We just can't handle Akinde at the moment.
Alfreton pressing us hard whenever we get the ball and we're struggling to get our passing going. Hope we can change that soon.
Cant believe we didn't score at the end, Cornick changed the game and looks really good. I'm sorry but as far as football is concerned they were shocking and just bullied us in the first half. Ref absolute shocking for both teams, so inconsistent...since when was it the attackers fault that a CB has climbed all over him for the ball. From where i was it's a pen lazy challenge that wasn't needed.
A bad day at the office today. Alferton were a solid hard working side. They made the most of their chances and played the ref well. All in all they deserved their 3pts. Lets get a good weeks training in and go again next week. In Jamie we trust.
Alfreton were certainly a solid hard working side, but they were also allowed to get away with poor challenges that went totally unpunished. The ref today certainly had a bad day at the office. The commitment from us during the last 10 minutes or so was excellent.
thank god we dont play John Akinde (elbows) every week he bullied the hell outta us and really showed we lack a physical threat also rosco had a awful game today he maybe fatigued as always having to play on his own upfront every friggin week :( the penalty was a stonewall one and mclaren should be slapped with a wet fish pointless tackle as was going away from goal tbh i really enjoyed Alfretons play they were a class above us if im being honest cmon you wingsssssssssssssssss
I didnt see them resorting to long ball down the right wing all the time like we did and every time they went forward there 2 strikers looked good and we would jump at the chance to have them they were deffo better than us imo and you can tell why there in the top 3 i just wish we had some balls to play more than one striker why do we take a loan forward from bournemouth just to have him on bench?
They may have been dominant in the air(at the back) and initially more lively in winning the first ball, however, I did not see any signs of a side whose gameplay was vastly better than ours. Indeed Butch had as little to do as their keeper. Having seen the majority of our games this season I am more than surprised they are in the top three.

In three words I can sum up everything i've learnt in life; it goes on.
Short clip of the 10-15 minute storm during the game. Biblical. Not many including the players could see the ball or anything.
Just showed the missus the video and the comment regarding the ball. As quick as a flash she responded "They couldn't see the ball before the rain!..."
Well, Alfreton were cute - little nudges and pushes which went unpunished and a couple or more flattenings. Today, we paid the price for a 12 hour round trip and an exhausting game at Gateshead whereas Alfreton had had at least a couple of weeks' rest and they looked sharper and quicker to the ball as a result. A very strong side with lots of quality players and a defence which, in the first half, looked so fierce it seemed they only had to stare people out! From the very first 10 minutes of the match, Kurtis was pushed and brought down. We have a young, skilled, side which should receive protection from referees and, unfortunately, when we try to adopt the same tactics as our opponents we are not quite so crafty and get booked. Oh for a Scott Kinch on these occasions. If the ref had been a mite more consistent, then it seemed we had two penalty claims equally as valid as that awarded to Alfreton.
Incidentally, respect to both sets of fans behind the goals who withstood the biblical downpour.

Wouldn't want to watch Alfreton every week, but they were highly effective. Amazed that their manager said in the interview after that he took Akinde off because 'their supporters were trying to get him sent off'. He should have gone for the challenge on Blaine and definitely for the one on Dougie.
That said he is a player I would love to have in our side - a total handful.
From where I was thought he dived for the pen, but Connor apparently admitted he caught him - a cheap penalty.
Referee was abysmal and lino on my side similarly useless.
Assessor was Steve Bennett and don't think he was over impressed - lots of notes being made so hopefully they both got a b*****king after.
Overall we didn't quite have enough today but we will be fine.
Thought Harry Cornick looked very good. If the singing ever dries up he could join us full time.
I thought they were quite clever really they let us have the ball in our own half and when we got it a dangerous area they moped up with two or three players quite well. they were also a big side across the park and used their strength to good effect.
As for the rain and storm Noah would have been proud of that one but it showed up referee up as a clown - how he did not take the players off for a few minutes was beyond me. If a referee does not stop the game for that what chance have you got?

Great to see Jack Obersteller back playing today. Also, I thought Harry Cornick played exceptionally well in that last ten minutes in horrific conditions. Some of us wondered why Jamie had put him on the bench, but perhaps, in his wisdom, he knew that Alfreton were a very physical side and wanted to spare young Harry such a long baptism of fire.

I can only assume you are very easily impressed, or haven't been blessed with the gift of sight.
What a day to choose to leave my coat at home. Definitely the wettest I've ever been while watching a game of football, but we had a few good weather-related songs on the terraces to keep spirits up.
Despite only being on the pitch for 20 minutes, Cornick was MOTM. Looked very quick and showed real intent every time he got the ball. Beat the man and whipped a couple of crosses in (take note, Mr Hughes-Mason). Wakefield was the most impressive of the central midfielders too, in my opinion.
I pray we see Ober and Faz both start in the next game. Connor is a good defender but the least attacking of the 3 - too many crosses from deep when he ventures into the opposition half for my liking, rather than trying to work the ball into a good position. Joe Healy holds the ball up, he's not going to dribble past a man and whip a cross in - we know this. Ober is the only one capable of providing width from left-back at the moment.
I can only assume you are very easily impressed, or haven't been blessed with the gift of sight. Well I can assure you if I was easily impressed I wouldnt be a welling fan would I lol................ And if I did have a problem with sight I would be a dirtford fan them fans are crazy with the drum ^_^ I just know that we was 2nd to every loose ball and was showed to be a weak team and easily bullied the same happened only a few weeks ago with nuneaton anyways was just my opinion peace out regards Big Dave
