Ffs - what are we doing?  Why did we let that happen?  Have funds not been made available to Daisy?  Has Cambridge Utd got a downer on us at the moment, or is it because Dartford is playing Luton soon?  I wonder whether Luton will let us borrow some players because we are playing Cambridge shortly?

Have funds been made available to Daisy?? What funds? We've had 1 home game in the past month/5 weeks so doubt there is much money left plus with ground improvements. As stated on numerous times on this message board, Andy Pugh's wages are considerably higher than what we can afford and with Dartford being in the position they are in, might have offered to cover that.

We all know how good Pugh is but he's suffered a lot of injuries over the past few seasons and hardly played.

For all we know Daisy but have someone else in mind to come in?

In Daisy we trust.

Perhaps it was Cambridge who call the shots (or in this case the Darts) and they will want to recoup as much of the wages as possible when they loan a player out....??

I am disappointed as well but hopefully we will see Pughy in a red shirt again one day? As Polo has said we can't spend money we haven't got and, if we are to going to juggle things around in January, we have to do it wisely. Our management team have a good record in recruitment and will undoubtedly do their homework before making any changes.

IN DAY WE TRUST!

We have no money so I don't see how we could have signed him

Fair enough, but what ground improvements - should they not have started some time ago?  When are they taking place between now and the middle of March, having endured some of the worst rainfall on record and now snow is on its way?

Not sure why you are disappointed with Andy.

Not playing at Cambridge and gets a move to a club closer to his home.

Will he still be at Cambridge next season?????

If he scores a few goals at Dartford he puts himself in the shop window for next season,

Cambridge may have said, "You ARE going to Dartford"

Sensible from Pughy's point of view!

Yes, sensible and he may have had no option - but disappointed inasmuch that he has signed in time to play, and possibly score, against us!

Sticking a decent, when fit, player in a crap team does make that team any good. Don't worry, we'll beat them with or without pughy

Don't worry we have had plenty of good players in our team this year and still lost 10 in a row. Hope he likes 40 yard long hoofs.

Why does the club have no money? We are in a higher division than last year and have had a decent cup run. Yes, there are ground works due but these haven't started yet so the cost implications have not been paid out (yet).

Also, re ground works needed, is there an update? I asked on the WUSA forum and got nothing. These were first raised more than 6 weeks ago and to the best of my knowledge nothing has happened since, why? If something has happened and I have missed it then that is almost worse as it proves the communication issue remains.

Re: Pugh, good luck Andy, just not against us please! and he is out of contract in the summer remember, if Dartford go down, and Ebbsfleet don't get promoted, then hopefully we'll be in the box seat for the summer.

Would surely require a change in formation to play Pugh and Lafayette in the same team as they're both centre forwards.

LOL at last someone sees you either play Laff or Pughy not both (Spitey you restore my faith that some people watch games) . You dont drop the one whos scored double figures this season and proved hes consistently good enough at this level to take a gamble on someone (However many fans loved him).

I wish Pughy had never left but he did when Cambridge (First club) came running, we cannot afford his wages now or in the future and whoever takes him will be taking a massive gamble as he's been injured a lot since he left and not scored prolifically as he did with us consistently. I would think Pughy will go to a Skrill South side next season and rip it up, probably Dover or Dartford who can pay him nearly what hes on at Cambridge.

Good luck Pughy, just not against us.

No home games for who knows how long doesn't help but the harsh reality is that there are ground improvements to be funded along with the fact that there are still debts hanging over the club that could need settling before money is chucked into the playing budget.

Has it crossed anyone's mind that maybe, with all the injury problems Pugh has had, Jamie Day has other ideas for any spare budget money he may have?

Who says they can't play in the same team?? As far as I can see nobody is advocating dropping Roscoe and bringing Pugh back?

Formations can be adapted and players, if they are good enough and clever enough, can play in different formations.

Agreed it would be a gamble at this stage with no guarantee of it being successful.

Seven weeks with just one home game doesn't leave you to work out that cashflow will be non-existant.

That home game attendance was 650?.

Again, doesn't you won't need a computer to work that one out.

Matches still could do with being sponsored, last time I looked there were a fair few packages left.

All this is when the manager has got the club promotion play cracking football and are now mid table in the Conference......

I trust the manager implicitly as to who he thinks is suitable for the team, we can all have an opinion but I think he is better qualified than me.

