BBC showed clips of the Welling United vs Billericay game on the main evening news filmed by me. Alan Alger tweeted about big bets on the Welling v Billericay and Dover v Billericay games on Billericay to lose.
I don't think that making spurious allegations or comments about who is involved is a good idea. As it doesn't involve Welling then why mention it. No offence meant but not a good subject to make comments on.
It's a matter of public record that bookmakers, including BS, the sponsors of the league at the time, refused to take bets on Billericay, Hornchurch and Chelmsford. The stuff about essex people is just banter.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh When the Wingssssss
Of course the Wings v Billlericay would have attracted a lot of punters. If I recall, we were on our long run of wins and Billericay were down near the foot of the table. It does not take much figuring out. As for more bets being placed than on Barcelona, perhaps the punters in the far east or wherever are actually savvy to the fact that the odds would have been better on our match, who knows?
That Telegraph article is horrendous. It doesn't mention that we won 5-2, so to the average mug reading it it seems like Welling and Billericay are also under equal suspicion, which obviously isn't the case.

Exactly. I remember putting £20 on that game (us to win of course), and a few of my mates putting bets on as well when I told them the odds.
The betting odds in non-league are far better than the league, as bookies don't seem to take into consideration club budgets and that many teams have to travel up (or down) on the day of the game by coach.
Michael Boateng only made two appearances for bromley in 2012, one (and last) being the non-league day 2-0 victory for us when theo 'always take fairweather with you' johnson actually scored and lee clarke became the conf south alltime leading scorer. He then went to sutton and played both legs of the play off semi finals against us.
