Looks like Gills striker Birchall has turned down a loan move to Woking, according to Kent online.  Hmmm, for the moment....

Didn't exactly set the world alight at Dartford.....

Not that it is likely to happen, but I think he would be the perfect foil to feed off knock-downs from Ross Lafayette.  Dartford fans were complaining that he had to deal with long passes lumped up to him in the air, when he really needs the ball fed to his feet.  Until last night's performance, I thought that we were the side to which he could readily adapt.

Too expensive. Not enough goals.

Like I said, not likely to happen. Off on a tangent, does anybody know whether Malik Ouani and Malachi Hudson are still with us?  I thought they both looked very good prospects and could be useful in our current predicament.

Birchall will score goals if provided with good service. Assuming we can come to some deal on his wages, I think he'd be an excellent player for us. I'm sure whoever Jamie brings in will be decent, though.

Hang on a minute.

We play 4-3-3 with one (very decent) out and out forward whose injury is hopefully not serious (fingers crossed)

Now we are changing the whole style/formation/tactics based on a bloke who is probably on league one wages, had a long term injury not very long ago and has scored 2 goals in 20 odd games AT THIS LEVEL THIS SEASON.

I'll pass no

And, there it is - in a nutshell, a seemingly rigid formation which surely should be adapted according to circumstances.  As for the rest, fair comment.  Let's see what Birchall does to us on Saturday if he and the Gills change their minds.

If you are looking for youngsters on no money try Charley Robertson who is a bit like Chris Waddle and can play in the middle , hes at Maidstone and Alfey Pavey at Millwall who is a big strong forward who scores for fun.

More like 4-5-1 these days i'm afraid!

Birchall was excellent before injured (at PVR) and would be suited to a 4-4-2. We're crying out for some sort of forward reinforcement in the squad. Under our formation it needs to be someone who can play through the middle and out wide with Pires injured and Cumbers not up to speed.