Just look at the signings pre-season and during....

The cash flow may be tight but it shouldn't be non existant unless the money from one of the away games has disappeared! We may not be rolling in it but assuming we received the money from Plymouth in timely fashion we should have been able to weather the storm.

We may have had the useability of funds for other purposes delayed until  our turnstiles start spinning again though.

Say the Plymouth money covers the 7 weeks, what then pays for players coming in? (I still think Jamie will bring in two players anyway)

I still trust the manager more than us speculating on what pays what at the moment to be honest, but I know why people are sceptical.

The crowds are too low (I know there is no magic wand and I haven't seen any winning ideas as yet) and maybe supporters can help by sponsoring games/matchballs?

No-one is doubting the manager, everyone trusts him as he has a track record of doing a great job.
Are we not allowed to comment or give an opinion in the meantime? I hope we are otherwise we might as well shut this forum down.

Opinions and comments are very welcome and debate is encouraged!

All i will say is that people are demanding news on the ground improvements (and i'm not criticising that, as it needs to be done. I am anxious to here of what's being done as much as anyone) which will cost money, how much I have no idea, but as we are (fingers crossed) in a safe position in the table we don't need to be throwing huge amounts of money at players when we have ground improvements and debts to pay. Surely any extra money that comes into the club should be used to clear debts and making sure we have a ground that is good enough to play in the Conference Premier.

I have no doubt that Jamie will look to bring players in, but I would think that 1 or 2 may have to move on before 1 or 2 could come in. Just a thought?.

Cup money does take a long time to come through and with 1 home game (with a poor crowd) in the last 7 weeks, the money that has been used to pay the players/bills etc means there probably isn't a lot of free cash to go around. Maybe after a few home games, money will be there to start the improvements and bring in players.

Whilst Roscoe drifts out wide quite successfully at times he's a centre forward as is Pugh. Part of Pugh's problems have probably stemmed from being asked to play out wide. Daisy has a track record of not playing two up top so not sure having the two of them would be the best use of resources. Plus Pugh has had injuries. If Cumbers can get back up to speed he could provide decent back up for Roscoe whilst competing for a place out wide.

Would like to see a replacement for Dyer though the Manager has negated the urgency of this personally!

Polo, it is not so much needing info about the prospective ground improvements but trying to figure out when there will be an opportunity to do the work at this late stage!  Remember, supporters and WUSA were told by the Club to concentrate on helping Jamie's budget rather than put money towards the ground.  Another push for Boost the Budget? Also, we have already lost a player, and a damn good one in the shape of Alex Dyer, so surely money must have been freed up for a replacement?

I assume then that news of the ground improvements is still unknown by the vast majority reading this given you don't know Polo.

Can WUSA raise this with the club as a matter of urgency ... time is running out ... money or otherwise.

Spitey again nails it. Day ran the game against Dartford and was everywhere. Touched the ball over 70 times and was even running down the right wing late in the game, his corners led to two goals. If the gaffer plays with either Jake or Clarkie then we wont miss Dyer.

The problem is that Jamie has expressed the wish not to play in every game.  Also, results could become more and more academic as the deadline for ground improvements looms larger and larger and no news is forthcoming about when these works will start.

I have always been the advocate of the manager playing far more than he does. If not in the starting XI he should name himself on the bench at the very least for most games. He is also still our best dead ball striker although Beautyman seems capable of taking a decent free kick/corner as well

However, in the D******* game, Daisy got booked for mouth (not for the first time....) and, had he connected with a late tackle in the build up to their goal, he could well have been taking an early bath before half time....

I also like the look of Josh Akim (mini Joe Healy), who was signed without any fanfare....plus Sam Corne for future.

We dont play 2 strikers up front, Day wont change the system hes been favouring for seasons. If Pugh came back he wouldnt play as the one up front and playing him wide would be a waste, thats why he wont be staying at Cambridge. Hes a striker and a bloody good one but Laf has proved hes the man for us and i see this as Jamie showing that.

I would imagine Pughy was offered to us first and if we hadnt got Laf or he was injured i would be sure we would have taken him.

Next year if Laf gets a move or cant commit you never know....

Obviously, money will always dictate whether we have the luxury of an extra forward - but with Loick out with a fracture and Luis just coming back, I still think we need an extra forward.  Also, if we are chasing a game and need goals, Jamie does sometimes put on an extra striker.
