Home Park is on the A386 Manadon junction (signposted City Centre, Tavistock and Torpoint) off the A38 Exeter to Cornwall road. Keep left going up the exit ramp and take the second exit at the roundabout heading south towards the City Centre. This is a dual carriageway which leads on to Outland Road. Go straight on past two main traffic-lit junctions and the ground is on the left (just past a speed camera).
I believe that the matchday car park is operated on a first come, first served basis, and that it can take up to thirty minutes after the match to leave it.
If you have more time on your hands or want to explore Plymouth further and want to park there, keep following signs for the City Centre and then 'Ferries/Other City Centre Parking'. This will lead you to Western Approach (an urban dual carriageway on a left-hand curve), which has a multi-storey on a right hand turn at some traffic lights above Toys 'R' Us. Cars can be parked there all day up to 10pm and it costs £5 maximum.
I hope you find this useful. See you on Saturday. COYWs.
Sherpa, just be aware that it being Xmas shopping and that the council recently have had to close a multistory finding a car park in the centre of town can be awkward. Though if anyone does get to the Western approach one, turn left when you come out and go up the hill, come to a big roundabout, and turn left down the hill and you will pass the railway station and then up Alma road. I'd guess a 20-25 minute walk.
If you want to use the free car park at Home Park which is right in front of the grounds be early, after 2 you will struggle (and I used to get there much earlier). It is a sort of triangle, great to get in but I have taken much longer than 30 minutes to get out.
You'll be pleased to know that the pasties in the ground are okay.
Anyone staying overnight I would recommend visiting the Barbican for okay pubs and places to eat (funny enough lots of fish and seafood), though those with a stronger constitution might prefer Union Street later on, but personally I'd not bother. If you want a quieter (and better quality) night in terms of pubs/food go to the Royal William yard (Hugh Fernley-Fingestall has a River Cottage there and some nice pubs/winebars), but you will need to get a short cab ride.
As a local they have made it as difficult as possible for me to pick up anyone at the train station, it is all designed pretty much now for cabs, so you'll lad will have no worries the rank is straight out the front and there are usually loads of cabs waiting. It is only a short drive (don't be alarmed that you will start off going in the wrong direction). Most of the drivers seem to come from sarf london. For getting back I have no idea whether there is a cab rank at the ground, I have never looked but doubt it. You might need to ring a cab.
Your train should arrive just in front of the exit and you walk straight out, but if yours is one of the rare trains that stops on another platform you might need a bit of help to get him across through the underpass.
The Fans Fest is in the ground, but have a look at PASOTI as I really don't know whether it is on for cup games or not.
Last time I got a cab from the station I paid extra for being picked up on the rank. Great western trains charged the taxi a fee so i was told. Dont know if this is still the case.
Don't know, first I have heard of that, but it would explain why normal drivers picking up their family and friends are not really accomodated. To be honest I rarely get a cab from the station and if I do it is very late and I can claim on exs so don't really look. But it is only about a mile and a half-two miles tops, so not a long cab journey.
