism. Fans should be able to air their true opinions and not be forced to bite their tongue just because it might upset a player. If they have any character at all, they'll rise above it and use it as a source of motivation.
However, lets have a bit less hypocrisy and apply that rule to all forum users, and all players first team or otherwise, from now on.
I was criticised by certain forum users last season for saying that I didn't think 24 year old Theo Fairweather-Johnson was good enough (he's only young, you'll knock his confidence you moron etc) - as he's back at Thamesmead and nobody has kicked up a fuss about him leaving I'll assume my criticism was justified. Let's not just take the opportunity to slate a 17 year old because we know he'll probably never play for us again. If we feel a regular first team member continually performs badly or shows a lack of commitment (rarely the case with Daisy in charge) then we should be entitled to say so without certain hypocritical forum users lambasting us.

Yep I've made my points, and patronising me doesn't nullify their validity.
Tom, I have a problem with a grand total of ONE forum user. You have a problem with many, perhaps that is telling.
Edit: This was a reply to JGFC's latest comment, which, as usual he has deleted upon realising how it makes him look. I won't be commenting on this topic again, so please resume the match discussion.

No i have a problem with dickheads slagging off players and the club who go to a game here and there. If you have a problem with that i cant help you. Just drop me out of the rabid rants.
Deleted? how so , you quote every post to try and perpetuate an argument.
Youve made the right choice not to post in the thread again, another one youve hijacked into a barney.

Tough call last night between whether to give people game time or chuck a couple of first teamers on and going for the win.
In the long run 90 minutes for Daisy and KHM will do them good (as long as they came out of the game ok...?) Also Faz needed a game and Loick seems to be getting more up to speed.
Can't understand why the kid was in goal when we have three senior keepers currently in the squad. If Mott and JT were both injured then I am not sure why Butcher was "rested" as well??
Over the 90 minutes, although it pains me to say it, I though Dartford edged it especially in the second half when a few of ours appeared to be running on empty.
No problem with him starting as you have to find out if they can play. Jamie would have done better in goal as he showed when going in goal vs Crystal Palace. I would guess you may see him at Erith in London Cup but i dont see these games as first team, he had a really poor game, kicking, handling, shot stopping etc, so much so dartford were shooting from Sidcup and Orpington.
He looked like a fish out of water and the reserves coaches would have learnt a lot, sadly if we are trying to bring players through then we will need to look at other keepers because you simply couldnt play him in the first team or even have him on the bench. He tried his best and thats all you can ask but had we had a keeper, despite us not playing well we would probably have won.

I agree it was too much too soon. The poor lad was an accident waiting to happen most of the night. It was a tall order asking him to play in that game - he came on against Orient in the PSF when Mott got injured and looked out of his depth and again last night. Yes he is only 17 and there is plenty of room for improvement but last night will knock his confidence and I don't think that will help in the long run. There are some young lads like Sam Corne and Barney Williams that appear to take to this level comfortably and quickly but there are plenty more who don't.
If he is focusing on the positives from last night it won't take him very long....
Whilst there is some milage in what has been said about Joe Hannington, our collective management staff were there to see his performance for themselves, good or bad. Do we need to so publicly destroy a 17 year old who was there trying to do his best. We are a collective family cant we go forward in that manner, after al we are all Wings.

Agree with RonF. One game does not mean career over. Support our players be it first, reserve or youth. If they continue to put in poor performances then maybe you can have a dig. But I like many have faith in Jamie putting the right players on the park for the right occasion.

I quite agree
He was a 17 year old who plays for our U21's so he must have something going for him. Maybe he got an attack of the nerves. It can happen. Look at cricketer Kerrigan in the final Ashes test match. Slating him publically on here won't help.

Fully agree with Ron. Saw Joe on Saturday and was impressed. Give him a little more time and he will go onto bigger and better things.
