Apparently as a CIC within a London borough, we're eligible to apply for up to £100,000 towards improving facilities (as long as they're used by the community).
Exactly. Although I'm generally against the club generating more debt, if the club were to obtain £100,000 for a £167,000 project. The remaining £67,000 would be fairly manageable IF we stay in the conference prem. Hopefully the facility improvements from the hypothetical £167,000 investment would generate extra gate, commercial and non-matchday revenue.
Although the finances aren't fantastic they have been at least moving in the right direction recently. I wouldn't want this jeopardised by us too getting carried away but it isn't often opportunities like this come along.

Yes that was the very hypothetical extreme. I'd be VERY surprised if the club went for the £100,000 grant.
Although I wouldn't want us going for the smallest amount just for the sake of it. The £3,333 would only require 223 adult spectators over our 'break-even' attendance to create sufficient profit to make up the £3,333 for the £5000 grant.
It'd be interesting if the 40% project fund for the grant has to be provided/secured up front.
Looking at the grant criteria it looks like any modifications to the ground would require us to demonstrate we would permit the ground for public participation use. E.G private hire or allow the youth set-ups to play on it.
will assist with the creation or refurbishment of a space for the community to play sport or take part in physical activity
provide a lasting benefit to the community in the immediate vicinity of the project
deliver a multi sport approach
will focus on raising participation in sport and physical activity, particularly amongst previously inactive people. Projects will be expected to develop and implement strategies to encourage new participants onto the facilities, as well as increase the amount of active by individuals already participants at the sites. (An inactive person is defined as an individual who has participated in less than 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise in the previous four weeks.)
plan and deliver a multi-sector approach with local agencies and partners to ensure best use is made of the facility.

We can apply for £5,000 to £100,000 so it's quite flexible.
Although the grant only goes towards 60% of the cost of improvement projects, this is still an excellent opportunity as we've been crying out for assistance for ages.
Dartford got a whole stadium built for them. It would be nice if we got something for nothing from the local government for a change.
It will be gutting if we miss out on this opportunity.
Let's look at it another way though, it could be 60 per cent less than we would have to fork out for required ground improvements if we stay in conf prem.

That's a tad ambitious. I'm sceptical about us just finding £3,333 for the minimum amount!
