We're to be segregated on Tuesday. Would be interesting to hear why that is. Not a criticism, just curiosity. Are we expecting that many? or them to be that bad?
Let me explain - I was informed by two individuals that had been attending Welling games for a lot longer than myself that this was the case. If I mis-heard and have spoken out of turn, I apologise for any offence caused. Certainly not here to cause trouble or stir. I posted on what I believed was valid information.

Well I think the decision should be criticised...segregation at Welling should be resisted as much as possible. It starts with a few games and grows into being the norm.
If being the word.
How and why have they come to the conclusion its needed. There has been one incident with Woking in the last ten years. We've never played Aldershot, and I have heard nothing in recent times of them causing problems. Why is this game any different to any others.
The police have quite detailed security and intelligence as they showed for the Grimsby game.
They may have intelligence of particular people coming to the game, numbers of people, supporters from other clubs etc who may be coming to the game to have a go at Aldershot.
It's pointless specualting, the police don't have to give Welling a reason so we may never know why they want to segregate it.

Unfortunately Aldershot Town have an active hooligan's 'firm'. A Dagenham and Redbridge fan at work confirmed he had the misfortune of bumping into them last season. Now Aldershot have fallen back into non-league a lot of the banning orders their hooligans were given may currently not apply as banning orders usually only apply to league matches.
It's a shame the ground has to be segregated but I firmly believe the fans safety is a priority. Also we don't want a situation whereby Welling fans get attacked and the media try and spin it by making out it was both sets of fans starting a fight, and we then get tarred with the same brush.
We're very fortunate that we're actually allowed to have unsegregated games in this league.
So let me be clear, I was mistaken and spoke about a game that never happened. Hence PVR Newbee. (Note to self, don't comment unless 100% sure.)
I was referring to Lincoln incorrectly in this post. As per my previous post, "If I mis-heard and have spoken out of turn, I apologise for any offence caused."
I obviously mis-heard and seemed to have caused offence. Remind me JGFC, which one are you in the picture so that I can thank you on Tuesday for correcting me. I would guess the one on the left.

Touchwood nothing will happen.
Football banning orders have applied to Conference games for a good few years now....
It's going to be different tomorrow as I can't remember ever watching a match at PVR when segregated. Does seem strange that we can play against Millwall and West Ham in pre season and have no segregation.
Thats cos any potential ldiots don,t do friendlies
As someone said Police advice may have nothing to do with Welling Utd...example.....Luton are not overloved by West Ham OR Millwall.....they may see it as an opportunity.
I would rather be away from that IF it were to happen!

Police advice is a little misleading. Advice can be taken or ignored. I would word it police orders. Will be interesting to see how many of them attend this evening if they are so massively concerned.

I saw 5 of them and they were all standing together doing bugger all.
They were probably Special Constables. I've noticed at Charlton and Millwall games that most of the Police seem to be Sprcial Constables and then at the end of the season the clubs get charged £millions in policing bills, even tough Special Constables are voluntary!!!
I hope we haven't been conned into a similar arrangement....
Logistics? We are talking a gate and a fence.. its hardly building the Taj Mahal ffs.
Its pretty obvious if 700 luton fans get under that roof its a home game and if it pisses down wings fans will stay at home.
If weve made a choice to still put the oppo in there then we have to take the fact that the gates could suffer and the oppo have an advantage in creating noise on the chin. If the behind the goal mob voted for segregating them in there so they can swap ends... they might like to create some noise to counter act the oppo.
You know full well that when 25 people vote and most of them stand then no way will WUSA vote to segregate fans in the seats, especially when it was a closed vote for a select view. Its a selfish vote that will adversely affect games this season.
HOPEFULLY the club saw 15 fans out sing us from the new stand and they will look into putting the oppo uncovered in an end for the next segregated match. I

Absolutely, some people will be inconvenienced and likely to get cold/soaked at some point into the bargain. My point is ... this way not only are fans inconvenienced... so are the team... and thats just plain wrong.
Some of our fans say the club bend over sometimes which is pot and kettle when our fans give an advantage to the oppo fans and team and s**t on our own fans into the bargain.
HOPEFULLY we have seen that large numbers of fans will turn that new stand into a massive advantage and we segregate elsewhere. The gate wasnt great, How many new stand users thought no thanks and stayed at home?

A point here is.. We say oh you have to give seats YOU DONT, We say oh we need a turnstile YOU DONT. YOU DONT = Other clubs DONT.
EG Hyde offer no seats and also let you come in a gate with a table. We could do that and put up a bit of fencing.
You say its a club decision i say it was an ill informed closed (not open to all members) vote from a few at WUSA that shaped a club decision. Its not a dig at WUSA as i think they are doing some fantastic stuff and everyone should join.

Even though only about 15 of them were singing, there were good acoustics under that roof, they all stood up and they out sang our lot easily all game. Its going to be very noisy when Luton and such clubs come down and get segregated under that roof.

The noise was very loud considering there wasn't many of them, a larger support could turn it into a home match.

What's happened to the home singers?
Indeed and i think IF we could then we should segregate away fans in an end to stop this happening especially as teams such as Hyde DO NOT give oppo fans seats if segregated... We dodged a bullet in that only a few Shots fans sang. If thats Luton or a side that brings 500 plus it will be deafening and a big advantage. If it rains and the oppo are in an end even better for us...

You know full well why the segregation is how it is and the logistics behind it - until that changes this is the ONLY solution.
"If the behind the goal mob voted for segregating them in there so they can swap ends"
Not 100% true. The club asked for people's opinion on the idea and nearly the whole room (of which the majority do not stand behind the goal) said it was easier for the club to go with the structure they have put in place. It wasn't a "We will go with whatever your vote is" It was asked as an opinion.
That was the idea that club wanted to go ahead with anyway and to be honest if we had of decided that we would like to put the oppo fans behind one of he goals, the club probably would have gone with their idea anyway...
While i would like to stick them in a corner somewhere in the wet we have to make do with what we have currently and then maybe the club can review it in the summer.

We have learned last night that oppo fans in there with the roof will out sing us easily even if they bring 3 men and a dog. You wont find any other club in this league give the oppo the best part of the ground under cover.
It cant have a positive effect for us.

Erm....I voted for the idea of putting them behind the goal at the road end.
However it was pretty much a fait accompli before the vote took place and, when it was explained to me why, I accepted that the only current solution was to segregate that side of the ground.
The ideal scenario (for me) would be to put them in the park end but that isn't going to happen as it would cost too much.
I would have sacrificed my place behind the goal at the road end.
However, thinking about it now, I am not sure I would want to give up my space behind the goal at the road end - raining or not. And where would the home fans have stood/sat when we attack that end??
Absolutely, some people will be inconvenienced and likely to get cold/soaked at some point into the bargain. My point is ... this way not only are fans inconvenienced... so are the team... and thats just plain wrong.

I agree with some of that.
However I repeat this was a CLUB decision and not a fan one.
Therefore if you want to request a change then WDYPTC!!
the way it was last night just seems like the easiest option for everyone concerned. The fact is only a couple of games are segregated this year anyway so it isn't worth making a fuss over it

I would say it will be at least 6 plus some cup games, hardly a couple.
I agree with you it is the easiest option, that doesnt make it the right option.

When we played Gillingham and Reading in the cup in the late 80's they were segregated at the road end weren't they? What's the problem with doing the same now or am I being really naive and missing something here. Probably am.
